Looks great! How long would something like this (made out of ground-contact pressure treated) last before rotting?
This is so helpful! Thank you! The space between the wall and where the shelf is - is that just the thickness of the wall mounted standard? (~0.5in)
Thank you for doing this. I recently used Rubio Monocoat pure for a walnut desk I've built. The first coat came out streaky so I sanded it with 220 and will prep it for a second coat of Monocoat. I normally use Sam Maloof's Poly/Oil finish and have always had great results but it requires multiple coats with multiple days of curing in between. I figured Monocoat, though almost double the price, would be a great alternative. Once I get this second coat of Monocoat on, I'll be able to decide whether continuing to purchasing Monocoat should be part of my routine. Thank you very much.
Great job, just wish the plans were in metric
Very nice thanks for sharing
Thank You, I know this is years later but it has helped me a great deal entering G Code
Such attention to detail and explanations to help the DIYer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I really appreciate the work you did to present the test in such detail. It really helps. I would choose Look Ipe to refinish my cedar adirondack chairs and tables. Thank you
New Shapeoko XXL Pro owner and new subscriber to your channel here. Question. For no reason at all, my Shapeoko is not longer recognizing or calculating the surface area correctly. Ex. When I rapid position to the SW corner or Center, the router tries to go farther left than it can going to the SW position and the center is no where near the center. This just happened. I used the machine with no problem last week. So do you know how to get the machine to go back to way it was a week ago. Have to admit I am not comfortable messing with the MDI. Would updating the software help? Any advice you have is greatly appreciated.
I never met this issue before. Suggest you contacting Carbide3d directly. They are quite helpful based on my experience.
@@SunridgeStudio Did exactly what u said, and after 7 days, they replied with reinstall my XXL. It worked. No problems with surface area since. Very happy to be back in business. Somehow, the coordinates got screwed up.
Very detailed and precise description and work, just not sure about timber in contact with ground, also the tampering of the soil between the frames will reduce water runoff.
I need to advise my cabinet maker which stain I want for white oak cabinets and I’ve decided that this Rubio mono coat is the look that I want compared to most. My kitchen has wood tile floors that leans slightly gray or greige and my island is going to be, a blue color with just a little bit of green in it. I want a very neutral wood tone that will go with a Mediterranean house and my blue island. Do you have a suggestion. I don’t mind if it has a little warmth, but I don’t want orange or red tones
Rubio has many colors. I would suggest you purchase the test samples of all the candidate colors, and then apply to the the same type of wood you plan to use. Then you will know which one is the best. It is a worthy investment.
does the tip-on mechanism also function as a latch? meaning; the drawer will stay closed even when pulling, tugging on it (or sliding open with weight)?
tip on mechanism does not impact the pulling. The drawer can still be pulled out with a little bit of force, just like normal soft close drawers.
Que maderas usaste ?
Beautifully planned and executed! I feel like I can tackle my own stair project now
You make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing! Where is the Tip-On in this demo?
For tip on, see 4:37 of the video
Turned out very nice. Great Job!
Looks very nice.
Hi . Great video . By the way what did you use for plywood finish ? Any wax oil or varnish ?
Thank you! I used rubio monocoat.
@SunridgeStudio which rubio as there are so many
@@danthechippie4439 Rubio Monocoat Super White
Thank you so much for your hard work and sharing your plans! I’m using them right now for my miter saw. 🙏🏼
Great video and what an amazing job you have done, just one question, how is the very first step fixed, just with rebar into the ground as there is nothing to screw into?
Thank you! Yes, just rebar. The first step (the lowest step) is much larger than the normal steps. So I can use more rebar to stabilize it.
Which color is similar to American walnut?
Thank you for posting…I very much enjoyed watching!
when that domino didn't go in first shot "one of us! one of us!"
Really nice!, thanks for sharing. Which of these woods would be more similar to Swamp Ash?, which one would behave similar to swamp ash for this work?
On the white oak, the oil poly, water poly, pure, and black, were the only ones that still looked natural. the rest looked stained or like they had some tint or sheen on them. I was looking at this because I have two pieces of oak and one looks fairly light and natural and the other looks darker and and wanted to see how to make them match. The pieces looked like black, and water poly in tone. So these ones I mentioned look like natural tones across the spectrum of possible white oak tones
Nice demo! Thankyou!
beautiful. great jig and process
great info . thank you
wow... thank you so much. I will work to replicate this with my Kapex Miter saw and make allowances for storage of systainers below. I am so grateful. thanks again.
Great Video!
Awesome video!
Great video - nicely laid out and explained each step in a clear way. Thank you for this.
Thank you, cheers!
Ash grey on the Oak for me... Thanks for the testing
Thank you so much for the video as well as the FREE plans! I am planning to begin work on this in the spring once I can roll my saw into the driveway again. This is a terrific video. I know these take a great deal of effort to put together (the video) and appreciate the time and energy you have put into this.
Thank you, cheers! Good luck with the build!
Can plans be made available in a more common software? Maybe Acrobat?
Thank you for the great video. Could you tell me where you got the 2x6 from? I like the pattern on them
Thank you! The pressure treated lumber is from a local lumber store, Dunn Lumber. At my area, all ground contact grade pressure treated lumber has those pattern.
Great video One of the best I’ve seen yet I have one question How much of a gap is left between cabinet face and drawer face back? Thanks in advance
Thank you! If I remember correctly, it shall be 3mm. The manual of tip on device should specify this. This gap is needed for tip on mechanics to react and then push out the drawer.
Awesome detail and visual
nice explanation with demo. the problem is i have to pushing hard to close the drawer, possible to adjust?😊
Thanks! That is the side effect of tip on function. If you put things into the drawer to make it heavier, it shall be easier to close. If the issue still exists, then you probably can choose a tip on device with lower weight rating. Blum tip on device has several different weight ratings.
Would have subscribed but link to plans don’t work so have to assume entire channel is useless
Thanks for your interest! I just verified the link with another account. It still works. Please make sure you can open google drive, as the file was shared through google drive. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing.🤗 Very helpful.
Really helpful video, thank you
Great work, great test.
Great work, great test. It shows the appearance of colors in all pains and sizes!
Vanilla, Natural and Cornsilk all look so similar, I wish there was a comparison of these similar shades.
Very nice upgrade
Great build! I just bought this table; I'll have to attempt a similar upgrade in the future....thanks for sharing.
So basically you controlled the rise with digging more or less out of each step and followed the slope?
That is right. The rise of each step is the same. But the widths can be different. One the upper portion steps, the widths are much larger as the slope is more gentle.
Love the idea. Simple and pretty
How do the stairs drain water?
Water will just flow along the slope. The gravel under the lumber will help water to drain.
