Rough Tip Number 4. Blind side reversing in a C+E Artic into a parking bay.
This rough tip covers the blind side reverse in an artic/C+E. It's not a how to, just a quick video with a few pointers to help anyone that want to give the blind side a go.

Rough Tip Number 3. When your 3a C+E reversing test goes horribly wrong and how to fix it.
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
Training providers will show you how to perform this reversing manouvre, but unfortunately not show you what to do when it goes horribly wrong. This video demonstrates what to do when the 2 most common mistakes are made, the results of which and how to fix it.
Rough Tip Number 2. Setting your C+E up for a bay reverse.

The starting posting for your reverse is a crucial part, a poor starting position can create a much more difficult reverse than it needs to be. Here's how I'd normally set up for a bay reverse.
Rough Tip Number 1, C+E reversing, how little steering you actually need to get started.

The most common mistake when reversing a trailer is too much steering. Here's a quick demonstration of how little steering you actually need to get started.

This video demonstrates the room we have available for performing reversing manouvres. Not just the DVSA 3a reverse that is required prior to the 3b on the road test, but also real life reversing into bays and next to static trailers. There is also room to simulate negotiating turns at junctions in a safe environment prior to the students first drive out on the road if required.

Here's an aerial view of the facilities available for our students. Having all this space at our disposal is great, not just for learning the DVSA reversing manouvre, but also for simulating actual real life reversing onto bays and next to other trailers. It is also posible to simulate turns at junctions before going out onto the public highway. This is not always necessary, but available if ne...

Here's class of 2023, my awesome students that are now able to drive a Class 1 HGVs courtesy of LUT.
DVSA 3a C+E reversing manoeuvre, perfectly executed by new student Rob.

It's always good to be able to see, not only the reverse manoeuvre, but the area where you could potentially be doing your training. LUT doesn't share this area with anyone else and we are very fortunate to have so much space at our disposal.

Meet Daftny, Level Up Trainings unit that we use for HGV driver training near Doncaster in South Yorkshire . Many have passed their C E tests in her so far and there will be many more in the future. It could be you next. Well, maybe not next, but soon if you get in touch.
Fantastic tutorial... thanks
@@leeroy5065 thank you
By far one of the best tutorials on yt, for trailer work 👍
@@Woodyiebeatwork thank you
Doimg my Class 1 now and i would never of known you don't have to steer that much when reversing thanks for this. Love the honestly at the start about editing and that😂
@@renvillevassell1800 good luck with your course.
@@leveluptraining thanks mate I appreciate that
Wow. Been driving for two and half months tramping and still kinda sh!t at reversing. Never knew the trailer would still move in an angle after keeping steering wheel straight. Gonna try it tomorrow.
@nazarm.ibrahimi5000 once there is some angle between the unit and trailer, unless you correct it, it will naturally get tighter as you reverse. There will come a point where you'll need to control it with some right hand steer and then continually adjusting left and right tonget the trailer where you want it. It takes time to get competent at it, but it'll come.
Day 2 of driving a HGV didn’t expect to do a blindside reverse in between 2 trailers onto a loading bay while it was pitched black! This mirror tip saved my hair from falling out thank you
@@KillaKlaps you're welcome, I'm glad it came in handy.
Big Hello to Sharon!! Fantastic woman. After chatting to her and she mentioned the new set up I have been following and recommending the company to all the veterans I’m helping out.
@Bravo-30 thank you very much for your support. And yeah, she is indeed a fantastic woman.
@@leveluptraining if it’s ok with you I will put a link out globally on my Regiment site Royal Anglian Connect
It’s mental coz now you’ve shown us to move the mirror it seems so obvious and yet this is the first time I’ve seen anyone say it
You’re a hero
Why didn’t I think about moving the mirror 🤣🤣
Nicely done. I still struggle with them but ultimately get it in as much as you can without hitting anything then shunt to fix it. Its a different ballgame doing it in the dark/wet with bay lights blinding you but it maketh the man 😂
@jonnyholton2196 it's one thing doing it in an empty yard with no pressure, but in a busy yard or in the services, in the dark and wet too, it's a but different.
Silly me …wouldn’t think of that 😅 …indeed less is more , cheers.
What camera are you using? The Image is nice and clear and sharp. Audio is good too.
@scarletiv5683 its a Go Pro Hero 7 Black, shot in 4k at 60 frames per second.
Nice
That’s not 90 degrees
The unit is at 90 degrees or there abouts to the bay when ready to start the reverse.
This is actually genius. I would never have thought to do this! I have my 3a tomorrow.
@misszetec good luck on your 3a.
Did a reversing refresher with mark. Top bloke, very patient and knowledgeable I'll be back again at some point when i get chance.
@markfarminer5319 thank you for your kind words.
You always make it look super easy
@@geary1974 the more you practise, the easier it gets.
Very helpful my friend. Thank you
The tip about the mirror is so helpful. I'd not even thought about that.
The simplest of solutions are usually the most effective. Ha ha.
So helpful have to say ! Brilliant bit of advice! Cheers!
All these videos are just what I needed, I've just started out and reversing has been a nightmare in terms of where I've needed to be positioned for different bays thanks 👍
Keep at it bud, I was the same, oddly though I had a clarifying moment where it just made sense, you'll get there 👍
So true... practice makes perfect.....👍👍
Alot of driver don't set up properly for a,reverse and come in factory tight
Although it’s a “rough tip” it’s the best reversing tutorial I’ve seen on you tube.
@@razali7016 that's very kind of you, thank you.
I can never understand why people cannot work that out for themself lol it is as easy as you make it look, the idea is let the vehicle do the work, but most like to struggle with the streewheel for some reason, Maybe they will look at this blog and make their life esayer ???????.
@brianwebb191 people tend to panic when the trailer isn't going where they want it to and instinctively do too much steering to correct it. A very common mistake. Like you say, in time, you realise that the trailer, once you get it going will naturally do the work for you.
Would you still use this same setup if you have less space out to your left ?
@neilrees7526 you would, but with less space, you might not be able to get a 45 degree angle with your trailer if there's less space. Just make sure you don't get too close to the boundary out front near your cab as you will swing round towards that when you start straightening the unit and trailer up. Also, with less than a 45 degree angle you'll need more left steering when you start the reserve to get the trailer into the bay or parking space.
Oh, I didn't know your technique was allowed as I thought the driver had to demonstrate control through the S and then into box with shunts up to two being allowed before entering the box. I was told when training. "Don't be a **** take a shunt"(by a woman trainer). Also, bulldog on the rear trailer wheel mudflap as a stop indicator (set it up first before test).
@Steve-x8d this isn't a technique, it's simply a method of fixing a problem this severe if you get too close to the line on the right and can't get straightened up. Another video for the future is a drivers eye view and explanation for the S manouvre. A shunt for the DVSA 3a test is defined as a movement forward that doesn't exit the reverse area and go beyond the 2 cones at the top (A and A1)
Great stuff. Please can you demonstrate the correct way in a tight yard ( driving past bay then left on, then right to kick the trailer to the correct angle for "easy" reverse). You know what, I better at blindside reversing! Thanks.
@Steve-x8d thanks for you comment. That's definitely a video for the future. There's also a blind side reverse rough tip in the pipeline.
Handy. Bits and pieces was my instructors words, bit on, bit off.
Been driving just over 3yrs now wish this video was out then very helpful...one tip i found help me was to deliberately park between two trailers as if you go for the easy parking it doesn't improve your reversing i still do it now.
@Deiseboi I advise my students to try the difficult reverse, take their time, and only go for the easy option if they genuinely can't do it or time isn't allowing them to fully concentrate on it. You only get better if you keep challenging yourself. Thanks for your comment by the way.
Thank you so much for your advice. Too much steering was my mistake. Thank you so so much🎉🎉🎉
I am well aware that I said steer left when I should've said steer right before anyone points that out. 😂 That's why it's called a rough tip.
Wow, this is so much different from shunting.
Good video for a beginner whos just passed the class 1! If you could make a video doing different angles or how you would normally park in a bay that would be great
@@jhallibeats more videos will come soon enough and will be directed at the beginner.
