The death of sacrificial animals happened at the altar on the daily services. These animals acts as substitutes, dying in the place of the sinners. These sacrifices represents Jesus dying in our place. The scapegoat did not die in our place.

@@JamieElison psalms 77 states “thy way is in the sanctuary.” So the entire way of God, is found in the sanctuary. It is a type of the antitype. It reveals how sin was forgiven by the blood of the lamb, how the high priest atoned for the people, and how sin will be cleansed from the sanctuary. Anyitypically pointing to Christ our lamb, Christ our high priest, and the final cleansing of sin for all time. Historically, going back thousands of years, it was common knowledge that the scapegoat is Satan.

My issue is not Daniel 8:14. The Day of atonement is a the day when the Sanctuary is cleansed from all the uncleanliness of Israel’s sins. No hands were placed upon the head of the first goat. That means no sin was transferred the blood of the first goat was not ladened with sin, it did not contain sin, it was not contaminated with sin. This uncontaminated blood was used to cleanse the sanctuary according to Leviticus 16:19. This only happens in the Day of Atonement.

Leviticus 4 is also for sins KNOWN (Lev 4:14, 23, 28). Base on Leviticus 16:21, laying on of hands represents transfer of sins.

@@JamieElison in the daily services, sins were symbolically transferred to the victims (bull, lamb, goat,..etc) by the laying on of hands (Lev 1, 3, 4,…etc). Animals were killed at the altar of sacrifice. The altar of sacrifice is the place of death (foreshadowing Calvary). The scapegoat did not die at the altar. It died outside the camp of Israel.

When Paul used the phrase “circumcision of the heart” he was quoting from OT Scripture. This concept is found Deuteronomy 10:16; 30:6. These words were announced not only to the Jews but to the mixed multitude that came out of Egypt as well (Exodus 12:8). Paul mentions the same idea of Gentiles and Jews being children of Abraham in Galatians 3:27-29 if they belong to Christ.
