How I prevent cracks when collecting wet wood
A short video showing what I do to ensure my wet pieces of wood don’t develop cracks while drying. This video was initially created for my Patreon members, but I’ve decided to share it here as well (:

In one of your videos, I saw that you collected wood near Prague, do you live in the Czech republic? And I love your videos, they are relaxing in a unique way 😄
Wow, the sound of the wood, the music, the dog, your explanation - wow. I need to watch some knife sharpening videos and find some wood
I love this I myself make wooden spoons and am trying to make bowls thanks for showing me how 👍❤❤👍👍
Ебать. Управился. Кусок дерева с середины выризал 🤦.
Both the music and the bowl are lovely, thank you so much.
Mochi is excited for the finishing phase! You are so talented. ❤
She’s also a fan of walnut oil😁
I would love to see a tutorial on how to make a simple box. Thank you again for introducing me to wood carving.
I might make a RUclips video showing how I make a box in the future, I actually filmed the process of making this specific watercolour box for my Patreon 😁
@nadavartandwood Patreon 😆
It's videos like this that RUclips was made for documentary, calm , informative , sharing passion, no annoying editing and effects, no screaming and fake energy , these days RUclips is filled with scamers selling courses and stupid challenges it's hard to find beautiful high quality videos like this just you and the video ❤️❤️🌱🙌
Thank you for your kind words ☺️🙏🏾 I hope you’ll find more calming videos, I agree with you these days it feels quite overwhelming here on RUclips
I love it!
can you make a tirrage whit one sculpture for your suscriber
I’m not sure what you referring to 🤔 😅
very beautiful spoon. thank you for sharing. beautiful dog!
that is a very beautiful bowl. thank you for sharing
Thank you for all your kind words ☺️🙏🏾 they warm my heart ♥️
do you have a goat?
🤔 one day I’m sure I’ll have one 🤓🐐
Hi Nadav I am also interested in carving fallen wood rather then cutting a live tree, how do you know what type of wood it is though? For example I often cannot tell the difference in an already cut piece of wood between oak and pine and other wood types?
I look for the leaves and take a picture, I either use a tree guide or I use google lens. Some pieces I can already identify just by carving them, seeing the patterns and feeling how condensed the wood is (:
Im soon gonna start carving and your videos are such an inspiration. Thank you so much, hello from France 🇫🇷
How do you sharpen your knives, what do you use for it?
I have two videos dedicated for This subject, you should check them out 😁
Спасибо Вам за то что делитесь своим опытом. Всего Вам Доброго.
Amazing
Such a well done video I'm really enjoying watching keep up the fantastic work buddy
Thank you😁🙏🏾
I'd love to be able to whittle in such a beautiful area, seems so soothing. Also, nice forks! I should give that a try :3
Is there a reason you keep the oil in such a tiny vial?
I just like how it looks 😁
Lovely video. When the green bowl dries, do you have to go back and reshape the foot?
In this specific one I didn’t need to but it can happen, I would probably use some sandpaper on a flat surface (:
This needs more likes, way to be a real guy using his mind and his hands 💪
😁🙏🏾
Magnific
I’ve just started my first spoon and now after watching you I feel more confident, especially with tackling the bowl of the spoon. Thanks
Happy to hear that😁 good luck and stay safe!
Interesting, I've always been told higonokami knives were terrible for carving, so I've never tried using mine. I'll have to get it sharpened up and give it a try.
I removed the secondary bevel so it would be easier to carve with, also after a while the brass handle can dig in to the hand, I'm making a wooden sheath/handle to make it more comfortable (:
Which tree are u carving?
I am not sure with this one 🤔 I got the branch as a gift and with no information 🤷🏽♂️
красота❤, соковыжималка для лимона- делали такую из дерева?
Never tried to carve lemon juicer, but sounds like a good idea (:
Carved from fallen eucalyptus branch, full process video (16:29min) on my Patreon
Is it safe to eat on it? How you clean this bowl?
I clean my wooden utensils with water and soap, though this one was more intended to use as a small tray for dry objects (:
Very beautiful
Wonderful bowls, very nicely made. I do have one question though, when carving bowls and spoons I always get to a point where I can't get it smooth with my hookknife. When trying to cut off some of the fibers at the deepest part, it will always grab fibers from the other direction. Yet your work is so incredibly smooth. Do you have advice on what I might be doing wrong?
at the moment I'm able to have a smooth bottom only with a hook knife, having a lot of light and with a very sharp hook knife gently removing the final layer from both sides. but for a long time in the beggining I used sand paper 😅
Ahh I see, more practice it is then! Thanks!
It gently touches my heart deeply!
So cute!
I love that pattern on the outside, especially as I was just talking to my mate today about maybe having a go at growing morels in the garden to eat up some of my shavings and wood chips, in a kind of circular way. I’m inspired yet again, to up my game on the finger bowls I’ve been carving for the last couple of months, as I’ve been letting the wood talk to me. Thanks

Peaceful and educatiing. Thanks
Which oil do you use? Looks like a edible oil.
Walnut oil(:
Beautiful 😮🫶
These four small bowls were carved about a year ago, two from maple wood and two from plum. At that time, carving became my way of escaping pain and frustration. It seemed like carving was the only thing that could distract me from these emotions, but in a way, it helped me process and move through them, giving me the mental space and freedom I needed. For that, I am eternally grateful. 🙏🏾 🪵🌱 Carved from maple and plum, finished with walnut oil.
What brand walnut oil do you use?
Nothing specific, I use what I find in nature/health shop😅
makes you want to try it too very nice work looks so natural as if the wood has grown just for this bowl
What type of wood do you use? and where do you get it?
This one is plum wood I got from a neighbour, but usually I go look around me for freshly fallen trees and branches (:
This was so therapeutic to watch. I’ve been wanting to carve spoons forever. I bought a whittling kit Last spring and am inspired to use it now! Thank you!
Good luck and stay safe!😁
