I am a main japanesse and ever faced any issue and have mostly always won my 1v1 , japanesse economic is soo good that feudal rush is the strongest to fast hit your oponent economic while you defend qith tower and incredible good TC and with the ona bugeisha that counter pikeman , your cav become the strongest

Ottoman villagers have +10% mining bonus from vizier point Mongol villagers can have upto 100HP(improved textiles), carry 4 more resources(improved wheel barrow), move 15% faster(from yam), have more gather efficiency(from improved eco upgrades), so no they're not the worst villagers by a long shot. Like the video and commentary tho, keep making those
Those upgrades are not paid back at all cause there are no eco bonuses and you’re paying stone a limit resource until you get to age 4 with upgraded tech to get stone. While you’re paying for weaker units who cant fight fights upfront and must raid against their counterpart produce faster unless you have stone. The only way you are even with other civs is by trading which you cant wall while other cives can just 2 tc or trade themselves and wall which means they can aggress and not need units to defend while mongols always need units or towers to defend.
