Still using on farm an 1965 DB Implematic with 12 speed g/box option and rare optional power steering, supplied by Days machinery in Casino NSW Australia. Rust free and first time starter after 58 years, our property's modern computer controlled tractors are far less reliable and won't see anywhere near this life although an old 570 Cummins powered Case Industrial loader is doing pretty well!

Sad loss to Meltham when Brown's shut. Most of my family worked there at one time. Many happy memories of trips and a sneaky shandy at Meltham Hall

I have an 880 selectomatic and a 995 - I am looking at buying another possibly a 990 - Oh and my name is David Brown too lol! I belong to a local David Brown club in Ontario, Canada. The one built in the 70s were probably the best quality.

I can't for the life of me understand why David brown tractors aren't still being made!If their all as good as the ones used around my area I guess it would be hard to sale many new tractors,because honestly these tractors never seem to break down very often at all,the only ones I've seen give trouble is from letting them set out in the rain then if the gearshift levers have broken rubber boots water gets into the hydraulic oil .This is the main cause ,if kept clean and kept out of the weather they seem to last forever .My dad purchased a 990 new in 1965 my brother has the farm now and that old tractor is still going strong !53 years old now!He says its still his go to tractor when the newer ones fail! To bad we don't revive the factory those Brits know how to build engines!If you doubt this look at ww2 the rolls Royce merlin engine turned the american made mustang fighter plane into an in beatable plane!

We owned the Red 990, 1967 1200, 1970 1200, 1976 1212, and 1975 1412. They were all the most wonderful and reliable tractors! My favourite one was the David Brown 1412!

Thanks for sharing the video of the auspicious occasion of the last tractor built at Meltham. Though it was badged in Case IH livery, it was certainly a David Brown.

Tractor fever, luckily, there is no cure.

It is due to pepole like this, simple men with a shed and an affection for their chosen interest that has saved so much for the rest of us to enjoy. Good luck to you both.
