Timber/Killick Hitches - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 1323 месяца назад
In this video, I demonstrate both the timber hitch, as well as the Killick hitch. I have seen many videos showing the timber hitch and it's variants, but not many people actually show it in use, and I wanted to share how I use it in an everyday application. The timber hitch is great because it doesn't bind or jam even under a large load. It is easy to tie, and has many uses and practical applic...
Double Pile Hitch - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 2253 месяца назад
In this video I demonstrate how to tie both the single pile hitch, as well as the double pile hitch. This is a great knot if you want to tie something in a rush and need it to hold a lot of weight securely, but don't want to have a lot of fuss when untying later. Used often when tying a vessel down for a short stay, its obvious benefits are speed when an exposed end of a post, pole, or piling i...

Sailor's Hitch - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 6433 месяца назад
In this video I demonstrate a sailor's hitch knot. This is a non-jamming knot that is unlikely to bind when under hard load and has been used for countless years in marine industries and applications. This can be a good alternative to other hitches or knots if you need a one that you know will be put under a hard load or pull, and need to be able to undo later. Remember to keep practicing being...
Constrictor Knot - Jostle Ropes with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 месяца назад
In this video, watch and learn how to tie the constrictor knot. It is a type of binding hitch/knot that securely grips it's post tightly and doesn't allow for slippage that you might get using a simpler knot (example: clove hitch). Be weary, as this knot can become impossible to untie if it is heavily loaded, although that's a fine price to pay for a strong holding knot. Remember to keep practi...
Highwayman's Hitch - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
In this video I share a family favorite knot, the Highwayman's Hitch! This is a quick release knot that is unique because when you pull the tag end, all the rope is released on your side of the post, meaning you can make for a quick getaway. Other types of quick release often leave you with one last turn (or two!) that causes you to spend an extra second fiddling with the rope, which leaves jus...
Mooring Hitch - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.4 месяца назад
In this video, I demonstrate how to call a knot the wrong name multiple times, as well as how to tie it. Follow along, as the mooring hitch can be very simple to learn, and useful for tying up your kayak, Jon boat or other vessel, or even your dog's lead. Have any recommendations or knot requests? Let me know, I'll look into it if I can! Leave a comment and like and come back for the next video...
Butterfly Knot - Jostle Rope with Jolly Roger
Просмотров 9 тыс.4 месяца назад
In this video I demonstrate how to tie a midline variation of the Butterfly Knot. It is used in climbing, camping, and various other situations. It is a knot that can be heavily loaded but still be untied rather easily. You can also use it to isolate a damaged part of your rope to the loop side, so that you can still use the rope safely. Have fun and keep practicing! #rope #knot #alpinebutterfly

After removing the stems I discovered a damaged oring and a plastic gasket in one near the handle. Great question! It's often seen in climbing applications both recreational or professional, for example it is used to clip a climbing harness into a carabiner, or can be used to isolate a worn section of rope within the loop so that the worn section does not receive tension. Some camera will use it on ridgelines as attachment points for tents or tools.

Thanks for watching! I believe the recommended mileage to change the water pump on a Prius is around 60-100k miles. But I've heard some go beyond 200k, and some at 40k. I would say if the car is not exhibiting any problems, keep going on it. But if you already have high mileage and you're already doing a service on something else (alternator/fan/plugs/AC/etc) then it's a great time to do it then. Knock out two birds with one stone mantra.
