Theres a really cool kayak lake in san diego- you need to bass fish Cuyumaca, they have smallmouth and it's a mountain lake. scenery is worth it and no fising pressure- must hit
@@wtfmomentinURBED1 I’ve been wanting to go to Cuyamaca for awhile now! Hopefully when the water temps get a little higher and when the fish are more active. It’s been on the wishlist for a minute. Maybe in the near future, so stay tuned! Tight lines! 🎣

@@bonez2853 thank you for the kind words! I only throw 10 or 12 pound copolymer. It’s inexpensive and does everything I need it to do. Been looking at the feathers and wanting to pick one up. How do you like them? What rod were you using with that drop shot?
@@takG6 the Feather is my absolute favorite rod! Very light, super sensitive, and very versatile. For the price range, I don’t think there’s a better rod. And their warranty, especially here in SoCal, is unmatched. I’ve gone to ECBT with a broken rod, paid my $55 replacement fee, and walked out with a brand new one no questions asked. If I had to choose one rod to use for the rest of my life, the Feather would be it. The rod I use is a Medium Heavy 7’1 paired with a Shimano SLX. Tight lines! 🎣
@ that’s awesome! Thats good to know about the warranty. I’ve heard their ratings are a bit off. Like a Medium Heavy is more of a Medium. Is that what you would say too?
@ yes, but that’s because of how sensitive they are. However, I’d say the action makes up for it. Because it’s extra fast action, there’s plenty of backbone. I’m not that hard of a hook setter but when I swing, I swing with confidence.
@@Yoitzjerrynice. I’ve been looking at getting the 7’1H 2 piece for ease of travel. Looking to use it for flukes, chatter baits/spinner baits, t-rigs/ jigs. Do you think that’d be a good model for that? Or go with the 7’1 mh?
@@takG6 I’d say yes but I’d still go for the MH unless you plan on throwing some heavy weights, then I’d go for the H. Though I’d prefer a more parabolic rod for spinnerbait/chatterbaits, the Feather will do fine. I’ve thrown up to 1oz on a MH and it did okay but I rarely throw anything over a 3/4oz. Drop shot I use a 1/4oz and I’ve thrown 1/2oz jigs with trailers on the MH.

@@rs0nGames hi! Coming from experience, I’d say buy something you can upgrade to. Even if tournament fishing isn’t your thing, having the options to upgrade if you ever wanted to get a motor is always good to have. Can’t go wrong with NuCanoe, old town, Native, or Hobie. It all comes down to budget and what your options are in regards towards storage. SoCal Kayak Anglers is having a little get together tomorrow at El Capitan from 6:30-2pm, you should come out if you can. Get familiar with the group and get advance from other people as well.

I loved to flip tulles back in the 1970s, 80s, 90s in the San Joaquin Delta. The art of Flipping was first introduced by three well known pioneers of the Ca. Delta; Dee Thomas was the first to master the technique and was a legend in the Ca. Delta. He won many local tournaments back in the 1970s. Then this technique was taught to two other well known anglers, Dave Gliebe and Gary Klein, who you may of heard of, he still fishes on the professional Bassmaster tour today. Fyi you dont fish with 6lb test at Hodges. All your doing is seting yourself up to lose a big fish.lol at least 10lb test man .
For my normal rods I use 10-12lb but for BFS, anything above 8lb is too much especially for these micro baits. Great thing about it is it forces you to be strategic with your drag and learning the limitations of your gear. Tight lines! 🎣
