Session 110: "Reweaving the Web"
"What's wrong with the World Wide Web? Since the mid-1990s, it has connected billions, enabling information sharing, business, and entertainment. However, companies like Google and Facebook prioritize surveilling us, extracting our data, and manipulating behavior, leading to a mistrustful online environment filled with intrusive ads, misinformation, and harmful content."
Is society at the sole mercy of Big Tech to operate this critical global infrastructure for the general wellbeing? In this new age of distrust as a default, where can one turn for unbiased digital services?
Does this vision offer new roles for libraries? Let's ask!
"In his new book, Richard Whitt outlines how our digital fu...

Exemplar presentation, it would strongly behoove the technological world to brace itself for such a seismic, fundamental metamorphosis: VERSES has arrived.

I am sure that it can make these charts faster... but as you mentioned the environmental impact is way more of a negative than the time saved.

I see you have a heart on your shelf in the background and a visible ventilator. You have carlin eyes. Unfortunately, with General Miley there's no future. I'm on RUclips and I can confirm that 75% of the content is contaminated by AI... deepfakes are a dime a dozen... I've lost count of the number of Miley variants. In addition to the 3 billion shuffle dances and the three-color google videos with children gorging themselves on food created by generative AI. Tik Tok for me is..."&?$%!! We're witnessing a dumbification of the working classes, I don't see any other challenge for teenagers other than fluoridating their heads in a toilet bowl. Good Luck!! If I were you, I'd talk to my colleagues and immediately buy many datacenters and archive the entire Internet. Hurry up and make a carbon copy of your brain till you have access! With deranged individuals like that in charge , culture won't last long.

I am still very concerned about the increased power usage of AI programs. I read the article from Nature (I think that is where it was published), but you all might want to focus on that in an upcoming session. Since many libraries are trying to be conscious of their carbon footprints and helping alleviate or at least limit the climate crises if you could look into this that would be great. Thanks!

Hello dear! I hope you are well. I visited your RUclips channel. Your content quality is very good but Your channel has very few subscribers. You have already published 90 videos. Your video SEO score is too low because your video has no high-volume keywords and no targeted keywords. So if you want to increase subscribers on your channel and get more views on your videos then you must recharge your content-related high-volume tag. Then the SEO performance score of your video will be better. And RUclips will show your video first in search results. So if your video SEO scores 80/100 by doing keyword research related to your content, show RUclips first in Google search because 95% of viewers visit the first video by searching RUclips or Google

the priority for everyone when it comes to a.i., especially its programmers, is the problem of epistemology. a.i. should be taught to arrive at objective truth, or by inductive logic, the most probable truth beyond reasonable doubt subject to modification by bayesian methods, etc. truth should be of paramount concern

But what is Ben’s view on the role of intellectual property laws in the promulgation of big tech? It’s important that everyone _thoroughly_ understands this issue and unfortunately Ben hasn’t arrived at the issue yet. *Should intellectual property laws be fully abolished?* Logically, before any question of internet de-privatization can be entertained, one must thoroughly understand _all_ the effects of intellectual property laws on the internet (& software).
