damn. that ending hits hardest of them all imo especially when we see Ib's parents and Mary remember everything even tho she wanted to escape with her but that also shows how much she cared for her

Back then, I watched this thinking its was a secret or new ending. Wish it was canon cause it feels canon:3 Everytime I come across this I ALWAYS rewatch it cuz' it's just THAT good💖💖🥺🥺 But, yeah.. I also watched a comic dub here somwhere with the same ending, Ib sacrificing herself only.. different dialogue.. and Garry remembers her. ugh.. inspiration knocked my braincell, imma be makin' a vocal cover and arrangement of Ib's theme with this ending if you don't mind.. Just finished the lyrics btw🙃🙃

comparto mas sentimiento por mary que por los personajes principales. los 2 personajes principales son 2 personas ramdom que se juntan y de la nada tienen sentimientos mutuos por el poder del guion. Ademas que cuando salieron de esa dimension no les dio lastima ni les importo haber matado a alguien. Por otro lado Mary es una chica que ha vivido toda su vida sola, en un mundo de silencio absoluto y sin ningun ser vivo excepto ella, incluso a pesar de perder la razon, la esperansa y la cordura, se notaba su inocecensia al no saber que es bonito o feo. ella muere quemada por las personas que considero su unica familia. sinceramente quede destrozado y con el corazon roto 😔

I noticed I am not getting long for me, I always feel I lost something since I was brim. I am more easily to feel tired and pain… I need to keep something change in the time… you have to remember, you get a pain childhood, it’s longer than you think…unluckily you end when you start to feel happier… this is where you like or love from you time…you must be control by your imagination…and that is pretty. Don’t think you are strange, that are the most happiest time you get…don’t care about are you the sister or brother you just need to know you want to love and be love…the only thing we trust is love…it’s the second strongest feeling we get in our brains . Human never know the closest and secret thing in the world is our brain…they lie by human and time, space…. I fail to end….you need to get into your brain or end yourself….otherwise you can survive…..this is you life…. We stilll can save if we work hard….but the chance is close to zero…. Going into this comments section years after this mod is no longer public: what in tarnation do you all mean "this is as good as Promise of Reunion"? I'd argue this ending is, thematically for the game at least, as bad if not WORSE than the literal death-bed ending. The entire point of Mary's story is the tragedy of her characther. That Guertena was just so vain and selfish that he poured his entire soul into one painting so strongly that it came alive unlike any of his other works. Within the Fabricated World, she's essentially God. Every other artpiece is subservient to her and does not harm her. If she tries to leave on her own, you get "A Painting's Demise", which showcases that Mary physically cannot leave the Fabricated World without someone to take her place. The only logical choice is Gary, who canonically can die. If you don't burn Mary's portrait, you get "Together Forever" which i think is a really disturbing ending - Gary gets erased from reality by his killer who assumes the role of Ib's sister and even eats the last remnant of Gary's existance - the lemon candy - right out of Ib's hands. I get it - Mary is just a child, just like Ib. She does not mean harm, she's only acting on what she's learnt from inside the Fabricated World. But that does not make any of her actions okay. She quite literally attempts to kill both Gary and Ib multiple times just so she would have a chance at being real. I feel great sympathy towards her, but burning her picture is the correct choice. Making her real strips a real human of his life and well-being, while burning her portrait deletes a single art piece of an artist who's made thousands. Both Mary and Gary surviving feels like a cheap gut-punch and extremely out of character of scared little Ib who would not have made it so far without Garry or Mary with her. It's not something I see happening ever in a canonical sense, and even Kouri agrees as he had this mod taken down and declared it non-canon. It's a fun scenario and really dramatic as you'd expect, but I don't think this is just something that could ever concievably happen. If Mary fully remembered what happened she would eternally resent herself and Garry, and only bad things could happen as a result. It's unironically on par with the death-bed and "Welcome To The World of Guertena" endings.

Phew~ I played IB at release (back then, i was 12, not too far from Ib's age.) I remember watching a pewdiepie let's play - but decided the game was so cool i would play it before i watched the following let's plays. I was scared shitless at every turn. After every session, I would get paranoid, not daring to leave my room at night, lol. I cried at the endings. Fast forward to current day, I just finished the remake! (Really happy this was made!) All-in-all, I was very satisfied and had several moments where my heart was pounding like crazy, dispite knowing a majority of the scares by heart. Now, I stumbled upon this video and holy shit, I cried so bad... ;_; This is such a good ending. God bless everyone involved in this. It fits right in with the other endings. Sad to see that kouri didn't like it. Welp, I think Japan has a different cultural mindset regarding intellectual property, (and consequently modding culture) so it makes sense, I suppose. It's confusing though, doujinshi culture in Japan is supposively pretty big, so it's strange that it isn't liked here?

Even if this was a fan made ending and got backlashed from the original creator. I still love this ending that wasn't in the original game. ❤ its just so beautiful and bitter sweet ❤

the ending in original game is actually unlikely, when Mary trades with Garry, she doesn`t hate ib but when she doesn`t trade, she hates them both, and want them to die. you can see how ib behaves when garry tells ib that shes not human based on the route, (or i dont remember if ib actually behave different) but i remember, for example , ib hugs or doesnt hug garry and, Mary tells them in her room; BOTH OF YOU ARE OKAY?! (i dont remember again)

I do wish this was an ending because it pays off the very weird option to say that you would sacrifice yourself for both Garry and Mary, which has no ramifications in the actual game. The line makes it seem like it's an option but it just isn't.

In my past I believed that ending was canon... silly young me. T-T

even tho it isn't a canon ending this for sure it's my favorite. Forever Together and Promise of Reunion are really nice seeing the saved Characters all happy, but there was always one character who ends up trapped or death in the Painting World and we couldn't do Anything about it, just sacrifice it, but this ending, this give us the option to save them both and for IB, who was trapped in the Painting World, she's happy in her death knowing that both are alive and safe from this world.

Since the game released a few months ago remastered, I hope they update it sometime to add this as an ending, of course with Kouri's permission and the mod maker's as well.

I know the creator isn't fond of this ending (for totally understandable reasons, it could feel rather OOC, and it does kinda trample over the intended story), but. My God, did Mary and Garry's "IB!!!" portraits tear my heart out. This is so mean. Why would someone do this. I need to lay down and cry after this. *_I adore it._*

It was the game that most marked my life. His horror is the most brilliant I've ever seen, I say without a doubt that this game is unique. I've never seen anything in the genre like it. Ib is a brilliant, dark, melancholic and poetic horror The feeling of this game is unforgettable, unparalleled The author had a choice of colors and music that perfectly match the environment and the story of the game, even though it is graphically limited, everything is detailed, everything is thought, everything is depressing, sad and with a background of hope that is almost dying. In IB the terror is in the environment, in the despair of never being able to get out of the chaotic and melancholy beautiful illusion. Everything is leaving, suffering, crying, asking for help in some way, entities are suffering due to their painter creator who is crumbling along Childhood drawings, past traumas, desires. Everything was gathered there in one place, brooding, wanting to disappear. Seeing this, we even feel sorry for these ''evil' entities, this is much clearer with the Mari Entity, we also have the Entity that accompanies the IB all the time, which I believe is a painting by the painter there too, he is the feeling of hope that exists in that world. Mari hates him so much, she doesn't want to be erased, because she knows that the author wants that, he wants to erase all that torment. Mari doesn't want to be alone, she doesn't want to die, she doesn't want to be forgotten, this desire is so strong that Mari acts violently not to be alone. Mari's entity has life, emotions, feelings, meaning. Like all the works of its creator. It's something totally interpretive and I think of IB that way, your story is beautiful, told in a simple way, but very meaningful to everyone who played it

I just love this ending so much, i wish it was an actual ending from the game :(

After watching Pikasprey play through the remake and seeing all the ending from looking it up, then reading there was a fan made ending (which is this exact one). It's painful to see that. Not only does it connect dots and make references to the other endings. Here's what I got from it. Garry forgot everything since outsiders don't remember anything when being brought back from the painting world, like shown in Promise of Reunion and Memory's Crannies, but paintings exiting into the world preserve their memories from when they were in the painting world, like shown in A Painting's Demise. So when Mary says, "I'm very very sorry" it isn't towards Garry, but rather Ib. And maybe Garry but mostly Ib. The reason being is that Ib made the promise of exiting out with Mary but instead, forced Garry and Mary out to stay behind. Letting Mary hold onto that guilt and altering the memories of Ib's parents and Garry's, hence the apologies she makes. And since she preserved those memories of when Ib sacrificed herself and Garry mentioning the new portrait, of Ib, Mary couldn't hold it back any more and broke down. I love this fan made ending. It's just perfect in every way that I see it. And I just love communities who love the game they play, to make endings like these where it hits the hardest to those who know, maybe even outsiders. I know I'm years late on this but I was curious about it and I'm glad I found it.

This was so good. I actually wish that this was a canon ending you can achieve in the game. Although I'm not really that fond of Mary, I have to admit that I have great sympathy for her in this fan-made ending. Especially the part when Garry questions Mary (who is now his sister) about where the candy in his pocket went, saying that she shouldn't steal things from others, and all Mary says is _"I'm sorry...I'm really, really sorry..."_ I think that Mary is genuinely apologizing for her actions in the Fabricated World. She's sorry about trying to harm Garry, manipulating Ib, and even attempting to hurt Ib at one point in order for her to stay by her side, so that they could leave the Fabricated World together without Garry. This was Mary's primary objective - to break free from the gallery, and finally have a companion by her side forever. Most of her misdeeds were caused by extreme desperation to make her plan into a reality. Also, to top everything off, Mary must now face the reality that Ib is gone, and forgotten by everyone else except for her. Garry is now with her, but ultimately, Mary wanted _Ib_ by her side. When she finally reaches Ib's painting _"Goodbye,"_ Mary realizes that this is the only proof of Ib's prior existence.

Sometimes I really wish this ending was Canon.

Seeing this makes me realize how much I wished there was another ending added in the remake. Not this one in particular, but just, something.

Now that the remake spoiled me, i need a remake version of this headcanon ending of mine.

Come back to see this end and just realized that it a really sad ending Ib is gone. Mary have to feel guilty forever and might be even guilty because she try to kill Gary and now he really nice to her. Gary doesn't remember Ib well he might be the only happy one in this ending.

Am I the only one who's not the biggest fan of this ending? I like it separate from the game but when you try to make it an actual ending, it feels OOC (Mary and Garry crying for example). Also all of the references back to Ib dying feels like the game is forcing you to feel bad for Ib. The creator not approving of it doesn't help either. I like the comic this ending is based off of. But not as an in-game ending.

Guys, guys, the modified versions aren't lost. I found both Green Edition and Hardcore Edition today. They're in a certain archive. I'm not linking it, though.

I'll be dead honest, even though I don't know too much about Ib's personality I still get sad with this ending. Just the crushing pain in Garry's eyes when she tears her rose apart and Mary collapsing in front of Ib's painting just KILLS ME!!!!!!
