Spirit Ivy Can Be Everywhere - Just Fly High, and Don't Die | Ivy Gameplay and Commentary | Deadlock
Hey guys,
Ivy is still one of my favorite characters in the game. I've mostly played Ivy, in Deadlock, as a support-like healer up until this point, and I finally decided to try out the spirit build that the majority of players run. Both are good and worth using, but in my opinion, this build is much easier. You just fly around, spam one, and win games. Having two ultimates (thanks to refresher) really makes this build pop-off in the mid-late game because you are constantly applying pressure around the map, by fixing waves, and then rotating to team fights where you don't allow the enemies to escape by placing slows everywhere or knocking up and silencing them with your ult bomb just to la...

Hey all, I started playing Dynamo. At this point, I'm planning on maining Ivy, Mo and Krill, and Dynamo while I play Deadlock. Shouldn't Ivy and dynamo have great sustain if you stand on dynamos heal and link to him because he heals you, which stacks the heal back onto himself since healing gets duplicated onto linked allies?
Yeah, their sustain is great in lane. They both just lack damage compared to a lot of other characters until you get a few items and levels. Doing that feels very situational imo. It’ll give dynamo 40-50 more health from his heal (quick maths) because it’s only a 30% replication. But Ivy is losing out on having the fire rate and bullet lifesteal mid-fight since it’s a fairly long cooldown.
i find the “support” style of gameplay much more fun , this includes hero’s like dynamo , ivy , kelvin , etc . i feel like there’s a higher ceiling
I enjoy both 🙂
Got 50k healing in one game on Kelvin last week. It was fun.
Nice! The highest I hit was around that too with McGinnis :)
I might try Ivy now, I liked how chill it seemed as you delivered straight up nukes from the skybox lmao
Haha- that’s the fun part of the build! You turn into a bomber haha
Excellent video! I am a relatively new player and have chosen Dynamo as one of my main characters, I wanted to ask a question. Why do almost all builds prefer warp stone instead of majestic leap? The downside to the jump is the 5 second cooldown when taking damage, but it's MUCH more mobile and you can jump into a fight from a huge distance and give a great ultimate. In my opinion, the warp stone has too little range, it feels almost like dash jump.
Thank you! I think that both items are good. I prefer warp stone because it's on a shorter cooldown, and after using it you're also gaining bullet resistance for a short time. The other plus to warp stone is that you can use it mid-combat, whereas if you take any damage, you can no longer use Majestic. Majestic Leap is a much further range, and if you prefer it, I'd say to go for it :) I tend to build both warp stone and phantom strike in most games though, so I have a short and long-range mobility tool. That lets me phantom strike in for the ult, and if the team doesn't follow up, then I have warp stone to get out.
@@Deltsong Ohh I never tried phantom strike in this game)) I'll check it soon. Thanks for responding 😁
@@malikkasumov7593 good luck! :)
Although I haven't played the entire cast yet, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up being an MK main since I love them so much. I actually like building fleetfoot early and not getting warpstone so that during mid game I can max level burrow and rotate around the map at the speed of light. My first 6k item is usually phantom strike so that I have that teleport engage similar to warpstone but I get a second disarm so I can just tell a gun character no more gun. I also build spirit lifesteal more than barrier so that I can have a ton of sustained tankiness off of all my abilities, but I think enchanters barrier + veil walker works well too. I used to run echo chard and surge of power on burrow for a lightspeed double dig build, but then I realized the spin out of burrow doesn't actually do that much damage even with escalating. So instead I play mostly around disarms and getting guaranteed kills with combo. If you alch fire and combo someone inside of it your whole team gets amped damage on them, so you can nuke their carry (also you can throw alch fire and use actives like phantom strike and magic carpet while burrowing).
I’ll try it fleetfoot sometime :) That usually feels like an item that I want on gun builds more than tanky initiators, but I could’ve been thinking about the item the wrong way!
@@Deltsong the only issue is you lose vertical movement, but MK actually has a super underrated gun. I've thought about building a gun/melee MK since most of your useful spirit damage comes from scorn and torment pulse, and you don't get a ton of value out of burrow damage later in the game. Bullet resist shredder could go hard with torment, scorn, and alch fire
@@Wulfrim I could definitely see a close quarters and/or pristine emblem build with MK, so that would make sense with that. The only thing is it feels like an anti-synergy. Because when you’re burrowed/ult-ing which is a decent amount throughout the course of a game within fights, you’re not actually using those items. I could definitely be wrong though. It just feels weird to build him like that in my mind haha
@@Deltsong I tried it and you're right, it makes no sense lol. Its especially bad because without more spirit items scorn doesn't heal as much
@@Wulfrim I’ve definitely seen people build that and do well, but idk some people may like it 😬
I like your charisma in this video, you have a nice speech and are funny in not annoying way!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it :)
I recommend trying linepros build, or my version with the word "updated" at the end of it. Im top 0.7% and top 200 on dynamo, so you can take my word that its a good build.
I was using linepro and car battery’s builds and they weren’t doing the best for me… I’ll see if I can find yours and try it out this 🙂
@@Deltsong linepros is more of a support/ult style build, my version of his build only has some minor tweaks but its really good. You get a lot of value from cc, cancelling ultimates, rescue beams and hitting fat ults. You put reach, duration and cooldown all into the ultimate and you try to follow up on what your team is doing, while fitting in farm where you can.
I really like support-style builds, so I’ll give it a try again sometime. I just really wasn’t finding the most value in it before. I think that’s mostly because Dynamo’s ult feels like a coin-flip as to whether or not teammates take advantage of it or not… Sometimes it feels amazing, other times, I hit five people and my teammates just walk away 😅 That’s sort of why I made this, so I could be strong/do my own thing earlier on in the game, and then “hopefully” every follows up on a good ult over boss, or in base, that ends up winning the game.
@@Deltsong i find you really just have to use your mic and tell people like 2 or 3 times that you're about to black hole, and then yell "GOT EM GOT EM GOT EM" when you pop the ult, that seems to help 😂 dynamo is not very good if you don't use your mic a lot. I tend to find myself calling a lot of shots as well, since as a support style, you tend to sit a bit further back some of the time (especially if you have no cooldowns), so you might call out low health enemies, or when to retreat because you know its a losing fight, for example.
Fair haha
I love building to reliably get banger ults, I'm a fan of majestic leap tho rather than warp or phantom strike (though I definitely see the value). But I do feel like superior cooldown on 4 is an absolute must, because being able to be the teams go button more often is very op, the percentage cd reduction is huge on a cd as phat as dynamo ult.
Majestic leap is definitely good too! I tried that some a little after this, but personally like phantom better… It’s probably just preference though 😅 My only problem with sup cooldown on the ult is that dynamos it’s so team reliant… In one game every ult leads to kills, and in the next there’s no follow up. So I don’t really want to build heavily for it until the late game when people are grouped up more anyway, and at that point one ult “should” just win the game. 😬
I too like to pick up “extra herlth” XD good stuff
😅😂 somehow my brain missed that when I was reviewing it
@@Deltsong please leave it I got a really good chuckle. Good video btw, well thought out!
I think melee charge and/or veil walker would go really hard in this build. Melee charge just so you can get easy reloads, but veil walker gives you a lot of weapon damage, as well as the ability to just completely refill your barriers every 12 seconds which synergizes well with combat barrier and later divine kevlar. It also helps you rotate faster with the invis move speed, so it's kind of like a cheaper (better?) shadow weave that gives you full barrier.
I’ve actually been thinking about veil walker recently, but I haven’t tried it yet! Maybe I’ll test it out soon 🙂
so fun and so strong ! dynamo is my first choice when queuing EVERYTIME . once he gets his ult , he is a threat
Yessir!!
Appreciate the commentary. Learning what to do when is tough
I’m glad it helps! This game definitely has a lot of info that I’m still learning too 😅
Would you say your support build is obsolete with the recent patch and this one here is more viable?
No, I like the support build more, personally. This one’s just fun to try sometimes too, and probably depends on personal preference because they play completely differently haha
I cant find this build in the menu. Are you sure its public?
Yes, I just looked again to be sure! Three should come up if you type in “Detsong” into the search bar. This one is “Deltsong McGinnis support” and the one I’ve been using more recently is “Deltsong McGinnis Turret Support.” The second one is less streamlined, but I like the layout better and it gives a few more options :)
Alright, I'll check again
i have been LOVING dynamo recently, . my duo runs haze and i dont know if theres a BETTER ult combo in the game . cant wait to try out this build! great vid
Thank you! He’s definitely a lot of fun and someone I’m going to keep playing :) My friend also runs Haze half of the time, which is why I was decided to try him out haha
Lash dynamo is a good combo too
High MMR Mo & Krill main here, I couldn't get 5 minutes into the video and have watched the rest of it posthumously, your takes were that bad. Nothing of what you're doing makes sense statistically or practically? I seriously doubt you've played more than 20 games as Mo & Krill. I feel bad for anyone that watches this video and takes your tips onboard. Please play this character more before you make guides for them, unless they're on the enemy team, sincerely.
I’m also “high mmr” if you’re going by the tracker (which is the only way to “kind of” gauge that, but also doesn’t appear to be very accurate). I’m glad you have different takes though. That’s part of what makes games like this good, imo. Different builds and play styles should work better or equally for each person. If people played every character the same exact way then it wouldn’t be a fun game.
Bro if you're judging by that (in which ranked is out and even before then you're not even 2k mystic (I did search you after you responded)) that's terrible optimisation, like clearly, I cannot believe this video was even put out without proper testing if you're going to make a guide. I am genuinely impressed though that you got there with this play style, like honestly it's very impressive
I was 2050 two days ago. And I’ve been losing MMR even in games that I’m winning and doing well. Which is why I said that it doesn’t seem like an accurate indicator. It also doesn’t show or change after every game. I’ve also probably played about 50-60 games total because I just downloaded the game 3 weeks ago? So I’m sure that there’s still more to learn, and I’m never against constructive criticism when it comes to how I’m playing. If you have any of that, then I’m fully open to it. Also, I’m genuinely not trying to argue. Having different preferences and playstyles in videos (especially mobas) as I said before seems very normal. You can watch multiple high ranking (masters+) Zoe’s/Shaco’s/etc in League who are all getting good results while preferring different items. Some focus more on split-pushing, some are more gank oriented, and if it’s working for them, that’s great. Imo - the same goes for this game. A lot of people really like spirit ivy, but I tend to play her more with bullet damage/healing to act as a support. Especially since bullet damage gives more healing with her 2. Mo and Krill, I see as a tank/initiator so I build him for his sustain and to pick off people who are out of position. You might see him differently and get success in different ways based off of that.
Hey, What style would you go for? Im having trouble knowing what I should lean into (if I should keep upgrading/buying gun items in mid game for example). Are there any core items you think mo n krill should get? and what should i prioritize? I know the build changes a lot depending on the game, but a general guideline to follow would be great! For me, I like getting two points in ability nr 1 then getting mystic burst, then maxing burrow n buying utility items to prioritize spam ganking. Alternatively if you have a good public build I could check out and figure out on my own! please mr high elo 🙏
Good build
Thanks!
Nice little explanation of the build and combos, I appreciated that
Glad to help :)
This video made me realise I don't have to play aceelerando or the action speed drum song 3 times for it to stack
There has definitely been changes to the class since this guide… But I’m glad I could help in that way! Haha
Good way to ruin a game for new players... Almost seems like the hulk bullying a weak persons first time at the gym... At least u only do it at high roller
It’s important for new players to know, sadly… Because it happens in both norms and high roller. And if you know it’s happening you can maybe get around to rooms without spawns to be safe, or just start doing it instead so you’re at least not the person who’s caught off-guard. I made the video because in the past I had people asking how it worked 🙃
A lot of little things that would make a big impact if fixed up, good content tho
Thank you :) I know I definitely need to work on stuff still. This was probably my 7-8th game as Mo? So I’m definitely still learning new stuff as I go (positioning, etc) 🙂
Early game you need to play closer and be using your 1 almost off cooldown they have you a lot of free space and with Mo you need to take it or they poke you out
Thanks for the tip! :)

Instead of straight gameplay, maybe edit down to length you'd be comfortable doing commentary on. You're commentary is why I'm here so without it i don't have a lot of reason to watch.
That’s fair enough :) This was only my second or third video after starting this game, so I was partially just trying things out and seeing if there were people who didn’t want commentaries, etc.
Nice commentary on the build, and the actions during the game. Looking forward to more content
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)

battery 3500 + refresher 6200 = 8-10 turrets and free midboss XD
Free mid boss or free patron 😅😂
I feel like you are loosing value from not adding atleast 2 cheap damage items to fill up your damage slots. I am sure you can figure out atleast 2 useful ones and it makes no sense to not make use of the inventory space before going for the expensive items.
I could’ve added in two weapon items, but the main focus is to get turrets down fast/support items. So I don’t want to put myself back another 500/1250 (x2) when the build is already expensive enough. With most characters I do usually try to fill all of the slots.. But I’m sure there’s an argument for both sides and it depends on the character/game what you should do.
Good tips, I'll play around with it. I think you should use Echo Shard way more. You're sitting on 1/4 turret charges and not using it. You're wasting potential cooldown that way. I think you should basically always use it ASAP, so you're running double cooldowns on turrets.
Hope it works out for you! I definitely should be using it more. I just started playing Deadlock like two weeks ago, and I’m trying to teach myself to actually use my actives 😅😬
@@Deltsong It's not easy :) I'm very new as well, trying to figure out where to put those turrets during a game.
Thanks mate!
First time seeing you, I hate druid but I want to comment to support you.
Thank you!
Aiming at the sky for her ult was a bug that got fixed in the most recent patch, so it's not a thing anymore. Honestly I typically use her first ult in lane if we can get a kill or two, and then her second ult (or first if you don't have kill pressure) to farm a hard camp.
That makes sense then. Thanks for clearing that up!
deltsong ? Wasen't that a dark and darker bard main

@@Deltsong Loved your content then and stil do now that you're trying a new direction bro. Don't give up on the things you wanna make ! You're super engaging , keep it up chum : )
@@onix9947 thank you! I appreciate that
couple tips: heroic aura is only 3k and out damages boundless spirit on mcginnis. it is a must have and passively increases turret dps by 40%. Also, surge of power on the heal is a must have as it increases its radius and duration more than superior duration and improved reach combined. Lastly, because turrets have poor spirit scaling, escalating exposure is a strong buy on her as its super over-tuned in general and it provides a massive damage bonus.
Surge of power is the only thing not in the build, but I’ll mess around with these too. I didn’t think about heroic affecting the turrets!
A few more tips: 1) Intensifying Magazine is an absolutely insane DPS increase for only 3k. If you aren't in a situation where you need to rush support items, I like to get this as my first post-laning/T3 item. It helps farm, it helps push, it helps ganks against people who won't just stand in your turrets. Even if you're focused entirely on spirit this alone will make your gun formidable for most of the game. 2) For super late game or a more gun/turret hybrid support, Ricochet+Inhibitor is teamfight winning levels of debilitating. Something I overlooked for a long time since I prefer the turret focused builds. 3) Mystic Slow is a 40% fire rate reduction in addition to the movement slow. It's pretty huge for teamfights from either a support perspective OR if you're one of the main DPS on your team, because it helps keep your turrets alive longer (they have 60% spirit res so with a decent health pool they'll only really die to guns). The slow also stacks with Mystic Reverb and Slowing Bullets (which is a decent choice for your last orange once you have Heroic Aura and/or have swapped Basic Mag for Intense Mag). **Edit**: Bonus tip) You can use your first wall shortly after you get to lane to block your creeps so they meet on your side of the bridge. This means the opposing laners have to cross the middle to CS or you can easily deny their souls as they float up behind a solid wall from their perspective. From there you can either focus the flag creep to push with momentum, or freeze the lane right under your guardian stairs.
I talked about intensifying magazine slightly. I usually don’t buy it until I get the turrets rolling though. It’s probably just a preference for when to buy it. I’ve thought about Ricochet/Inhibitor too! I just haven’t tried it too much with McGinnis specifically yet. That seems VERY late game though. I’ve tried out Mystic Slow a bit too. It’s definitely good, but there’s a lot of people who are building spirit power now, which is why I have it down in the situational tab. Thanks for the adding in all these tips!
Cool :j
your wall usage seems really bad/lack intention, with poor understanding of wave control.

Other vidya game haha One of my friends shared a code with me, and I loved the game. So I figured I would start doing YT stuff for this instead :)
@@Deltsong I know, brother. Your Rousing Rhythms still rings in my mind. Ivy do be a bit like Bard tho
😂😂😂 So. Many. Songs. Played. In some ways, Ivy is pretty similar haha
Actually gasped at the end
😂😂
you keep saying AP as if I'm supposed to know what that is as a new player lol
Adventure points - basically just the ranked system :)
@@Deltsong Thanks for the video and the quick response as well! One thing I've been wondering is about spawn locations. I'm trying to learn cave troll and I never seem to spawn anywhere near the module. Am also struggling on rogue in general since most my time has been on fighter.
@@oxykostis3153 darkanddarker.map.spellsandguns.com/map/Crypt-01-N This is a good resource if you want to learn the spawn locations. After a while, you’ll eventually just learn where you are, but this map shows basically where anything is while you’re learning. Just pick what map you want and then unselect everything that you don’t want to see! Or now you can just press M in game to pull up the map and see where you are :) When it comes to rogue… The most viable playstyle (imo) is hand crossbow poke sadly… Once you get enough gear (true phys and dex) you can use the one shot build from stealth build, but without it… Good luck tbh 😅
Thanks for putting this video out. I picked up Ivy in my roster recently because of the AC130 spirit build that got nerfed a few days ago which is still great and FUN btw!! I also added Soul Shredder Bullets to that build and it is really good. ANYWAY, these items and playstyle are tempting so I will definitely try because this I overlooked how fun this character is and I expect for the team support strength to be really confusing for enemies in pubs. I was going to ask you to upload one of your games so I can see it in action and you already have! Thank you, liked and subbed.
Thank you, I appreciate it :) The spirit build is a ton of fun! I’ve just been really enjoying playing support and saving people with heals/rescue beam. And Ivy really does great for just moving people around the map, or getting where you need to be at the same time. I hope the games go well for you 🙂
As a support and also Kelvin main, I find the supportive application of the ice path has little to do with the speed-up it gives team mates (I've never even seen my team use them,) but rather the speed that it gives Kelvin himself. Ice path allows for arguably the fastest roaming in the game, and given that support characters are most useful in teamfights, that mobility means there's rarely a fight on the map I can't force my way into. p.s. ice path -> rescue beam for an easy save.
I agree that it’s great for roaming! I haven’t really had a use-case for it in a fight, and saw some tournament teams using it for team mobility, but I’m sure that’s probably not going to be the “most” useful as a solo que! I personally haven’t played Kelvin too much because I don’t like his kit as much, so thanks for putting in these tips! Rescue beam does seem interesting with ice path, so thanks for adding these tips in too! :)
This doesnt explain cave troll at all... Worst guide ive ever seen, you don't even include his main attack. Dog shit video DOWVOTED
If I could say to stand x meter away and then go in I would… But there’s no way to really explain that, other than just going in for trial and error, sadly 🙃
@@Deltsong the left to right attack you dont show how to dodge it
@OVOChatgpt if you stay far enough away between your attacks he doesn’t do it. You can crouch duck under if it happens though :) You don’t want him to do that attack though because it slows down your DPS to him if you’re dodging more. So just wait until his back foot starts to move forward after his side swing, and he won’t combo into it
@@Deltsong you realize your guide is shit if the majority of players see this attack and you don;t because you've masterd his movements yet you dont even include it in your video. Dog shit tutorial buddy down vote. how you leave out his main attack is actually retarded
@@Deltsong I actually finally see what you were saying.... still this should be in the video everyone is asking about it
Hey tank support main here! always remember u can release the rescue beam early to fling them past u! This is really good for peeling especially if ur like me and u tend to play more tank support, bc then u can put urself between ur carry and the enemy and soak up the blows and disrupt them. On viscous i always build tank items and debuff weapon items with rescue beam. I also tend to build melee as it scales with ur puddle punch as well as giving u a really good burst combo with ur ball if u have extended duration. Also if u stand on top of the cube while rescue beaming it will elevator u upwards. The easiest way to do this is to cube someone run up and vault the cube. Stand center mass then rescue beam. This is useful if u need to save someone, But also need help ur self. and dont have echo shard of refresher. It can also be used to get u and ur ally to the high ground. (BE VERY CARFUL NOT TO HIT THE SKYBOX U WILL BE STUCK) Last but certainly not least the ball melee combo. As i mentioned if u have extended duration this gives u just enough time to get a guranteed melee. So if ur snowballing a fight and hit someone with a ball but dont think ull be able to hit again as they have dashes and are near safety. cancel immediately after the hit and get a guaranteed melee off. The timing is tight for the parry window. But guaranteed if done right.
Thanks for adding these tips in! I actually didn’t know the interaction of jumping onto the cube and using rescue beam, which definitely seems like it could be useful sometimes. I’m gonna need to try that out sometime! :)
Great vid! For the section, where you talk about characters and explain their basic abilities you can pre-record gameplay and then voice over it. This will make it much easier to record, though will make the process a bit longer. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! :)
this video has failed to mention the rotten ice underneath where the wendigo is standing in death pit module!!! after killing the wendigo i went to loot the chest on the lower level and the ice broke and killed me. beware!!!!
I didn’t talk about that because I didn’t go down there. My bad 😅😅
Small disclaimer: I just started playing the game last week, so I’m sure I made mistakes throughout this match too… But the amount of kills and damage I got is something that I haven’t seen even close to so far while playing, which is mostly why I wanted to share this match. What’s the highest amount of kills and/or damage you’ve gotten or seen on your team? That would be cool to hear :)
