    None of this will tell you where the bullet will actually impact the target. That is what you use to “zero” your scope. All you’re doing is bore sighting. This will get you in the ballpark but it won’t be zeroed.

    I think Glocks are a great first gun, either a G17 or 19. Recoil is manageable for most and they are a simple to understand platform for beginners. Later on, different G models can be added to fill different needs. I grew up shooting 1911s my father and his brothers brought back from WWll. I own H&K, Sigs, Hi-Power etc. but when I first ventured into new calibers it was with Glocks.

  • @toddberge754
    @toddberge754 12 дней назад

    The idea behind the 40s&w was to have a pistol with the capacity of a 9mm and the stopping power of a 45acp. But in the end what you have is a pistol with the recoil of a 45acp and the stopping power of the 9mm

  • @ShootingRangeReview
    @ShootingRangeReview 16 дней назад

    I love the Glock 45, however, I definitely don't recommend it as a first "do it all" gun. People love Glocks for their customizability, i was told its the Honda of the gun community. I always recommend a Canik, any of them. Good trigger (So people know what a quality trigger feels like), reliable, and customizable.

    • @SJRangeRat
      @SJRangeRat 16 дней назад

      Thanks for commenting. I’m always tempted to buy a Canik. I honestly think the triggers are too good. I like a little play in a trigger, but the Caniks I’ve dry fired have such minimal travel between the reset and firing that I don’t know if I could get use to it. 🤣

      What’s up!? YES. Even with the acoustic paneling that they thankfully have, it can be loud, depending on what someone is shooting. I was there yesterday and someone started shooting a Desert Eagle two lanes over. THAT was a bit jarring when it started. Thankfully, I was doubled up on my hearing. 👍🏼

    Question So those soft carry cases with accessibility to locks isn’t a good idea?

    • @SJRangeRat
      @SJRangeRat Месяц назад

      I’m not a lawyer or in law enforcement, so take what I say into consideration. It’s my understanding that if things are locked up and separated in the trunk of your vehicle or as far away from the driver as possible then you’re good. Hard or soft case shouldn’t matter, IMO. It’s all about whether or not things are accessible. The further away something is and the more steps someone has to perform to arm themselves, the less of an argument can be made that they were a threat. Conceal carry has its own rules with transporting a firearm.

    I always just setup at 30 yards and shoot three rounds. If I’m on paper then I can dial it in. Pretty much works every time. At this close range I shoot either 3 to 5 inches above center target. I’m done. Sighting your rifle made easy.

    Thats exactly how I started. Its not perfectly comfortable but you can make it manageable. Just keep wearing it around the house and make sure its loaded, you have to include the weight of the ammo. Pick up your belt line as you sit to bring the grip up and over your belly, that helps me, if not its just gonna press and cause pain.

    Keep the target at 3 to 5 yards. Try adjusting your grip to that gun. Dont try to grip it or hold it the same way as your CZ. Grab the gun and just shoot. Dont worry about accuracy, just shoot until the grip feels right. Find the right spot on your trigger finger until you feel like your improving.. I shot the glock 43 for the first time yesterday. Way different than my Macro but I managed a 3" at 5 yards, not perfect but good enough.

  • @stephenoshea1166

    Thanks for the insight there, to be fair though, the closer you make scope adjustments, the more margin for error there is at extended range. If you were to place a bright 4" circle on a wall 25 /30 yds away outside and bore sight it that way, i bet you'll be closer with your first shot at 100. Works well for me, only thing i do on the bech is level the scope with a plumb line drawn on the wall which i align the vertical part of my reticle with, once rifle is sat level with a bubble on the action. Just did my 17hmr the other day with a digital scope, bore sighted at 27yd and froze thd screen, adjusted reticle then first shot 1 1/4" off the bull at 100.

Under loading, the barrel flexes and odds are the harmonics are such that the bullet is leaving the barrel at a consistent but an ever so slight deflection relative to the relaxed barrel state. You might not even hit paper at 100yds. Always check zero with live fire. I've had rifles boresighted before that couldn't hit a man at 50yds.
