I noticed that hubert kos was missing in here, do you know what is up with him? I am maybe a little worried about where he is and how he feels given that he is one of my favorite swimmers in history and i did not find any news about that, or it is that he is just scratching the meet at all?
No need to worry about him, he’s officially back with the Texas college team (he wasn’t competing in the NCAA in the fall) and none of the college swimmers are at this meet only the pros. They have the Eddie Reese showdown coming up in like a week and it’s assumed they’re taking this meet off before having to compete there.
@TheSwimScribeooohhh okay, thank you man
After watching day 1 finals you should change the title to "How SLOW will the 15 swimmers at the Austin Slow Swim Series go?". Loved watching 1 swimmer in the womens 100 BR B final swim at a glacier pace and simultaneously being unable to follow the meet because of random events having semifinal jumpscares.
So far some of the top end speed has looked sharp and hopefully more good things are on the horizon in the next couple of days. Overall I think the Pro Swim Series is a MASSIVE missed opportunity to make an exciting event for fans though. Even in meets with more entries there are still issues, if you're going to have B finals put them at the end of the session like the C finals, and semifinals are a little pointless. It remains a series that is only really useful for us swim nerds to watch and gauge what shape our favorites are in right now, but I think there is so much potential to actually grow a bigger viewer base.
@TheSwimScribe Agreed but also I think the focus should be on removing semifinals from worlds and the olympics and replacing that air time with swimmer interviews/storylines like they do in Formula 1. No one is going to follow swimming if the people doing it are nameless and faceless. Swimming has a branding issue and no amount of event order etc is going to fix that.
Caeleb dressel comeback journey begins
Stupid algorithm taking 5 hours for this to pop on my feed
les go scriby new vid (I still dont know ur name btw😛)
His name is David, I just found out today😂
Thanks for the video! Although I dont agree on Leon 4th strongest stroke, I think its been freestyle for the past 2 years. Even Bowman confirmed that I think. And when you compare him to Kos he's pretty close...
Bowman said after 25 worlds I think that Marchands weak stroke wasn’t backstroke anymore it was freestyle his backstroke has gotten much better
That actually tracks, I’ve felt his backstroke and freestyle are on similar levels for a little while now. That’s why I often say backstroke is “considered” his weakest because that’s been the general consensus for a while but it’s hard to directly compare. If Bon thinks freestyle is now his weakest it makes sense that he’s been doing more freestyle races lately.
@TheSwimScribeYeah it should be interesting to see how he does in the 200 back
200 IM US Open record goes down I think
I was gonna ask men's or women's then I realized that either answer is a possibility

I believe it has something to do with the swimmer’s USA Swimming registration, either that it’s expired or about to expire

I hope competing this young at this fierce level won’t affect her growth. TBH, I don’t trust chinese sports committees. They have a habit of sacrificing athletes' potential for temporary political achievement. Pick Yao Ming, for example, they overused him. The level of competition in the NBA is fierce. Yao Ming needs a rest, yet they still ask him to attend unnecessary matches. China's sports committees are not saints, not to bad mouth, it’s just plain facts, just look at its current football and basketball situation. Full of fake game.
What about the Thorpedo? Perhaps not his forte?
dude ur such a underrated youtuber, idk how u only have 7k subs
Alexy would win open water 100m free
Es muy buena 🫶❤️
China has cleared two swimmers at the center of a new doping controversy after they tested positive in 2022 for a prohibited steroid, including one athlete later selected for the Paris Olympic team. Officials attributed the results to food contamination, echoing explanations China has offered in earlier doping cases. remember Ye Shiwen she disappeared after the London games same will happen with zidi they use drugs for and test their own swimmers and put them in specific competition to peak at the right time that's why you don't see them for a while after the games
I love when You tell us stories like this, You just do ir really really well
She is a beast. I saw the thumbnail and at first thought it was a muscular man. She keeps getting bulkier and balder. Not making any accusations. You figure it out.
People in the competitive swimming community should demand that Ledecky PUBLICLY DENY she uses fludrocortisone to manage hers POTS with or without a TUE. Her silence on this question speaks volumes. Her saying she manages her POTS primarily through "lifestyle changes" is NOT to say she does not use fludrocortisone for the same purpose. To my knowledge Ledecky has made no public denial. That her use is a matter of medical confidentiality provides an obvious veil of secrecy. If she has a TUE, and believes in its legitimacy then why doesn't she just admit it? One might speculate that she fears it would TAINT her record. And, that would probably be right! As it SHOULD.
Leon Marchand is my fav swimmer
I have a crush on her.
KL THE GOAT 4EVER, EVEN AT 28, SUMMER CANT BEAT HER
I love watching her stroke underwater.
Soo... 1650 yards is 1508.76 meters. Straight up translation of this time into a 1500 meter race (which I don't know if you can really do, considering there are fewer turns in a 1500 m race) would result in a time of about 14:54.4. That's almost 14 seconds faster than her current WR on that distance.
You CANNOT equate distances without considering the effect of the flip-turn. The flip-turns make the short course (25-yard pool) times MUCH faster than an equivalent distance in a long course (50 meter) pool. Thus, your distance conversion factor does not "hold water." 🙂
28:23 but also her canadian trials time? It was 20226 right?
“Oh yeah, it’s not double sided” 😂😂😂
Katie is amazing, never count her out.
🙏
Her pace is frightening not many men could keep up with her over this distance. She would destroy most of them and leave them shattered by her speed
Oh it's a yards record 🥱🥱🥱
I would say that the only real question is how long is she going to keep doing this? Amazing, and nothing short of miraculous....
She better keep lowering the records now because Summers coming for them fast, the 1500 is probably safe for awhile but I can see Summer taking the 800 WR as early as this year. 🤔
The GOAT 🐐 😎
Katie Ledecky breaks a Katie Ledecky record. At the Katie Ledecky invitational.
The most Katie Ledecky thing to ever Katie Ledecky.
It absolutely blew me away AND it's just another day at the office at this point.
I was at this meet, it was a great meet, sadly she wasn’t at the finals I was present at but it’s still cool
Kneel before the Queen!
She keeps proving why she’s not only the most impressive swimmer or athlete of all time, but one of the most impressive humans, period.
Do you think her 1650 record is the most untouchable SCY record? I know her sub 9 min 1000 record is also insane, so is Gretchen’s 100 FL and Dressel’s 50 FR. But there isn’t a lot of young talent in distance right now so I feel like the 1650 might be most untouchable - thoughts?
I think there are actually 2 answers to this question. If you ask, it anybody else can touch this record, then the answer is a very clear no, not anytime soon. The thing is, there is always Katie herself there and she might be able to lower it again.
Vídeo mais completo sobre uma prova que já vi. Se puder, faça das outras provas também. Inclusive femininas óbvio. Terá muitos vídeos para fazer. E um excelente trabalho de pesquisa.
You should do like a video for each NCAA season, so we can learn more about how the past seasons were, who the «top dog» teams were and etc. Either you can do like a 10 minute video for each season, or you can make like a really long video called something like "NCAA: 2010-2025". Just a suggestion as someone who is really interested in NCAA swimming now, but don’t know a lot about the history
I’ll chime in here. I was a D1 swimmer in the 80s. Went 1:50 SCY and 2:05 LCM in the 2 fly. Those were good times back then, pretty average now. Of course we had no tech suits in those days, no angled blocks and our nutrition and training was sub par. 200 fly in my opinion is a lot easier for swimmers that drive their hips up, think undulation rather than a flat style which is what I had. I tried breathing to the side like Mel did, but couldn’t get used to it. That side breathing if you can do it, keeps your neck and traps from seizing up that last 50 yards/meters. I really wished I had a more undulating stroke and could side breathe. I recently swam the 400 IM at a Masters meet; very painful, but the 200 fly that last 50 is just brutal! I’m 57 now and I might be able to swim a 2fly in about 2:15 SCY. It’s hard to remember what a 1:50 feels like. BTW, Mike Troy coached me for a week at a Junior National Training Camp in Walnut Creek, CA.
100 meters is enough for me and just free style 😁
200 fly easier than 200 free??
The 200 free is a sprint which is what makes it so difficult
@Samclem08 I’ve done both many times. I was never scared of the 200 free pain. Couldn’t say the same about 200 fly
@j@jbrodez you aren’t scared of the 200 free you aren’t swimming it right, you’re sprinting with lactate for 150m, whereas the 200 fly is more paced so the lactate doesn’t hit till maybe the 100
@Samclem08 your hands jus give up in the last 50 fly
@supersuperboyzzjust becaude the 200 fly is difficult, it doesn’t make the 200 free any easir
That was very interesting thanks! Would love to watch other évents record evolutions from you 😊
Thanks! If you haven’t seen them yet I have a few other videos covering other events, it’s been a little bit since I’ve done the format and hopefully I’ll be doing more in the near future
2.16 to 1.50. Only took 70 years.
Imagine what MP could have gone in 08’ had his goggles didn’t fill up with water. Edit: you should also do 2 separate video idea’s one about the men’s 400 IM WR progression, and the rise of Phelps and his entire career
Looking at one swimmers whole career is a format I’ve wanted to do for a little while now. I probably won’t start with Phelps, he’s so impactful and that would be such a HUGE video I’d want to have the format dialed in a bit before I have him as a subject.
