As a disabled and autistic person I can wholly relate to the internalised ableism we pressure ourselves with. Like Adele said, society teaches us that we need to be go go go productive all the time and that somehow disabled folks should try as hard as possible and sod the short and long term effects. Giving ourselves grace and taking care of ourselves whether we're disabled or not is essential! Stress lives in our bodies! This was such a lovely chat, need to go and catch up on previous episodes!

Loved this. As someone who also suffers from M.E it’s so easy to beat yourself up about not getting everything done you wanted to get done. Accepting that you can only do so much is so important and remembering your health is your top priority. Thanks so much for covering this. X

So lovely to hear this. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Scoliosis, Kyphosis and Fibromyalgia. I struggle with anything social media with my business and have struggled since going to SWPC last year as still in a really bad pain and fatigue flare so my business is still closed since going. EDS effects my joints so can dislocate my joints easy and I bruise easy also don't heal well as my c-section scars from 13 and 10 years ago still open up, and also effects lots more things with my body but too much to mention. (I'm the one at SWPC who uses wheelchair/crutches and bring my husband and children in tow as they bring me to the event) Thank you so much for talking about this ladies I love you both 😘

Thank you to both of you for sharing your experiences with chronic illnesses, it was a much needed podcast for me personally, so thank you again. I have my own issues too. I had to quit my job about three years ago because of physical health problems but I have just started an art business and you are both people I follow and admire. It’s very hard to not compare yourself to others, but I try to tell myself that everyone’s journey is different but we’ll get there in the end. ❤

Adele how lovely to see you on Bec’s podcast. I to have Fibromyalgia and am mostly affected by extreme fatigue and pain which varies in position and severity. I hide it well, as many people don’t understand these conditions and aren’t always kind. 💛🩷

I had both both of what Adel had due to being born with a hole in my heart which healed. My mum cured the condition with nutritional dietary requirements. However, roll on my early 20's when my body snapped due to extreme tiredness from a impactful and stressful time with housing. I'm thankful that it happened where I couldn't see, hear, speak or walk and I went through rehabilitation and I am well now after 20 year of therapy. It also helped be do my own investigation and ask the medics in the family but also such as my consultants. My own research because I don't just hear and understand things at face value. I now know that all inflammation, diseases and illnesses start in the gut. We need to help more people know about gut health. The world is now waking up to this now as it is in charge of when we get ill and when we become well. Its kniwn as the second brain. I spoke to three Neuroscience surgeons that said I shouldn't be alive yet Im still here thankfully. Selfcare is the best thing that your body can do. Your body will always respond to any circumstance of which it feels resistance and when we listen to it you win. I got taught this by a wonderful woman called Louise L Hay who sadly passed away yet wrote the book You Can Heal Your Life and the movie too. Its no different being a parent when illness it is all down to state of mind and sometimes genes. I had to tell myself that otherwise I wouldn't have had the chance to walk, talk, see and speak again. The body is incredible in ways of repatterning and rewiring for healing. And yes it takes time to heal. Our minds can keep us well and make us sick. Now, Im on the journey with early Peri-Menopause. I cured it again through nutrition. I saw my mum do this with rare form of Cancer and recover which was a miracle but she did. She sadly died in 2020 due to Advanced Dementia but there's more to that story again with our unhealed emotional wounds are a big factor in our health. My other lifestyle business came about due to my health journeys. Hope everyone can find the path to better health care as I have found and done.
