Marcus allen number 33 was his fullback
He always got caught from behind
He was great no breakaway speed though
FANTASIC Video Melissa! I appreciate you sharing these Memories.
I was SO Happy When the Dallas Cowboys got Lance Alworth in 1971
I PLAYED 17 SEASONS AND LOVE FOOTBALL MORE THAN ANYONE CAN IMAGINE, TO THIS DAY CHARLIE WHITE IS STILL MY FAVORITE COLLEGE RB OF ALL TIME. I WISH I COULD SEND HIS GREATEST RUNS TO LINCOLN RILEY TO SHOW HIM HOW MUCH BETTER IT IS FOR A RB TO RUN OUT OF THE 'I" FORMATION!!! I HATE THE RUNNING GAME OUT OF THE SHOTGUN!!!!!!!!!: MA4CUS ALLEN WAS AWESOME TOO BUT CHARLIE JUST GOT BETTER WITH EACH CARRY!! SOMEONE PLEASE SEND HIS GREAT RUNS TO LINCOLN RILEY!!!
Charles White won the Heisman my freshman year at USC in 1979. I had a sideline pass to the 1980 Rose Bowl and watched him up close run over Ohio State to win the Rose Bowl and complete an undefeated season. Fight On! ✌🏼🤨
First LSU football game I ever went to, at the age of 9 years old. These names are legendary to me. Wore #47 in my playing days because of Hokie. Does something to my heart to see this. Thank you for this post, Melissa Terrebonne.
I know I’m unlikely to get a response, but where did you get all this footage from? I’ve been trying to find vintage Tech games online
Don’t forget Lynn Cain. He wasn’t bad either.
He was absolutely something else. Really one of the players that legitimized the AFL for sure.
If there is a Student Body Right in Heaven, #12 is there
Lance Alworth commited to ole miss ,but ole miss had a rule ,if you were married ole miss would not give a football scholarship to play football at ole miss, so Lance commited to Arkansas who did not have the same rule as ole miss had
Pound for pound, the greatest football player who ever lived.
I'm a 62 year old Western New Yorker. I was a kid when Bob played for Buffalo with JD Hill. Bob was so good with his hands and tip toeing the sidelines and end zone. So glad he left the hexed Bills and got a ring with the Raiders. Incidentally, I lived in Buffalo, but I was always a Raiders fan.
Horse shit. Tech put on the show. We kicked their buts and sent them home crying. FACTS
Watch number 33.
A great back. One of my favorites growing up.
Both him and Archie Griffin didn’t do much for the bengals. He’s in LSU college hall of fame. Griffith won the hiesman trophy twice. Both were underachievers in the pros.
He played w bert Jones on colts. He. Was so good
✌🏽
I can't say nothing bad about Charles White. Very unique and talented work horse type of back. When i was 13 and 14 years old in the late 1970s . I watched him religiously , and tried to duplicate his running style, he may not have the best NFL career, , and had his trials and tribulations along the way. But one thing can be said about Charles White, that speaks of his Character. ... He left his mark of the quality of running back that he was... In 1987 he led the NFL in rushing yards. That fact will never be erased. I give him nothing but true respect as a Running back, and as a Man. Charles White never gave up, when he very easily could have. R.I.P. bruh. You are a forever inspiration!
Not to take ANYTHING away from Charles White, but DAMN! Look at Marcus Allen's blocking!
How many six packs did the part time editing crew need to butcher this video 😮 Terrible job...
JD. Young and going
My first football hero ...one of the all time greatest ever NCAA/USC..the numbers tell half the story...setting rose bowl record with broken nose ..his open field rushing and tough inside game..his cut back run to daylight/using his blockers ...he was feared by opponents as he got stronger and hungrier as games went on.....RIP #12...charles white
Love the way he just flipped the ball to the referee and just went for the next play.
Better then rice
Nobody was more fun to watch!!!
Greatest football player ever
Student Body Left
It is still a thing of beauty to see John Hadl throw his whiplash long ball to Lance Alworth who gazelle-like would jump in the air to make a great catch, then with incredible speed Alworth would invariably beat the defender to run it in for a touchdown. Alworth was the greatest WR ever!
Charles White and I umpired baseball ⚾ together in Orange County between 1998-2004. He was a great guy. I enjoyed talking USC football 🏈 with him when he was a Trojan. He told me he enjoyed umpiring baseball. We worked youth, travel and adult league baseball. I'm not sure but I think he umpired high school baseball also but never with me. He was a good umpire and knew the strike zone behind the plate. As a kid I used to watch him play football for USC in the late 1970's. RIP #12
So proud to say this magnificent athlete is my Father-in-law.
great
God speed Charles! So proud to say that’s my Father-in-law…!!!
Notice how Lance just handed the ball to the ref ...no acting like a jack-ass like we see today by these idiot divas!!! Catch a touchdown pass hand it over to the ref with class.
RIP C-DuB man you brought joy and happiness to everyone thank you my good best friend and teammate TW #6 SC Baby 78-82 Fight ON! You will never be forgotten miss you already
Bad ass work horse! I was a full back/MLB in high school wanted to be like him #12. I loved watching him play on Saturday afternoons. Rest in peace Charles White.
Why was the other endzone painted as ole miss?
Back then, the painted one Endzone LSU and the other for the opponent. They used to have flags for all the SEC Schools at the top of the south stadium (old bowl).
Love when announcers were saying the size and strength of the OL and DL were showing up and that was against Ohio st. Got to get back to that love it!
Why do you only show 4 yard runs?
He was a lot fun to watch!!Smaller, but hard running!!To say tough would be a understatement 🏈
ABC Keith Jackson and Charles White will always go together
RIP #12 Charles White.
Pride of San Fernando High Tigers! The Most Accomplished Running Back in USC History. I hope you found your everlasting resting place in The Presence in The Lord Jesus Christ
Marcus Allen was his fullback rip
R.I.P. Charlie.
R.I.P. to the two time Rose Bowl MVP in 1978 and 1979 and the 1979 Heisman Trophy winner Charles White! Still USC's all time leading rusher! A 9 year NFL player as well. One of the greatest college football players of all time!
'79 and '80 Rose Bowls
And to think at one time Marcus Allen who was a future NFL HOFer and Super Bowl winner was blocking for him in this game is mind blowing.
RIP Charles White. I was honored to have you in my graduating class at USC. Not the largest or the fastest guy on the field, but easily the toughest. Your Heisman was well earned.
Actually my favorite college running back of all-times. Blazing speed Actually, great moves
RIP Charles. I have very happy memories of watching you play for the Trojans and Rams. "Fight On" in heaven!!
