Dust and Trails

We are on a journey. Some, see the destination; some dream of a destination; and for some, the road itself is the destination.
Rooted in Bengal, grew in a very traditional middle class family, having dream of prosperity, surrounded with enormous dos’ and donts’, fear, uncertainty, restriction, ritual and so on; I always tried to find a way out; may be to escape. So I started running for no real reason; just like Forrest Gump, at least he had Jenny who told him “run Forrest, run”. I left the home country more than a decade back to work in a middle eastern country; sought and got residency in a country belong to developed world, states of which are nominated as best cities in the world continuously for years. Then again, I take a moment, think and concentrate, where really I belong - my birth country or where I live for living or where I am offered 2nd nationality; and I find my weird situation - I belong nowhere; I belong to the road. Here the story begins for "Dust and Trails".

Windmill and Valley
This windmill is near to small town named Jamestown, a couple of hours drive to north from Adelaide, South Australia. Nested in a valley, the drive is absolutely scenic and stunning.

Oman border was closed for almost a year and a half since Covid started. I've been to Oman at least 20 times as I am in love with the lifestyle, picturesque landscapes, friendliness of the Omani people and Hajar mountain range. I always look for scenic off-road drives and I was dying to explore the drive from Khasab till Limah. So, immediately after the border opening, I had this trip to Musandam.

Wadi Khasab to Rhowda has changed a bit since I was last there in January 2006!
Wow! Was it the same route? The road I took does not look like built in 2006.
@@DustandTrails The one that goes up the hill and past the listening station at the top before it drops down the other side, it was very narrow, ungraded, sheer drops, no barriers. I have some pics somewhere.

From UAE, you need to cross the UAE-OMAN border at Ras Al Dahra in RAK. Off-road comes if you want to go to Limah from Khasab. Please see the 2nd part of this video in this link - ruclips.net/video/VAUI59UA_XM/видео.html

Shared route From Khasab to طريق ليما via طريق جبل السيح. 1 hr 53 min (63 km) 1 hr 53 min in current traffic Avoiding tolls This map is up to Rowdah mountain start point. You need to be at Khasab port in Musandam. Once you are in the port, you'll see many boats waiting for passengers. Some are big ones and some are small. Depending on your interest and number of people, you can hire a boat by yourself or share with other people. Usually, with a good bargain, you should be able to book for 4 hours @ 7-9 Omani Rial per person. For 8 hours, it will be 13-16 rial. If you have sufficient time, better to go for 8 hours.

Can't recall the ticket price but not more than AED 50 per person if I'm not wrong
