I have textured to not textured, ( my mom hard afro Dominican hair and my dad soft Puertorican. I'm in the middle...and the twist and rip and it worked and they matured so quickly that people thought I had crocheted them. I did two twists and a rip. Then palm rolled all the time.

what kind of hair do you use? And where do you get it from?

I don't fit the stereotype and have dreads. I don't smoke, drink or attend festivals nor do I have any desire to do these things. I don't desire to have a van/jeep or live the life style. In fact I plan to live the country way and be a homesteader, riding bikes and all that awesome stuff. I know people that fit the stereotype and even I have lived that way of life when I didn't have dreads and it's a no from me nowadays.

How do you wash new dreads without undoing them every time?

Would dreds be discouraged on someone who has scalp eczema and needs to wash multiple times a week? And how well does a tender scalp handle dreds long term? I love doing rope braids but the crown of my head feels absolutely bruised within 3 days and my hair wont stay in them, even if I use products and dont wash my hair. :(

What if your super active? I work out twice a day and sweat a lot, so I take at least two showers a day.

Hi again Liz! I watch and rewatch your past videos and just thought I'd comment again. I'm just going into my 18th month of having my dreads. Got them done at the local beauty college cause no one does them in the area I live. And by watching your channel I have taught myself how to maintain my own. I don't dye mine but I did recently purchase some extensions and I crocheted them into the ends of my locks. Didn't turn out too bad. I'm 66 and living my journey now. For many months I felt very intimidated about doing my own maintenance but by watching and rewatching your videos and just breathing😂 I've gotten the hang of it and am pretty much content with the process. I'm very grateful that I found your channel and I appreciate the suggestions you've made to me in comments in the past. Hope you will have an update video on your tree house studio soon. Can't wait!

Hi so I have a little experience with hair ( textured almost Afro ) and now my son ( white with straight hair) wants this. I’m thinking of the crochet hook way. I think I understand it but do you have a slower or closer up way you’re doing that? Is it effectively tying/ wrapping a few stands round and through the main part of the hair?

I got my locs in October 2019 I had started locs on my son, who is now 15 1/2 when he was about 2 with the #bees_wax (cost about $0.50 from the beauty supply store) & recently, my only daughter says when she is in college, she will have started her loc journey she 14 years old, right now ✌️

I so appreciate this story. I am new to the spirt noodle journey. Right now I am 5 weeks into my natural locks. Next week I go for my first maintenance with my fantastic lock artist! 8 years I’ve been waiting for a skilled artist to cross my way and she’s been in my hometown for a couple years now. When i realised my dreads were too long for the low bun 😭 we improvised and still a massive improvement on my messy bun. Could never quite recreate the 'bun has started unravelling and looks really cool' look 😅 this one comes close! Thanks so much for your content x

I live in a hot and humid environment and my scalp gets really itchy every 4-5 days. I try to last a week between washes but it gets too itchy. Essential oils tend to make my scalp even itchier. I use baking soda paste rinse it out then use diluted apple cider vinegar then rinse that out. I try to use Aragon oil and aloe but my scalp still gets so itchy. Any advice?

The first start is to stop calling, them dreadlocks the locks. If you knew where the origin of dreadlocks came from, you wouldn't say it I'm gonna take it that you don't know. But it's not good
