I took a walk from the odl US Navy Base (now SBMA) over to Olongapo and snuck some video over the construction fence to see what was going on. What I saw was unbelievable!

I took a bus to Subic Bay, specifically SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority) freeport zone. I couldn't accomplish everything I had intended, but I was able to walk around the area and see some of the sights. Another adventure.

I was stationed at Clark AFB when the Volcano Erupted and after everything was settled there was talk about making this area like Disneyland with a big Amusement park 😮😮😮😮😮 I really couldn't see that happening....
I really love how you are able to live in both countries and that is my goal in the future. I have a house in California Santa Barbara area and I have a house in Mexico that I stay full time. My house in California is in Escrow and I plan to go to the Philippines for 9 months of the year and stay in Mexico 3 months of the Year ..I don't want the headache of building a house so I'm looking to buy a Condo in the Davao area. I have not met a pilipina yet but that is not a big deal once I get there. Im a retired Military Pilot and served 30 years in the US Air Force so I know my way around Asia and Europe.
I was stationed in the Philippines for 3 years, USN, TAD to Vietnam '72-74. Went back after I got out and used the GI Bill to go to UP.. My Filipina wife and I have been married almost 50 years now. Thanks again for watching.

Im new Here.... I'm always fascinated with guys my age living in the Philippines. I lived there 6 years in 1980s and now I'm retired in Mexico... Have a Safe trip back to the US

@@TheMccluref I'm not in a position to retire ye but we've been going back and forth for several years now. There is an expat community in SA is you are interested in that. Mostly ex military, US, Au, German, I think some from NZ. and perhaps others. If I can provide any info that isn't in one of my vlogs let me know..

We eat the rice, give some away, especially to extended family. Peanuts are mostly sold at the market, but I get my share. Boiled and or cooke in oil, some with garlice an some with garlic and small hot red peppers. Great to hear from you guys and thanks for watching my channel. Maybe we could get together sometime.

I think you’re referring to the Bougainvilleas. I think the main reason cemeteries tend to be above ground is that the water table is quite high. I’ll do some research in the morning and if I find out anything different, I’ll let you know. Thanks for watching. Incidentally there will be a flog coming up in which I give a tour of the front yard and you get to see all of the flowers and plants about two of which I know the names of.😄
I have asked around and tried to research it. It appears to be...because that's the way it's done. Could be due to water table or in precolonial times some tribes would place the remains in a log coffin and hang it from a cliff so the person could more easily get to the afterlife. Maybe some leftover there. Hard to tell. .My brother-in-law is buried in another town underground with a simple flat stone marker while across the lane are mausoleums bigger than our house. I may have some pictures, but not with me now.

My YT channel is no longer going, but I leave reels on FB now that I no longer do the YT videos. It was hard maintaining a page called This is Our Philippines when I was not doing videos from there. Good hearing from you. I look forward to seeing you and having pancit if I get up that way again. I'm back working for the same company that gave me that opportunity before.
