So we decided to share our house by doing a little video tour. The house is called Beechlea and it is located in Kintore, just a few minutes west of Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland.

I have been fortunate enough to see some beautiful places around the world. In my travels I have never seen such a beautiful landscape as this one on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Skye and the mainland of Scotland both have many magnificent places, but none have compared with The Quiring. During our short stay I visited twice - once at dawn and once in the middle of the day. As great as this fo...

I live in Aberdeen, born and bred, and it has been so interesting seeing the Granite City from above. I’m retired now with lots of time on my hands so you have reminded me of many places I can revisit for some beautiful walks. We are very privileged in Aberdeen to have so many beautiful parks, aren’t we? Thank you for this amazing video🙏🏴

Absolutely! So glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for the wonderful videos on Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire!
You are welcome. I very much enjoyed making them!
It’s pronounced tol-hoon castle (tolquhon castle)
Thankyou for such great suggestions of places to visit in Aberdeenshire. We're looking at coming to Scotland in August '25 and have been wondering where to stay and what to see and I was considering this area as a base, that's how I found your video, thank you for your time.
Great. I'm glad the video has been helpful. You will love Aberdeenshire. I have one more video I made about the shire with 10 more places (and less castles). That may be helpful... Enjoy!
Home sweet home
Nice video have just spent my first summer in Aberdeen and it was beautiful...it's a lovely city ..not to crowded and serene...nice one keep up the good work 😊😊
One of the first videos I have seen on Aberdeenshire made by an outsider without bias, and very well done. I am from NE Scotland but lived all over, as far as Inverness, I lived close to Corse Castle ruin in a place called Cushnie for about 15 years, that castle is unfortunately becoming a bit too unstable and will likely have a big collapse in a decade or so. If you carry on from Corse Castle towards Tarland there is a great view over the Cromar valley towards the mountains of Lochnaggar, Mount Keen, Morvern and Clachnaben, great area for walkers and mountain bikers. Craigiever Castle is also an attractive little keep close to Corse Castle ruin. If you like outdoor pursuits like kayaking, gliding, shooting, fishing, hill walking, mountain biking, climbing and even wind surfing (plenty wind on the North Sea but cold) Aberdeenshire caters for all of it. Great thing is we have plenty of space and it is not crowded
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video... We miss Aberdeenshire (the scenery and our friends there). Especially when it's so hot in Texas at the moment!!!
The Quirang looks stunning. You have captured it really well. ❤
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
👍👍
This is a great video. Really well shot. Thanks.
It looks like it didn't really benefit from the oil business.
Moving here this year. I’m pretty darn excited
All the best with your move. It's beautiful!!!
My House❤
I have liniage tracing back to the Burnetts at Crathes Castle. 🏰 I love genealogy !!
I'm somewhat disappointed that you didn't show Footdee (Fittie) the first social housing in Aberdeen dating back into the 1600's. It orriginally had two squares but they built a middle row to meet housing needs. Footdee or Fittie to the locals is opposite the Torry Battery and approching from the other direction just past the Cadona's Funfair and heading to the harbour. Another worthy place is Provast Skene's house dating back to the 1600's (I may be wrong on the date) but Aberdeen council when demolishing St. Nicolas House in 2014 built another monstrosity covering the Provast's house from view. It's still there you just need to cross to the other side of Marshall Collage and go round the back of the glass monstrosity and you will find access to the house. The Duke of Cumberland stayed here for 6 weeks on his march north to the battle of Culloden Moor on 16th April 1746. Other places of note are The Art Gallery on Schoolhill. There are other places in the city facing to the harbour is Provast Ross's house which has all sorts of displays and information about The Oil Industry.
Why would William Wallace be infamouse he fought for his country in less you are English
Going there this summer,is it worth visiting?
Absolutely!
You need to import colored paint urgently. The city looks like a gray cemetery from up high.
As a child traveling from Norfolk to Macduff every Summer to visit my family this swimming and boating lake we’re Big part of the holiday absolutely loved it 🥰
es un lugar recomendable Aberdeen con un chico de 10 años?
Dunnottar, that's my family's old place 😊 My mum was a Keith, descended from a son of Robert Dunnottar, the Rev. James Keith, Colonial clergy, who sailed to America from Aberdeen in 1640s to set up a parish at Bridgewater Massachusetts where his parsonage still stands 😊 I've read he "filled New England with Keiths" including my Grampa Bill's greatgreatgreats😊 I never knew any of this until I retired in 2019 and jumped into Ancestry during Covid.I so wish my mum were still around to know it too, she'd have loved it!❤ Thanks for posting.
Aberdeen keeps popping up in my RUclips feed since my Ancestry research brought me to Scotland, Aberdeenshire, the Earls Marischal and Dunnottar! How Id love to visit and explore there, but I'm now 75, living in Vermont USA, and doing most of my travelling on RUclips 😊
I am headed to Aberdeen around mid July to teach a class - watching these videos is getting me excited to go!
Have a great trip!!!
Best fish and chips on the planet in Stonehaven.
Wonderful background music - what is it?
Great question. It took me a little time to find it... It's called Never Ending Love by Neil Cross. Was originally sourced through Storyblocks but no longer seems to be there. It currently can be found at this link: www.audiomicro.com/orchestral-flowing-spacious-never-ending-love-royalty-free-stock-music-846489
As long as you dont visit Aberdeen as its such a filthy stinking depressing SHITHOLE and this is down to the Council who have been running Aberdeen into the gutter for over 40 fkin years
I was born in Ellon in 1960 - but only because Peterhead didn't have a maternity hospital then! Although I left the area in 1973 I'm still a "Buchan Loon" - my attachment to North East Scotland is very strong. I had a feeling Slains might be your fav spot. My own children are in their 30s now and I took them to Slains from an early age. During our infrequent visits now from our homes in Midlothian, a visit to Slains is always on our list. Thank you for posting such an interesting, high quality, video.
Thanks for your message. So glad that you enjoyed it… Slains and the Bullers of Buchan are spectacular!!!
My grandmother was born in Aberdeenshire in 1892 and moved to Canada in 1912. She never made it back home to see her family. I’d love to go there.
Great video, thank you. I want to move to rural Scotland but am torn between Aberdeenshire and Inverness-Shire. I prefer trees and lush green valleys to the more remote moorlands. Would you say Aberdeenshire is best? 🦋
Both are beautiful… I would favor Aberdeenshire for 2 main reasons. One being sunshine - the east coast statistically gets more sun. The second is accessibility to the rest of the UK is quicker and easier from Aberdeenshire.
@@HarlieRaethel thank you, that's really helpful 🌷.
Born in Aberdeenshire I go home every year to see family Sat on the Mither Tap many times I LOVE Bennachie
I live in a granite house in Aberdeen, plenty room but a devil to heat. You put on a coat when you visit us, not take one off.
Thanks mate ... that was awesome. You sound like an Aussie? Taking my family to Scotland soon to Aberdeenshire ... Banff in particular.
Yes, I’m Australian. Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you have a great trip. I’m sure you will!
@@HarlieRaethel... Same ... Thanks cobber ... will do.
Lived in Stonehaven most of my life, don't forget to visit at Hogmanay for the Fireballs its a truly special event.
Yes!!! For anyone who is wondering, Hogmanay is the Scots word for the last day of the old year and is synonymous with the celebration of the New Year.
Sad to se a master piece like that in ruin
All a little bit.
I was born in Aberdeen and lived in many different places in Aberdeenshire and it is a genuinely beautiful part of the world.
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Born in Kintore. 70 years ago. In Kingsfield Road. Down past the amazing Church. The cemetery at the top on the way to Inverurie. School. Cycled most days when I worked at Hays in Inverurie. Golf course. The Shakin' Briggie. Chippie. 3 hotels. Torryburn, Crown and Kintore Arms. The old fountain in the square in front of an amazing building. Scott the Bakers. Cafe in school road. The football team. And especially the cricket team when KintoreCC were top dogs in the Aberdeenshire Grades League. Moved to Inverurie for a short while. Then to Aberdeen. Graduated from Aberdeen University and moved to London where I now live with my wife of 50 years and a huge family to boot. Miss the old place. Life was simple in the 50s and 60s. Thank you for the memories. Tears come easily.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you!
Lovely. I have an Aberdonian Victorian from 1860. The period features are exquisite too, wouldn’t change them for the world. Would love to see your place in Texas, bet it’s huge!
Glad you enjoyed... The new house isn't too huge but it is from local stone (limestone) and is a work in progress.
Never thought I'd say it, but I really miss Kintore!! Great footage but sad to see the house I grew up in all modernised. Had to laugh at your pronunciation of Tuach Hill 😂
Glad you enjoyed the footage!
It will always be Kininvie castle to a Leslie
I am here because I just traced my grandmas lineage, her maiden name is Carroll and just learned that Andrew First Lord Fraser of Muchalls is my 14th great grandfather and he finished the Castle Fraser build so now I really want to go see Castle Fraser

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it...
I liked your video but was surprised not to see Drum Castle on your list.
Thanks. There are MANY other great castles (like Drum) that I didn't get a chance to visit or film with the drone. Aberdeenshire is a great place to explore!
It's an amazing video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
