Your a artist in many ways sir, your amazing. You and your brother made your parents proud. It truly is a journey of trial and error in woodworking and your an inspiration for the process. Just the way you composed this video is stunning so relaxing and genuine with the knowledge and experience from your perspective is so well done

Excellent work. Absolutely beautiful. This is an ultimate display of focus and attention to detail. Tell your brother his piano compostion and playing is soothing and a great accompanyment to displaying your craft. Btw maybe you said but how long between cutting into the log at home and the first time you oil the piece? Do we have a certain time frame we need to finish our project?

Thank you😊🙏🏾 and as for how long you should wait before oiling 🤔 I don’t have any rule for that I wait until the wood is dry, usually when you carve a thinner shape it doesn’t take long for it to dry can be several days

Before oiling you should clean the surface with water and let it dry. This will make the wood fibers soak water and make it less smooth. Then you can sand it away with your finest sandpaper you use before oiling and then oil it. The oiling result will be much smoother. If you won't do the water+sand trick, this fiber grittiness will come anyway, but after oiling. Which is particularly bad if you oil only once. If you do oil more than once, then the reached result can be the same, but the water trick will save you time, effort, oil and extra oiling step.
