I bought this loco about a year ago but just got around to getting a set of cars, green is proto but I went with Walthers two tone grey heavy weights. Green just looks liken army train to me. NYC didn't switch over to streamliners until 1938 so the heavy weights are the correct cars for the Commodore.

how much would u sell it for??/

I took mine and added DCC and it's a pretty good runner for being 40 years old. The only problem I'm having is it's making the same clicking sound that my P2K locos make when they have a split gear. Haven't taken it apart to look, but also wondering if my only option is to buy another unit for parts or if they use gears from Athearn.

What brand is the loco please?

Bachmann's offering is fabulous, no doubt about it. Yet many collectors prefer to hunt out the vintage Triang-Hornby version, it seems.

Does anyone know of a list of Indian HO scale manufacturers? From the largest to the smallest? I have a Crown set (old Triang Hornby mouldings rebranded) but that is all. Surely a country that size has some? And where to source please?

Thanks for a fascinating video. Any idea how to get a handle on what NATIVE Chinese brands of HO there are? i.e. China based companies producing Chinese outline? (Already know of Changming). Have surfed RUclips at length, FB, and so forth but no real leads. And where on earth to source them from?

As an Amtrak Engineer, there is a pro and con to either one. I love the Chargers for how sleek and sexy they look, and they do pick up speed faster than the P42, but for safety, the P42's are tanks.

those split axles that can short-out if too close inside gear or touching. This vid reminded me of a fix to keep them from electrical contact is to put small plastic shavings inside the hole before you put wheel back inside gear..just a lil or it will be out of gauge..This solved a problem with shorts in the loco.

That is a really nicely assembled consist. I picked up the Loco on sale at Porsche Museum Stuttagrt several years back but never knew there wer Porsche wagons available - are they Trix or ?? I browsed through your other videos and having lived all over eg Sydney, US Munisch etc can relate to the variety (I was in Munich for 5 years and the wallet got hit badly as Munich is a great railroad crossraods for Europe with so many liveries and operators). I have no Sydney trains - can you tell me what is the one behind your Tangara in the Tangara video. Thanks

I just bought a Ho scale BLI 4-8-4 T-1. Turned off the smoke unit and CV128 and CV129 has been changed to 0.

A dealer in NYC (Red Caboose Hobbies) that went out business years ago, screamed a blue streak at me over the phone. My offense? I called him while he was eating lunch. A short time later he was arrested by the state for non-payment of sales tax and his doors were closed.

Thank you for your honest reviews. I haven't seen anyone else giving run tests and pointing out defects. Can we hope that BLI will use some other decoders? I know I won't buy a BLI until the do something about power pickup and sound quality. Till then, I'll stick with TCS, ESU and Soundtraxx.

I really like the fact that you actually do a review and point out problem areas that should receive attention from the manufacturer. Other people just unbox, run it and offer NO opinion. When there's a problem, the consumer should know about it. If you have to deal with Trainworld, I hope it goes well.

The sound of the chuff as it passes is just weird. The diesel sounds (when the prime mover would be notching up) just sounds like the sound is speed up, not like a real engine picking up speed.

You can use a small channel lock plier as a press to press the axels into the gear if you have difficulty doing it freehand. The channel locks just help with some leverage 😊

Thank you for doing these videos. If there is bad news regarding a new product, let it be said. I hope it will get BLI to do better quality control. We should not have to put up with such quality considering how much these things cost. For now, I'm happy with installing TCS WOW sound decoders into yellow box Atlas/Kato locos.

I would say 3 view liners and 4 amfleet is nice. I do both via and Amtrak but the via version only runs with Bachman venture cars. Shucks

I bought one (Rock Island) with a similar motor issue from my local hobby store, and it was traced to the commutator not being cleaned. It still runs to this day with the original motor

I really thought about buying a NW class A and Y6A or B from BLI as soon as they rerelease the models….. Now I am really hesitant. As I am from Germany and can’t easily send them back to America if there is a problem. Any other American brand that makes these locos and doesn’t have these many problems?

I was curious if you had any luck finding a baggage car, dining car or even a proper steam engine to run it authentically... I had an internet search and couldn't find anything.

Well this video got my 8 year old in my lap for 40 minutes or so... and here dad wanted to just relax. But $65 for these sets? Wow, that is a decent deal. I can't get away from the irony that the DCC sound decoder cost more than the set though.

Apparently some dealers don't want to get involved with after sales service. That is bad, especially for hobby products like model railroading. Years ago, there was "Red Caboose Hobbies" in NYC, who, if you happened to call during his lunch break, he would curse you out on the phone. Did that to me once, never bought from him again and eventually was shut down due to non payment of taxes. The BLIs look good but they sure seem to have their problems. Personally, I just don't like their sound system. The "chuff" just sounds like white noise. I use TCS, Tsunami 2, then ESU.
