@3:05-3:11 - I can’t help but notice that handwriting isn’t made by the same person. You can tell it’s at least two different people that wrote that for this movie.
Nostalgia is a powerful feeling. Current movies absolutely can do this. Art is still alive, and the tools are better than they ever were. It's a great thing, think abundance. This doesn't take away from the beautiful work done here. Just don't stop here.
There's some magic to scenes like these that reminds me of the magic in scenes from other movies such as Neverending Story and Willow. I don't know if it's mere nostalgia for the past, but those movies touched some sort of organic beauty and truth that was very human. Current movies don't do that. Only Lord Of The Rings came somewhat close to that.
Yes! It's a credit to the talent of the writers, director, the actors, and John Williams that a) you don't predictably know from the star this little green trickster is really Yoda, the great Jedi master and then b) once we do know, we are able to suspend disbelief and really believe that a green, inanimate piece of foam and cloth is a real character, one with unthinkable knowledge and strength who is truly one with the Force. Magical filmmaking here, folks.
I absolutely love this film. Remarkable performances, stunning cinematography along with a fitting music score. I don't understand how anyone could not appreciate it
Yes. The emotional background and spiritual capacity to take it in as it's meant to be as an work of art. People either give an A+ or a C-. There's no middle ground. And you just want to hug the C- crowd for their inability to get it.
It may not be ENTIRELY fair to say it is an IQ test. But as I used to tell my own students, it is fine for you to say something is "stupid" (or you don't like it) AFTER you understand it. But you can't call it stupid BEFORE you understand it, as you have no way to make any assessment of it. The movie was an epic poem...and too many people were trying to read it as a recipe for cookies because, you know, they like cookies. That's not a criticism of the movie, but the audience.
6070 is flat wrong.The problem is that this film is beyond some people. They don't have the tools to get it, so they they don't think there is anything to get. If there wasn't anything to get, the movie wouldn't have lasted this long, and certainly wouldn't have an 88% audience tomatometer rating. (I was actually student teaching in and English class when the movie came out. The students hated it--because they didn't get it. I had seen it before the teacher, recommended it, and she LOVED IT.)
@reubenm641 You're right though mistakes were made. But then again...(see what I did there?) TWBB is still better for more reasons THAN I care to explain. Happy now? Besides I am not writing to have my grammar scrutinized. I am writing to express an opinion. If you don't like my opinion perhaps you should argue your case for Magnolia and not against my grammar. Perhaps we can start a proper debate on the topic. If you are that way inclined.
@Joobs0917 well we're also talking about a dead guy (Qui Gon) who Luke would never meet, vs a still living being (Yoda) who Obi Wan would of probably introduced to Luke so Luke could get more training...
@Singerazboi100 it was a mix, Yoda trianed Obi Wan in some ways, but Qui Gon took Obi Wan as his padawan (remember how Yoda trained a bunch of younglines in episode 2)

The best movie made since Citizen Kane and 2001: a Space Odyssey

Magnolia has the most emotional climaxes I've ever seen in a film. It's also brilliant.
0:00, 1:28,1:50, 2:17, 2:40
it is all about ricky jay
Anyone notice how he needed a 2, but got an 8? 8...2...

Same here. It's beyond belief.
Same here. It's beyond brilliant.
1 dislike? AW, COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or as long as you have a dead master who has returned as a force projection to defend you?
5:52 yes.
Luke sure was one cocky SOB after he blew up the Death Star, wasn't he?

@IDesignsAUS why am i killing you?
@theDAMNEDproductions the best part of that is the, "hmm!" lol
Anyone else think that when Yoda says "You will be....you WILL be..." 3:07 that he looks like a crazed meth addict xD
"never his mind on where he was hmm... what he was doin"
so powerful how luke is exposed for the angry kid that he is.
@locd2death yell maybe R2 shouldn't have fought Yoda for the flashlight!
@Magn0liafan your lame. This film makes no sense and relies too heavily on audience interpretation, and not enough on its own merit as a story.

@reubenm641 regardless, TWBB is better.
@Singerazboi100 Ignore the prequels.
@IDesignsAUS your an idiot if you think that.. TWBB is way more engaging then M. For more reasons then i care to explain. Your wrong.
