I made a cosplay helmet - and it moves!
In this video, I break down how I made my Senshi cosplay from Dungeon Meshi (aka Delicious in Dungeon), including an animatronic face! If you're making a Halloween costume or are a cosplayer and fan of anime, this tutorial will guide you step-by-step through building a foam helmet with moving parts. I cover everything from patterning using EVA foam to adding textures and realistic paint effects. For those who want to make their own, join my Discord for access to my patterns, material guides, and cosplay support. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to level up their costume builds!

Leather Armor Cosplay + Cost-Cutting Tips

I cosplayed as Halsin from Baldur's Gate 3 at Pax East! Leatherworking is expensive, so I share some tips on how I was able to save some money by using utility grade leather and pre-cut leather belt straps. Why is my cosplay contact cement so thick?
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
Contact cement thickens up over time and just stops working as well as it used to. If you don't want messy seams on your EVA foam cosplay props and armor, you'll want to store your adhesive in a separate container and use the appropriate thinner (or 100% acetone for a cheaper option) to keep your glue at the right consistency. The only issue I have with this method is that it's fine if the entire pattern is on one sheet - but many of the patterns I print are done in acrobat and printed in poster format because they're scaled large, so I get multiple 8x11 pages that must be taped together to make a giant poster and then I need to cut the patterns out of that, and most of them cross over the "borders" of the 8x11 sheets that make up the poster. I suppose I could try to match the edges of the pages when I do the transfer but it seems like it would be really tricky

My brother is doing armor that is mostly leather and he bought cheap used clothes on vinted. For example he bought a leather coat for 5 dolars (we live in Poland so things might be different). You probably can't really change the colors or add many details but it might be an option if you want simple black or brown leather that is already finished

Great cosplay! I loved your note about safety when using a dremel and EVA foam. It would also be good to point out that it is probably best to use a respirator in a well ventilated area while using contact cement as well. Otherwise, great video! I love seeing the "How It's Made" of cosplay and this was a very in depth explanation. Would love to see more things like this in the future :)

Diluted acrylics applied with a spritz bottle will go on really quickly, and there’s no crocking (rubbing off), that dye tends to do.

No cause you are SO SWEET <3 the helmet turned out awesome and I saw your cosplay online and thought it was super cool, that's why I clicked on the video, but I stayed because the way you explain everything is so nice and helpful. I imagine that someone who is starting out with cosplay would profit from your explanations so much. Really great work, keep going :)
