that was crap, love Lush though
Appreciate you checking it out, even if it wasn’t your thing. "Crap" is definitely one way to put it 😉. Seriously though, if you have any specific feedback on what didn't resonate, I'm all ears. I'm always trying to make these tutorials better.
make your techno basslines sound wider, deeper, and more immersive. Download Godfazer here: d16.pl/godfazer
You are matching volume for peaks, not RMS. Since Devastor is colouring the sound it's main or only function is not just oudness. You should aim for the same RMS (or LUFS or similair) loudness when comparing dry vs wet sound as when using compression. Otherwise, i agree, Devastor is a great tool and tutorial is good.
Good point! You're absolutely correct that matching RMS or LUFS is ideal for accurate loudness comparisons. In this tutorial, the changes from the processing are pretty drastic, so even if the loudness isn't perfectly matched, the difference should be clear. I'm prioritizing demonstrating the sonic qualities here, but I appreciate you bringing up the importance of loudness matching for more subtle changes.
so I'm going to get it to try this. does it work for drum&bass?
For drum & bass, where basslines often need to be powerful and centered, using D16 Godfazer for subtle widening can be a great way to add depth and character without sacrificing focus. Thanks for watching, and let me know how that works for you!
"Godfazer delivers huge basslines." What other stereo widening plugins do you use?
"Keeping your low-end punchy and tight." Other techniques for keeping bass tight?
"Cutting around 140Hz...solid, focused bass." Opinion on 140Hz cutoff for monoing?
"Pro techno relies on bass and drums." Favorite techno tracks with impactful bass?
"Godfazer is a powerful plugin." Other plugins you want tutorials on?

hi i was just wondering how do you make the performances fx work ?
Hi! Great question! I’ve got you covered-there’s a detailed explanation on how to make the performance FX work in this video: ruclips.net/video/iq_SB09H0mo/видео.html. Check it out, and let me know if you have any other questions!
Seriously? And you didn’t even include the sound?
Great question! The full tutorial is linked in the description of this short, where you can hear the sound in detail. Shorts are designed for quick, smartphone-friendly content, but unfortunately, most phones can't reproduce the proper low-end you’d get on studio monitors or headphones. Also, a lot of viewers watch Shorts with the sound off, so this format focuses more on the concept. Check out the full video for the complete experience!
My favorite is the AudioRealism Bass Line 3 (ABL3) and from Arturia "Acid". 🙂
I haven't made music for years. I used to use the first AudioRealism Bass line and it was incredible. Definitely the best, most authentic sound you could get from a VST at the time.
Thanks for sharing your favorites! I really like the sound of those plugins too. I'm actually working on a tutorial right now on how to make acid basslines align perfectly with the drums-should be out soon! 🎛🔊
@@Lunatix246 Have you tried D16 Phoscyon 2? I like adding other plugins to it to craft a unique sound.
@@BruceMennel I remember using the older one and I thought it sounded a bit too floaty for what I was after. At the time I was looking for a more authentic sound for London acid techno. I'm very much out of touch with it all these days.
I understand. I've been making electronic music since the late '90s, but it's not easy to keep making music when you have bills to pay. I've been there myself. If you'd like to see a specific topic or plugin covered, feel free to drop me a line anytime!
Like if Charlotte was a huge Acid Techno producer ,not even her Ghost Producer is🤣😂
Thanks for your comment! Whether Charlotte de Witte is an acid techno producer isn’t the focus of this tutorial. Her picture was chosen for the thumbnail because of the high number of searches linking her name to acid techno online. That said, I’m curious-who would you have chosen instead? Let me know!
Do you prefer crafting kicks from scratch or using pre-made samples?
What challenges do you face when trying to balance your kick and rumble? Any techniques you’ve found that work well?
What’s your biggest challenge when creating acid basslines that groove with your drums?
D16 Group Phoscyon 2 is my favorite VST plugin for creating acid lines. How about you? Got a favorite synth?
D16 Group Phoscyon 2 is my favorite VST plugin for creating acid lines. How about you? Got a favorite synth?
D16 Devastor 2 is an awesome tool for shaping your sound. A little tweaking can make a big difference. Just be careful when using it on buses or the master output!
hello. it isn't showing up to me the maschine virtual out and virtual in. its only showing "logic pro virtual in / out" . any chance you know how to fix this issue? thank you for your video
Thanks for watching 😊! Go to "Control Surfaces," then "Setup." With "Mackie Control" selected, you should see the options "Maschine Virtual Input" and "Maschine Virtual Output. Let me know if you need help with this.
@@BruceMennel Hi, me too. After setting up in control surfaces, I don't see those options, I only have "Maschine Mikro MK3" instead of "Maschine Virtual Input/Output".
@@yeehungg Thanks for your feedback! I haven't tested this with the Maschine Mikro MK3, but you can try the following: Enable Host Transport Control in the Controller Editor, load the Mackie Control template, and enable Host Transport Control. Let me know if this solves the issue.
@ yeah, I have the same settings but it still didnt came out
@@yeehungg Thanks for letting me know. Maschine Mikro MK3 integration with Logic Pro is definitely possible. I don’t have a tutorial planned on this topic at this time, but I will definitely look into it.
nice thanks
Thanks for watching! 😊 Glad you found it helpful. Is there a topic you'd like me to cover next or any questions about using FabFilter Pro-C2 or sidechaining in Ableton? Let me know👌

Nice to see Maschine stuff. Thanks man.
It fits the Maschine MK3 pads well, doesn't it?
Oh yes !!! Fx and Processing acid lines, fx and processing drums, mastering acid lines and drums, all to make a good acid track and hard acid !!! … the drums just in ableton it’s possible ? Big Thanks for all !!!
Thanks for the comment! 🙌 Yes, it's absolutely possible to process drums entirely in Ableton! Would you like me to create a tutorial focusing on drum processing in Ableton, without using Maschine MK3? Let me know, and I’ll dive into it! 😊🔥
Yes please, that would be great !
@@Jean-michel-g1w Do you use third-party plugins, or do you only rely on Ableton's built-in plugins?
With Native Instruments, Fabfilter, Ozone and an other if you want but without Maschine.

Amazing explanation, detailed and objective focused....Thank you so much for share with us. i have just a curiosity. how do you reach these numbers to set the tools in this and other videos (the numbes of %, dB and amount or patterns to...) I will be very happy and appreciated if you could share just one more tip and/or point me some paper to understand better your rational ....LOL....thank you again...
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you found the explanation helpful! 😊 As for the numbers-this is a great question. Honestly, reaching those settings comes down to a mix of experience, trial and error, and understanding the context of the track I'm working on. Over time (and after plenty of mistakes), you start to develop an ear for what works and what doesn’t. For example, when shaping the balance of a drum bus, I focus on how each element (kick, snare, hats, etc.) sits in the mix. I adjust parameters like compression thresholds, EQ gain, or saturation amounts based on how much clarity, punch, or warmth I want to bring out. If you liked this video, you’ll love the next one coming out in a few days about sound processing on a whole track. I’d love to hear your input!
Thanks! When I use the pad as a audio loop on my Maschine MK3 it is not sent to Ableton Live while recording, but when I stop recording it starts sounding :( Strange
Thanks for your question! With the Maschine MK3, you can record MIDI sequences that trigger any sample loaded into Maschine. These sequences are essentially instructions for when and how the samples should play. While you can't record audio directly into the MK3 itself, you can work with MIDI sequences to create patterns and tracks that trigger your loaded samples. Let me know if you’d like more details about setting this up!
so I can integrate my Maschine Plus with Logic and play it as I usually do but get all the sound and MIDI information recorded to Logic? I do not need to use Maschine 3??
Great question! When you integrate Maschine with Logic, you can set it up to control Logic’s transport functions (like play, stop, and record). However, this setup doesn’t replace Maschine software’s features within Logic.
@ I would have liked it to be the perfect Logic controller and instrument in my dream setup with Logic but … look for the perfect standalone that also works perfectly well with and within a DAW as a controller and as an instrument
your instructions did not work choosing mackie on windows. There is no selection for maschine virtual on Maschine ext midi and machine ctrl midi for i/os. tried both still doent work. plus you loose all other maschine functions. its basically just transport controls for maschine without any other functions.
Thanks for pointing this out! This setup works great on Mac computers, but I haven’t tested it on Windows, so there may be some differences. On Windows, I recommend double-checking your settings in the Native Instruments Controller Editor application. The Maschine Virtual ports might not appear if the Controller Editor isn’t properly configured or if the drivers need an update.
