Tips on Getting Into Investment Banking | The Typical Candidate Profile
Просмотров 37 тыс.4 года назад
Subscribe to my new channel for more content @Lamideelizabeth ! Hey guys, in this video I'm taking you through what the 'typical' candidate that I have come across in investment banking looks like and what their academic profile looks like, as well as what you can do to increase your chances of becoming an investment banker. Although this video highlights the 'typical' candidate, there are many...
Thanks for making this video. It helped me.
Congratulations for converting your internship! I was just wondering, Did your manager ask you to send the weekly update emails or did you just decide on your own to do that?
Hi Olamide, this is incredibly helpful for my internship as well. However, on your point on setting goals and expectations, what kind of goals and expectations did you/should one set?
Hi Lamide, I am an international student in the UK and got an internship in a company that sponsors full-time work visas. However the internship is paid and only 5 weeks but they do hire a person based on experience. Would you say it is possible to convert that internship into a full time job?
super helpful
What do you think about non russle group unis like manchester met

Dorgival Dantas Brito INTERNATIONAL DAY GIVES WOMEN, A SPECIAL DAY. Crying Roses ~~~~~~~~~ The woman is neither an object nor a myth. It is not a symbol, an object of devotion and veneration, but of companionship. It is a being of flesh and blood. Be beautiful and wonderful, from which the passion comes. The woman is not vulnerable: inferior or superior to the man, but a beautiful being, endowed with love; worthy of attention, respect and understanding. And he did not come to stand behind or take the lead of the man, but to walk beside him. It did not come to serve or to share, but to add. Woman is not a brand or label, a symbol of love and desire, although she represents them very well, because she was given, through association with her sensitivity, the right to represent them. The woman is a great enigma; - on the girl's face the smile of a seductive young woman; in shyness it gives adolescent charm gives a charming woman and in the heart it gives warrior to courage gives a super protective mother. Women are not shoes, clothes, nail polish or lipstick; it is not an insert, a state, a system, a hairstyle; but, a sensitive and loving being, with a pure and graceful soul, worthy of verse and prose: and, if a man were a carnation for a woman, he would be a rose. The very form of man in a delicate version. Author: Dorgival Dantas Brito - 03/08/2002 Brasil
GCSE: average A-level: no comment uni: manchester met all the requirements to be an investment banker I didn't get. cant lie my dream is crumbling.
And whose to blame? Pursue a different career
In a similar predicament. 😭
Is it true that you have to work like 100 hrs a week and also what is the average pay :)
Do you have to be really really smart? I'm actually 15 at the moment. I pretty much get straight 7s,8s a and a* and love the idea of investment banking. My dreams are to either be a investment banker or stock broker. However I feel as tho I'm not smart enough. Please can u reply to this comment if u have an answer. Thanks bruh 👍 btw new subscriber 😊
Im not good at maths but i like the concept of I.Banking, can i still try to be an investment banker?
Are there any events at Bristol? Only ask caus im living in ldn rn and dont rly want to go to a ldn uni.
Is bath good? i started my first year here but I only just started thinking about investment banking.
It’s not a target uni
Shit then, guess it’s back to trapping 😔
Nah , bro We making it out
A*s !!!!!!
Great video Lamide🙂 I had a question as to how to approach to the management/authorities and ask about the opportunities for a full time job conversion towards the end of the internship period. How to go about it? How to put it up, in the best way, so that it seems appropriate?
Is there anyone from leeds uni or bristol that do investment banking?
Actually trading was not easy for me. Lost a lot of money through + 500, FBS also lost a lot of money to trading assistants and copy trader's, almost gave up on forex / Bitcoin trading. but a friend of mine introduced me to a good broker, at first I thought it was another way of wasting my hard earned savings. But my greatest surprise was my investment of $ 3,000 came out with $ 6,580 in 10 days trading ..... You just have to be patient with them till your trades are completed ..... To be honest I didn't just recovered all my previous losses .. I made much more than my past expenses .. actually she charges 15% which won't affect you in any way since her trading efficiency comes in multiples of investment ... I personally recommend Mrs Ashley trading services for best copy trading always trade with them and stop loosing your money .... reach out to her and believe me a trial will convince you Here's her contact details⬇️⬇️⬇️ +13302370789 @WhatsApp
Hello thanks for introducing her to us i actually did the trade with a loan from my friend and now with the profits i payed up and now am happy and comfortable
Wow I'm glad i did withdrew my first profit two days ago now I have another ongoing trade with her
Is IMC CFA UK helpful for an economics degree holder to get into investment banking in the UK ?
Crazy how high school determines whether or not you get into IB .... Different in North America
As someone who has gone through the IB grad scheme at Morgan Stanley, my advice is if you have the skills necessary for IB... you should probably try and go for a role in something else such as private equity or asset/wealth mngmt; far better work-life balance and the salary is just as good.
Is it possible for me to get into a top university taking Econimics, Finance and Accounting for A Levels or would I have to take maths or further maths too 🤔🤔💭
Maths is a must
If you want to study finance or economic at uni you will need maths.
I went to imperial, did chem, got a high 2.1 a levels are all STEM A*A*A, I was one of those who got to uni and had never even heard of jp Morgan or a spring week, I literally asked the guy at credit Suisse stand in first year what credit Suisse was LMAO (he was a cunt about it of course). I come from a working class family so it was kinda bizarre when I realised that you sort of already had to know you wanted to be in banking the day you got to uni. A few mates encouraged me to apply for spring weeks, application process was bizarre, asking me "why I want to work for JP Morgan" I was just like well I don't know lmao that's why I'm applying for a 1 week internship, didn't get into any. Seemed to me by graduation that it's more or less setup for kids whose parents are already in that area, without trying to sound arrogant I know people who got in and know I'm definitely smarter than them (they are still intelligent don't get me wrong). Now I run my own startup so doesn't matter, the entire pipeline type thing they have going on with banking does just seem mental to me though.
What do you do as a BSC?
You said you've seen people with Lower than AAB what the lowest grades you've seen? Just to give me some hope lol
Hello everyone: I am so excited to share my testimony on how I got my credit card fixed by Hegs Card fixer (Hackers). Nice video . I’m currently on a year placement in real estate asset management as an analyst in top firm. Something I really want to do in investment banks is real estate investing . Many of them offer summer internship for real estate investing in the asset management division - my question is : is applying before my last year of uni too late ? I know they usually take penultimate years but it’s very hard to get on a grad scheme without going through the summer analyst programme ... Thank you 🙂
Thank you !
Would you say getting econ into LSE without further maths and only single maths is less competitive? Im worried
LSE is VERY competitive for econ so without further maths it's difficult but not impossible, if your school doesn't offer further maths then don't worry but if they do it doesn't mean you can't get in. (this is what my college head told me)
I’m an international student from Canada doing a postgraduate finance degree, any advice for international students?
Thanks this video is so helpful, a really nice clear introduction to IB. If you don't mind me asking, which bank and group are you currently with? I'm just rather curious.
Which University provides Banking and finance course
Leeds but they are not perceived as a ‘target’ university.
Hi I’ve just come across your video as I am soon applying for spring weeks. Do you think A*AB is good enough to get into investment banking and will banks place less importance on a levels this year due to them being predicted.
whewwww!!!! thank God i did well in my IGCSE
Hey, I want to apply to LSE for GLOBAL MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS. It would really help if you can connect me to someone who is studying there
Search ucas
I ived in Passfield in the mid 1990s. It is way nicer now, but I enjoyed it.
It’s good to invest where you bountifully earn and have access to withdraw your profits without stress and zero labors, I was an investor of stocks but sold all off and invested on forex, I've been doing well Contact @Carlos_1uptrades on instergram his platform pays for real.. I’m very happy and it feels like am the only one enjoying this although there are people still testifying about this platform it’s legit and pays for real...
I got a few interviews, but what hurt most was my 3rd interview I think, before getting to the assessment centre for JP Morgan, London 😭😭😭. Thanks for the strategies, I really need to make up for a lot of mistakes I made in my 2nd and 3rd year.
You can do it, journaling helps, so you can reflect on what exactly you felt went wrong or see what exactly you did and try to adapt it. Patience is part of the journey, not everyone will have a straight part into banking, just keep going. You've got this!
Dope!
Manchester? Engineering student?
I’m new to your channel, have you got a video about answering competency and technical questions in interviews?
Hey, Olamides got a new channel be sure to check it out. But on your question, competency-based questions typically focus on a particular principle or value the firm has, these are usually on their website. In our experience candidates can expect to be asked questions about ways they've demonstrated those competencies in addition to the more common one's like resilience, leadership, management in general whether time, work or stress management and so forth. So practice having responses to that and focus on the RESULT! What SPECIFICALLY did you do and how did that directly lead to an outcome that supports the view that you're good at time management, or you're good at working as part of a team. Focus on being ss specific as possible with competency questions. Technical wise, it very much depends on your division and level, I.e. a Summer Internship technical interview will be a little different to a Spring one, here you want to get as much advice as possible, from past interns, current employees and so forth. Also be on the lookout for organisations like Rare, SEO and Bright Network who may be of help.
I got an offer from Cambridge but I firmed UCL over it....I think I can still swap but it’s for two really different courses and the I’m way more passionate for the course at UCL. Do it think it was a stupid decision?
Like your video! Can you talk about what a day in the credit risk like? Really interested in that.
I need to create that spreadsheet now!
Could you give some advice on how to ace the numerical and situational tests?
Gonna copy and past a response I gave to a similar question above. Olamides got a new channel be sure to check it out. But on your question, competency-based questions typically focus on a particular principle or value the firm has, these are usually on their website. With numerical it's practice practice practice and working with others who may be naturally a bit better to learn techniques and go from there. You can also buy test packs, here are some providers that firms typically use or have used. Capp Assessments Cut-e Kenexa SHL Korn Ferry
Is it a myth that chances of getting a grad scheme is very slim compared to summer internship? I am a final year undergrad and will be applying for grad schemes. However, some people say i should still aim for summer internships as they are easier to get. Could u pls provide some clarification on this. Thanks!
from my experience i think this is true. but don't give up. you can always try
Olamide Duyile exactly!! And for graduate recruitment it’s not as straightforward as the internship. They consider a lot.
Can you show a list of your fragrance collection?
Olamide Duyile yes that would be really nice. And thanks for taking the time to reply. 🙏🏽
Wow thanks so much Lams, really loved your point on intentional diversification, I’m quite set on IBD, but will look for divisions that are similar too!
I start my JPM internship today and your channel has been such a big help in getting me excited and feeling prepared!!! So glad to see you growing!!💞🤩
