Conditions were good today but I didn't have the time to drive around and find the best spot so I hit the go-to. Last time I surfed this place I got thoroughly defeated, ending with a cut up foot and on the way in got that same foot full of urchins spikes. yes, really felt those cutty/carves. Almost a self filmed 'Lennox Rocks' episode. Only surfed that place once or twice before; the rock-in is equally sketch.
Oh yeah I nearly stuffed that jump. I jumped straight into a rock. Luckily the water filled back in before I landed.

Im a software engineer and I work from home. I also have a legend of a wife who makes sure I can get out there a couple mornings a week with 3 kids.

Is your water ever warm enough for not wetsuit? Love the vids.
Yep, it gets warm summer through to most of autumn but I wear a steamer the whole way through. I mostly surf early in the morning and I’d rather be too warm than too cold. I hate getting stiff and cold when the waves are fun.

How’s the water temperature down there?!?! Sydney is around 15 degrees at the moment - feels like the coldest it’s been in years. Contemplating buying a 4/3 🥶
@@ryanlidgard520 yeah it’s cold. Probably 15 too. The air is painful. Yesterday we had sleet on the beach, which I’ve never seen before. I’m all about 4/3s. I surf mostly before sunrise so anything that makes it easier to get in the water is worth it.

Ripping as always, Mo! Any tips for staying over your board on airs, especially rotations?
I’m not the best person to answer because I struggle with that too but I’ve found two things help me. 1. Frontside grabs. The act of moving your hand to your rail helps to centre your weight and keep your weight lower. 2. Aim for the flats. By moving the same direction as the wave you tend to spin flatter and are usually in a position to land regardless of how far you get round on your spin. It also helps you to spin faster. Aiming for the flats is especially important for lip side spins, which is what I’ve been struggling with most recently. It’s scary but you rarely make it to the flats anyway.

One of those spots where you constantly see crazy ones but always end up getting destroyed or pulling back haha. Never made a good one there
Yeah I never figured it out. It definitely beat me. I think I know what you need to do but it’s hard to stomach doing it. I I think you need to swing in behind it so you can go fast but not outrun it. I’ll have to try it next time.

Yeah it’s a pretty psycho wave. I definitely felt uncomfortable out there. I need to put in a few more reps to get comfortable.
