Storm Pia in Southern Sweden | Strong Wind, Rain & Hail
Storm Pia brought extreme winds, reaching up to 159 km/h (44 m/s) in Denmark. Southern Sweden experienced slightly lower wind speeds, but the impact was still significant. The storm also affected southern Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. Besides the strong winds, Storm Pia caused high coastal waters, hail, heavy rain, and in some places, sleet or snow.

On the evening of the 26th of February, 2023, I for the first time ever saw Northern Lights (also known as Aurora Borealis) from my apartment in Helsinki (Finland). Exactly one year ago, from 29.1.2022 to 31.1.2022, snowstorm Valtteri (in other countries named storm Malik), dropped several decimeters of snow in 3 days of time. Especially on the 29th of January, the snowfall came hand in hand with lots of wind. Until then, it was the most extreme snowstorm I had experienced. On the 21st and 22nd of February 2022, 30 cm of fresh snow fell, leading up to a total snow depth of more than 70 cm in the North of Helsinki. Lucky you, a strong experience to live such an event. Immaculate snow flowing in each direction. Do you have any records about temperature? Judging from the looks of the snow layer, the month and the area I would say about -5°C? If so, with wind gusts in the order of 80 km/h you should have a wind chill below -15°C, warranting the full face cap.
Good guess! The temperature at the time of video was actually between -9°C and -10°C, so wind chills around -20°C.
It does remind me of winters we have had in the Netherlands. Have fun out there in the snow, and bring some with Christmas perhaps?

What hotel is this? Am planning to visit end February. Is it a good time to watch the sun rising in Longyearbyen at the end of the polar night?
The video is mainly shot in front of Elvesletta, a student building from company Samskipnaden, so not a hotel. End of February is a beautiful time to visit with the sun coming back and snow scooter season being there. However, depending on the exact date, you still might need to do a snow mobile trip/climb on top of a mountain to directly receive the first sunrays!

Yes! Also, you can dress accordingly to cold weather. But there is only a limit to what you can do in warm weather.
