Hi there, I have some news to share - and after that, I ride some of my favourite roads. As it's already winter where I live, the road was a bit slippery and salty. This is not a fast ride ;-) 00:00 Introduction Of The New Bike 01:04 Raw Sound

Up The Gaberl | Versys 650 | Raw | On Board | Sound Only
Просмотров 1544 месяца назад
This mountain pass is called "Gaberl" and it's one of the most ridden roads near me, as it's relatively easy to ride and speedfreaks love the long straits. It's a bit boring for me, to be honest, as the Versys 650 is not made for thrilling speeds and I don't like riding stupid fast. However, I often use this road to get to the other side of the mountain, as it's way more fun than just using the...

I already made a video going up this pass - this is just the other side of it - without snow and salt this time. Imho it's way more fun to ride up on this side, as there are more sharp corners and less strait parts :)

Slovenia has many hidden gravel roads in the forests. I found this one during a trip and just wanted to know if it leads to a main street (spoiler: ofc it does). This is my usual speed when I don't know a road and it's condition - just very relaxing.

I was wondering what the Honda TA sounded like.
Sounds really good if you ask me - if you like that typical 270 degree crank sound. It's just a little bit too loud for me personally.
hello from Australia---looks like a great bike!!
Hello from Austria, it is indeed - thank you :-)
Hi there, many greetings from Macedonia, have a good trips with new bike ! I am owner of Versys 650, so please tell me the difference between those two bikes (fuell consuptions, power, fast cornering on the twisties, e.t.c.) Thanks !
Hi there and thank you for the comment. I bought the TA 750 recently so I don't have long term experience with this bike yet. But my impressions are: The V650 is a bit more agile in the twisties, due to it's 17 inch front wheel and it also feels more planted somehow - i guess because of the shorter suspension. It also feels sportier compared to the TA. But compared to other ADV bikes, the TA is super easy to handle - also in the twisties. The 21 inch front wheel feels more like a 19 inch front wheel. The TA is comfier and sucks up bumps better than the Versys - it's a very plush and comfy ride. The motor of the TA sounds way better for me. The TA does not feel a lot stronger during a "normal ride" but it delivers more power on the top end, what's nice because it makes overtaking a bit less stressful in some situations. The fuel consumption is better on the TA (TA = 4.7L/100km, Versys = 5.2L/100km) but the range of the Versys is better, thanks to the 21L fuel tank. Some TA riders speaking of a fuel consumption of ~3.6L/100km but mine needs a bit more. What's absolutely great on the TA is the low weight and low center of gravity. The Versys is much more top heavy and riding super slow is way easier on the TA. The whole balance of the TA is fantastic. The TA has also some (for me personally) unnecessary electronics. My Versys was so simple electronic wise - I really liked that. Regarding quality: I hope the TA will be as reliable as my Versys. I also have the feeling that the plastic parts on the Versys had a better quality. I hope I haven't forgot anything :D
@@GoodWeatherRider thank you so much for detailed explaination, you are amazing guy, nobody else answer like you - very precise and professional !!! RIDE SAFE !!!
Thank you mate! But don't forget to make a test ride before you decide to buy a new bike :D
@@GoodWeatherRider thanks again, I precciate your quick response and advice. I am 60 years old, but I think I will keep my Versys, because I am a traveller, but a little beat sporty oriented rider 🥴
Thank you! The Versys is an absokutely great bike!
Good video but exhaust sound would have been 100 times better than that music
The only reason for the music was the extremly bad audio quality of the china cam mounted :D You can't really hear motorsound in the original footage unfortunately..just loud and annoying noise. Maybe I'll make a similar video with better sound one day in the furure. But I totally agree with you - exhaust sound would be way better.
@@GoodWeatherRider okay brother
I have the same one 2020 model.
Are you happy with it?
Opinion for pirelli trail 2 , i consider to put them in my versys.
I had one set of the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2. It worked very well on the Versys , especially in the twisties. It's totally OK for riding on gravel but it's basically a street tire - the word "trail" in the name of the tire is some kind of misleading imho ;) I personally would take the Conti Trail Attack 3 over the Scorpion Trail 2. It's not that agile but a bit more stable when I remember correctly and the rear tire lasted around 1.000km longer. On the other hand, the Pirelli is a bit better pricewise. Tires are always a very subjective thing. If you want to try the Pirelli - go for it :)
@@GoodWeatherRider thanks
Nice video. How do you enjoy your Versys 650? Is it fun and reliable?
Thank you! The versys is fun - especially in twisties. You just need to keep her above 5k rpms if you want to ride fast. It's not the most powerful bike but as I ride solo most of the time and try to not exceed legal road speeds, the power is more than enough. The engine character is not for everyone -> 180 twin -> no inspiring sound. What I don't like is the snappy throttle response. You're getting used to it but sometimes it can get really annoying. Regarding reliability: I only had one minor issue since I own it (60.000kms so far). After ~ 30.000kms a seal started to leak but that was a 15 min job. Beside that - only the usual stuff like chains, tires etc. Can't complain about reliability :-)
👍👍🏍😉

where is this I am in the Birkshire similar stuff Have a 650 versus
This road is located in Austria, Styria - must also be gorgeous where you live :-)
So beautiful! Good job God! What a great trip....Super glad you got to do this and what a great bike the Versys is.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! The Versys is indeed a great bike :D
You guys are amazing 🤩
Thank you!
Amazing for your video of A Motorcycle Trip. I admire you the driving a long way. look along the road is very nice and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 🥰
Thanks for the nice comment - really appreciate that :-)
The landscape is so beautiful! “Preparation is a sign of weakness” - hilarious!! Can’t wait for the next episode
The landscape there is absolutely stunning, yes :-) Thank you :-)
I love this road trip series! As an American, I will probably never have the vacation time or money to ride in Europe, but it looks glorious! Some of the smaller, twisty roads through heavily forested areas remind me of western Massachusetts and southern Vermont. So beautiful 😊 Keep the videos coming, please
Thank's a lot for the comment! Europe (especially the alpine region) is great for street riders. Hundreds of twisty roads through forests and over mountains. The only downside in central europe is that you can't really go offroad as it's strictly forbidden in many countries - I guess the US is way better for ADV riders. Would love to ride through the USA one day..but as you said..more money and especially time is needed :) Oh..and that won't be the last road trip on this channel. More will come in the future but I don't have that much time to do them and the production process (cutting etc) takes a lot of time. Stay tuned. I hope at least one more will come this year :)
I’m really enjoying this 4-part road trip series!
Thank's again mate :)
Nice ride
Thanks mate 🏍👍
So this is where Simon Nemec and Thomas Tatar are from. Pretty countryside!
I just googled them and no - they're from Slovakia not Slovenia. But it's pretty there :-)
@@GoodWeatherRider haha sorry! I could have sworn it was Slovenia.
Sounds similar tbh :D
Nice video! Congrats :)
Thank ya :-)
Very beautiful forest roads😊😊
Indeed. No great views but great fun to ride :)

Good job guyssss, cant wait to see your next video 💘
Thank you very much :-)
1000 miles is a day trip
Not for me fortunately :D
Great video! There’s not that many RUclipsrs making content on the Versys. You’re so right-that color Versys really is gorgeous! I just picked up a white 2015 model, and I’m looking forward to putting some miles on this summer. Keep the videos coming!
Hey mate, thank you very much for the comment. Imho the versys is very underrated. It's a great value-for-money bike and and you can basically do everything with it. I guess you'll be very happy with it - never had a major issue or breakdown so far (55.000km/34.000 miles so far). Cheers
It was a great trip, can't wait for the next one! 🏍
Thank's mate :)
Woohhoo~ super,cool trip!bye,)
Thank you very much :-)
I sure love my Versys 650
I really understand this :-)
Love your videos! :)
I appreciate that :)
How do you set the sospension (front and rear)? Wich tipe of wheels mount?
Hi there, regarding your first question: to be honest - no idea. I just played around a bit with the suspension settings and had no idea what I'm doing :D It feels OK currently, so no reason to change the settings again at the moment. Regarding the tire question: Continental TKC 70s
Is that an aftermarket windscreen?
Yes, it's the Puig Touring Screen
Great location and day for a ride
Absolutely - thank you very much!
Great ride man !
Thanks man!
Love the ride! Best part, no other vehicles.🥰
Yes, that's the best thing when riding small roads - no traffic :-)
Nice video. Using the gears so low, the sound is fantastic. In normal use, where here you use second and third gears, I use fourth and fifth gears. The Versys is a fantastic bike.
Hey, thank you for the comment :-) Yes it's a great bike and if you're using low gears and rev it a bit, the sound is nice and she pulls really good :D
I bought a new 2021 Versys 650 in July 2022. To date it has 22,700 km on it. Excellent, reliable motorcycle. I recognize every rpm in this video. If your life is boring, get a motorcycle. I am 73.5
I can well understand what you mean. I bought mine new (built 2020) in spring 2021 and it has now ~ 53.000km on the clock. No major issues so far - just the usual stuff like some chains, brake pads and many tires :D The only thing that happened 4 times so far is that the bulb of the low beam was broken. However, it takes 5-10 minutes to replace it. I guess that happened because I often took her on really bumpy roads or gravel roads- bulbs don't like to get rattled too much :D It's a great machine! Thank you for the comment!
@@GoodWeatherRider You are welcome. My 'major' issue is that I have big feet and therefore large boots. The rear brake pedal is short and I was not aware of it but for the first two sets of brake pads I did not realize I was riding the brake. Now I have a new rotor, a third new rear tire and rarely use my rear brake, just to hold the bike in place if I am waiting on a slope. The front brakes are very smooth and work great with one or two fingers. I am using Shinko E 705 tires which work quite well for me. Nice to be in touch with another rider who actually rides his Versys. Alas, I can not for six months out of the year since I live in Alberta and we have long winters here.
What tires are you using? I have michelin road 6 and am scared of gravel. Blessings
Hi Monk, I'm currently using Continental TKC 70s - they work really good on tarmac and gravel for me, as I'm not riding extreme in any condition. But I also had a set of Michelin Road 6 a while ago. The MR6 is a fantastic road tire (better than the TKC70) and Gravel Roads shouldn't be a Problem, as long as you're not going too fast- especially around corners. Cheers
@@GoodWeatherRider Ok cool! I might consider those in the future. I was out of motorbiking for a long time and figured I better go all road for now. Looks like here in US they are called TKC 70 Rock. I had a terrible time on gravel with my Road 6's a while back but it was pretty fresh n chunky gravel. I'll give em another try someday :) Thanks so much for the info!
The TKC70 Rocks is a bit different, compared to the "normal" TKC 70. The front tire is the same but the rear tire of the rocks is a bit more offroad focused - with less expected mileage. If you just google "tkc70 vs tkc70 rocks" you can see the difference. But I'm not sure about the availability in the US. However, have a great ride and don't ride too fast on gravel :-)
@@GoodWeatherRider Great info! It would be great to find a tire as "Versatile" as you know who... I still haven't really tried out the long travel suspension. One of my favorite things to do on a KLR 650 was to aim for potholes...thats 7.8 in travel vs the versys at nearly 6 in. I think ill get braver as it gets closer to being paid for hah
✌️💪🏻
Appreciate that :-)
