Crotal Cordless Electric Air Pump Review (Is it for you?)
Is this a practical pump if you're really into cycling?
Have you seen ads for these little electric pumps on your social media? I spotted this on Facebook and contacted Crotal to see if I could review one. They sent me a unit and I checked it out.

Rock Bros Bell Thingy Update Review short

I reviewed this bell thingy a couple of years back in a quick style review. I didn't really recommend it, or give it a thumbs down, I just showed you what it can do. I used it sparingly over the last 18 months or so, but used it a lot on the weekend when my regular bell malfunctioned. Here, in less than 90 seconds, I tell you what I think of this thing. Here's the original video if you want to ...
Oops! I Made A Mistake - Rock Bros Bar Tape Review

My bike was looking a little shabby, so to spruce it up I bought some new bar tape. There are thousands of different types out there, but I liked the look of the Rock Bros tape, so I gave it a try. I had a few issues with the tape... one was self inflicted. I explain that here, along with how it went putting it on my bike and whether I like the product. #RockBros #bartape #cycling
I Think E-Bikes Are A Problem
Просмотров 7 тыс.9 месяцев назад
This is a video 2 years in the making, with one theme... e-bikes. They are everywhere folks and I don't think it's good for the cycling industry, which is suffering right now. These things are big, they are fast, they are taking up more space on trails and pathways and roads... and they're increasingly being ridden by people who don't know what they are doing. They also don't encourage cycling....

    The popularity of Ebikes will mean more bike trails are created. I like that. I've seen a lot of old people on E-bikes. They wouldn't ride if it weren't for E-bikes. I see a great possibility of E-Bikes displacing cars if the infrastructure is there. Almost no greenhouse gases. I guess they are a good thing.

    E BIKES are the only thing that has kept the cycling industry alive. Pricing aside people have lost interest in activities like cycling/motorcycles/hiking etc etc. Ebikes need more maintenance like tyres wear out quicker and complete drivetrain replacement more often. So how is that bad for shops. ? I own and ride 1 ebike / 1 downhill bike and 1 hardcore steel hardtail. As long as people are out riding i dont give a f**k what they are riding. Maybe you are becoming more tribal like Harley v Japan ?

    I bought the similar looking HW706 model. Synch via Bluetooth to phone app and via ANT+ to my XOSS head unit was all fine. Unfortunately the HR values, whilst they matched between the two displays, were just not realistic. Repeated uphill efforts to establish a max HR never got me above 125 bpm (should be 150-160 for my age) - and yet later cruising along at easy pace on the flat it was displaying between 165-170bpm. Returned for refund, and trying a chest strap next.

    Your accident wasn't because of an ebike, it was because of an ignorant rider, they just happened to be riding an ebike. I've ridden normal bikes and I now have an emtb and riders doing strange things in front of you isn't anything new, what is new is the amount of people, and more people means more opportunities for accidents.

    PS- If you enjoy cycling like I do and rode bikes all your life and get ten to 15 years older with knee problems, I think you might change your mind. Whoever rode out in front of you was careless and could have been on any bike and caused you to crash. Everyone needs to learn bike safety and I am only advocating regular peddle assisted bikes, Not e-motorcycles.

  • @brucekempf4648
    @brucekempf4648 Месяц назад

    I am 65 years old and love bike riding. I have knee and back issues that prevent me from going up hills on a regular bike. I brought my wife and I e-bikes that are essentially 10 speed bikes with a small built in motor. You wound not know it was an e-bike unless you looked very closely. It has regular bike tires and seat. I enjoy the peddle assist for hills. My e-bike only goes 15 mph top speed and I ride all the time on the same trails as regular biles. Never had a problem. I have seen those huge fat tire bikes that have like 1000 watt motors that can probable do 60MPH. I would totally agree that those pose a danger to cyclists but because many e-bikes are just peddle assisted regular biles, I hope you don't include someone like me as a problem.

  • @jasonbellows7
    @jasonbellows7 Месяц назад

    People will buy into e-bikes as a fad and then cycling will eventually make a come back as something nostalgic. I prefer the struggle of cycling. More rewarding physically and mentally. I think if people who can physically ride a bicycle, should! E-bikes I also feel take away the purity of riding outside and being in nature. I go out doors to get away from technology. The more we become come dependent on technology the farther we get away from valuable physical and mental skill sets. I am not anti technology. Just need a balance of the two! Look at what happened in the terminator movies 😂

    I live in Miami and ride a class 1 e-bike. My e-bike is class one but it is "tuned" for assist up to 28MPH. I am 68 years old and many x when riding around Miami Beach, super fit young people on analog road bikes blow my doors off and almost force me off the road. These guys have there heads down, with assist I can go 25-28 and they can go by me like I am standing still. They are not even looking. Your rant is MISPLACED. It is not the bike it is the driver, it is the operator.

    11:11 Well said Sir ! I fight as a Professional MMA. I have one day off and I do MTBiking for condtioning and fun. I love cycling. I have XC , Enduro , Downhill and a BMX bikes. I have to tell you this now. I was climbing with my Enduro bike in Germany - Winterberg. Person saw me climbing because I was climbing slower than usual according to him. Because he looked at my bike and said ''oh you have no motor on it ?'' said in German. Because almost nobody climbs nowadays and even if they do it they do it with E-Bike. No way in hell they climb a hill with a normal MTB. Now I dont mind what people think because I know I want to get that heartbeat and earn that hill as I do it weekly and enjoy it. What I can not stand is that there are so many entitled people on E-MTBs. They are overweight. They come to bike parks they eat full big Sandwich and right after they turn their bike on and sit on lift just like that. No warming up or setting the bike up NOTHING. Lift take them all the way up and they go down with batteries on. No effort , nothing. And than somewhere around lunch time they sit and have a full lunch and they go back to on trail again. This time they use reserve battery because the first one got empty carrying all that weight. This is what I call fast-food mentality. Life is on easy mode for them.

    I ride an expensive pedalec. I stopped riding my road bike because groups of twenty road-bike riders ride in a bunch and get car drivers pissed off at drop-bar bicycles. The car drivers won't take on the group though, most will wait until they see a single cyclist and throuw food/drinks/abuse at the lone rider (or worse) . I no longer bother watching Tour de France or any other professional racing because drop bar bikes are the locusts of the road (to use your words). Here in Australia our pedalecs our limited to the ridiculously low 25km/h. I think the bikes you are talking about have been modified. At least they have pedals to get some exercise tho... Electric scooters have higher speed and I've never seen anyone riding with protective gear and witbout motor power. I think what happens with bikes is what happens... Your and my opinions are not going to change the outcome but we may certainly end up looking like grandpa Simpson shaking his fist at a cloud. Powered bicycles shouldn't be using shared paths anyway... How is that even a thing? Start taking video everywhere you ride... It's the only way to prove anything and it sounds like you might be needing proof sooner rather than later.

    If someone drive stupidly with electric car, should you blame the vehicle or the driver? Can a person ride a regular bike stop in the middle of road in front of someone? If so, are we blaming the person riding a bicycle? We should be educating ppl especially the new riders instead of complaining about what type of bike they are using.

    Here's how to solve the glasses fogging problem: Go to any major car accessories store, and ask for "Rain-x water repellent" and or "Rainsx anti-fog"; the Rain-x is for the outside and the Anti-fog is for the inside of the glasses. Though, if you can only find Rain-x, it will work on both sides; not sure about the Anti-fog. Cheers!

    I bought an Abus Stormchaser from a reputable online store in my country for about one hundred dollars. I returned it as it was low quality compared to my previous helmets which by the way were cheaper but with considerably better quality (BBB Eagle and Met Veleno). The word "fake" came into my mind at that time but as I watched this video I saw the real helmet also looks cheap and low quality especially on the inside and the retention system. This brand of helmets is rubbish in my opinion.

    Yep--those types of e-bikes, equipped with a throttle and not strictly pedal-assist, are really nothing more the electric motorcycles. They remind me of the mopeds of the 1970's gas crisis. They had pedals to skirt under the law as "bicycles," but of course they were way too heavy for any realistic pedalling--and no one did pedal those, except perhaps during startup. I too, see most of those type e-bikes ridden by younger folks that should have no need for them; and exhibit they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I've been nearly run down by one on the sidewalk in front of my house while simply checking my mailbox. I barely evaded a head-on crash with one coming full blast around a blind curve on a Wildlife Refuge trail that did not allow motorized vehicles. And don't get me started on all the idiots on those electric motorcycle rentals riding the "no motorized vehicle" trails at the beach. Most of the older or physically challenged riders I see (who almost to a person were formerly cyclists) ride pedal-assist e-bikes only.

      My Klein Quantum is getting a set in the next few weeks. What limits me is the width of the rim, not the tire as there is a flare out for the tire giving 33mm, but only 30mm where the rim is. So I was not willing to risk buying 28mm wide rims. My 25 and 28mm tires get pulled in to 23 and 25mm, but will be wider with wider rims. My 90's rims are 18mm wide

    I saw your video when you first purchased your Haluzak recumbent. Too bad that company went out of business, they are great bikes. By now you have realised some of the advantages of 2 wheeled recumbents (I am not a fan of Trikes) and dismissed some of the myths ie "they are slow on hills (wheelbase length and gearing are key factors) mostly coming from the Diamond frame bike world!. Your video is one of the best I have seen as you demonstrated for folks the aspects of sharp turns and hill climbing. Downhills on an Under-seat Steering recumbent is unmatched, a luge ride! Comfort is king. For years I have toured coast to coast in Canada and the USA. Got into recumbents back in the mid nineties and would not think of a "normal bike" again. The freedom of NOT wearing bike shorts is enough to keep me content with the few disadvantages a recumbent has. The only ones I can think of is having to push a USS up a hill, not having a 😁😁handlebar in handy position. I have both OSS and USS steering recumbents,, two of which I self built and prefer the USS. Nothing between you and the road but your feet and makes for easy escape with the lack of handlebars to deal with. The other might be considered a disadvantage if you are not into conversing with people, as people are attracted to you when you ride it. I don't do mountain biking. I prefer touring. As you stated in a couple of your videos, Ebikes are on the rise and they focus ads on speed and power and have strayed from looking like a bike to motorbikes. Yes I would like to see them regulated because the industry promotes them as bicycles thus it has gotten out of hand. If you can pedal a 100 lb Ebike without turning on the motor for 20 or 30 k then maybe you might just call it a bicycle, would be a bench mark qualifier! I whole heartedly agree with your dismay on that subject. Thank you for the video's of your channel, most helpful. Would like to bike tour Calgary someday. Happy trails Mike
