Rough Tip Number 4. Blind side reversing in a C+E Artic into a parking bay.
This rough tip covers the blind side reverse in an artic/C+E. It's not a how to, just a quick video with a few pointers to help anyone that want to give the blind side a go.

Rough Tip Number 3. When your 3a C+E reversing test goes horribly wrong and how to fix it.

Training providers will show you how to perform this reversing manouvre, but unfortunately not show you what to do when it goes horribly wrong. This video demonstrates what to do when the 2 most common mistakes are made, the results of which and how to fix it.
Rough Tip Number 2. Setting your C+E up for a bay reverse.

The starting posting for your reverse is a crucial part, a poor starting position can create a much more difficult reverse than it needs to be. Here's how I'd normally set up for a bay reverse.
Rough Tip Number 1, C+E reversing, how little steering you actually need to get started.

The most common mistake when reversing a trailer is too much steering. Here's a quick demonstration of how little steering you actually need to get started.

This video demonstrates the room we have available for performing reversing manouvres. Not just the DVSA 3a reverse that is required prior to the 3b on the road test, but also real life reversing into bays and next to static trailers. There is also room to simulate negotiating turns at junctions in a safe environment prior to the students first drive out on the road if required.

Here's an aerial view of the facilities available for our students. Having all this space at our disposal is great, not just for learning the DVSA reversing manouvre, but also for simulating actual real life reversing onto bays and next to other trailers. It is also posible to simulate turns at junctions before going out onto the public highway. This is not always necessary, but available if ne...

It's always good to be able to see, not only the reverse manoeuvre, but the area where you could potentially be doing your training. LUT doesn't share this area with anyone else and we are very fortunate to have so much space at our disposal.

    Wow. Been driving for two and half months tramping and still kinda sh!t at reversing. Never knew the trailer would still move in an angle after keeping steering wheel straight. Gonna try it tomorrow.

    • @leveluptraining
      @leveluptraining 28 дней назад

      @nazarm.ibrahimi5000 once there is some angle between the unit and trailer, unless you correct it, it will naturally get tighter as you reverse. There will come a point where you'll need to control it with some right hand steer and then continually adjusting left and right tonget the trailer where you want it. It takes time to get competent at it, but it'll come.

    I can never understand why people cannot work that out for themself lol it is as easy as you make it look, the idea is let the vehicle do the work, but most like to struggle with the streewheel for some reason, Maybe they will look at this blog and make their life esayer ???????.

    • @leveluptraining
      @leveluptraining 2 месяца назад

      @brianwebb191 people tend to panic when the trailer isn't going where they want it to and instinctively do too much steering to correct it. A very common mistake. Like you say, in time, you realise that the trailer, once you get it going will naturally do the work for you.

  • @neilrees7526
    @neilrees7526 2 месяца назад

    Would you still use this same setup if you have less space out to your left ?

    • @leveluptraining
      @leveluptraining 2 месяца назад

      @neilrees7526 you would, but with less space, you might not be able to get a 45 degree angle with your trailer if there's less space. Just make sure you don't get too close to the boundary out front near your cab as you will swing round towards that when you start straightening the unit and trailer up. Also, with less than a 45 degree angle you'll need more left steering when you start the reserve to get the trailer into the bay or parking space.

  • @Steve-x8d
    @Steve-x8d 2 месяца назад

    Oh, I didn't know your technique was allowed as I thought the driver had to demonstrate control through the S and then into box with shunts up to two being allowed before entering the box. I was told when training. "Don't be a **** take a shunt"(by a woman trainer). Also, bulldog on the rear trailer wheel mudflap as a stop indicator (set it up first before test).

    • @leveluptraining
      @leveluptraining 2 месяца назад

      @Steve-x8d this isn't a technique, it's simply a method of fixing a problem this severe if you get too close to the line on the right and can't get straightened up. Another video for the future is a drivers eye view and explanation for the S manouvre. A shunt for the DVSA 3a test is defined as a movement forward that doesn't exit the reverse area and go beyond the 2 cones at the top (A and A1)

  • @Steve-x8d
    @Steve-x8d 2 месяца назад

    Great stuff. Please can you demonstrate the correct way in a tight yard ( driving past bay then left on, then right to kick the trailer to the correct angle for "easy" reverse). You know what, I better at blindside reversing! Thanks.

    Been driving just over 3yrs now wish this video was out then very helpful...one tip i found help me was to deliberately park between two trailers as if you go for the easy parking it doesn't improve your reversing i still do it now.

    • @leveluptraining
      @leveluptraining 2 месяца назад

      @Deiseboi I advise my students to try the difficult reverse, take their time, and only go for the easy option if they genuinely can't do it or time isn't allowing them to fully concentrate on it. You only get better if you keep challenging yourself. Thanks for your comment by the way.
