WHAT DID GOD NEED WITH A STARSHIP: LIVE AT GALAXYCON SAN JOSE
Ralph hailed from Mason City, Iowa. Also the hometown of composer Meredith Willson who write The Music Man. Thirty miles from where my Mom grew up.
What a gift! Anytime Ralph is interviewed, or writes a piece about his work, I feel so lucky to have access to it. His explanations of WHY and HOW things were done are so satisfying to hear, after years of pondering. He remembers everything, and is always so gracious about pointing out Jerry Finnerman's genius as a cinematographer. Ralph is the best example of what classic television was, at its pinnacle. "Metamorphosis" is Star Trek's finest, and if you want to see a masterclass in how to direct episodic television, watch The Waltons episode "The Pony Cart". He is a treasure.
Sandy you overwhelm me.
Ralph is a living legend
This is so good
Hi. This was a great interview. But, unfortunately, from the 47:34 mark, the file seems to be corrupted. It keeps skipping forward and missing bits out of the interview. I listened on the Pocketcasts app and it occurred on there. So, I tried listening on RUclips and the same thing happened!!!😢
I am seeing that as well.
Thank you gentlemen ✨
"We are encouraged by each of the showrunners and the producing directors to as RDM calls it 'shoot the thrill' encouraged to be cinematic." No more following the Puck.
Ended up here because I like Hex Girls 😐
Oh, Bob is simply endlessly charming -- he's such a pillar of American genre filmmaking.
The most notable "seven" in Star Trek was the magnificent seven that was the original series cast: 1. Kirk 2. Spock 3. McCoy 4. Scotty 5. Sulu 6. Chekov 7. Uhura OK some would argue that Chapel & Rand belongs in there somewhere, too, but the other seven were in far more episodes.
The author of the Serenity Prayer is the great 20th century Christian theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, who Ande says was an influence on both Gene Coon and Martin Luther King Jr. I assume that hie name is accurately given in her book.
So great - I was particularly moved to hear the wonderful things you had to say about director Ralph Senensky. Sounded like The Waltons is not on your hit list - but as an original member of the Walton cast as one of family - I had the pleasure to work with Ralph on over a dozen episodes including one for which legend Beulah Bondi won an Emmy. I’ve also had the pleasure of him joining me on my YT channel about The Waltons. We have spoken about Star Trek and the iconic episodes he directed along with behind the scenes info on the filming of them. He truly has a remarkable memory of all the shows and series he has directed over the years. Thank you for paying such beautiful tribute to this living legend. Side note - we also had the pleasure of working with Jonathan Frakes on our show for a couple of episodes in his early career pre Star Trek.
Judy, Thanks for the kind words about the podcast and Ralph especially. He is a remarkable man and we were so glad to give him a special weekend. You'll be happy to know a lot of people wanted to talk to him about The Waltons and Earl Hamner, but obviously our interests are more in the Trek arena. That said, Senensky has left several significant television legacies and we deeply appreciate you sharing your love for Ralph here. At the time we discovered Star Trek, we were young, urban, city kids watching ABC and occasionally NBC so The Waltons on CBS wasn't as much on our radar, but obviously, all kidding aside, we do appreciate it's legendary significance in television history and what a meaningful series it was to so many people, including Ralph's many fans. Warm Regards, The Treksperts
@@inglorioustreksperts I appreciate your kind reply. I know it meant a lot to Ralph to be a part of the weekend. He’s going to come be a guest for another series of segments on my RUclips Channel - besides The Waltons stories, our fan base also loves hearing all his wonderful stories from his decades of directing. Many of them have requested more Star Trek stories so you will be represented in our “crossover segments”. It’s been a pleasure to exchange messages. Keep up all the great content.
Wait…The Inglorious Trick-sperts?
Mark is not at all as unfriendly as he makes out to be…
This is a significant episode of the show, we should listen to Andreea Kindryd for many more hours -- she was a witness and participant in history.
She's sensational and we intend to have her back soon. Glad you appreciate her as much as we do.
Any possibility you can add the Air date or podcast number so we know if this is an older podcast or new one? LLAP
Glad you brought this up. We'll try and include episode numbers. Good suggestion.
The Big Valley episodes aired in syndication just before TOS episodes on my local UHF channel in the 70's so I will always associate it (TBV) with my first early viewings of Trek <3
Ah good, someone who got our Big Valley reference :))
Buckaroo Banzai, the modern world’s most renowned scientist / rock&roller / inter-dimensional explorer.
Lifeforce definitely deserves to be preserved!
I Need To see the video of Your STV/Shatner night 🙏❤️ and please We Need To fight to see a Director's Cut or Edition of STV by Shatner... Our Captain deserve tò work on It and see a change of mind in some fans... And producers... ❤ Help him to complete the circle during his lifetime... ❤
That is the dream. To paraphrase Stephen Hawking, we're working on it :))
Wow. What a Trifecta!
was wondering if the full view of William Shatner and his talk about V, will be available. Most interested. Great podcast as usual. FYI, Usually listen while in car all day long, but some on video, like the panel with Bill, would be awsome. Live long and podcaster. Dave in duluth
Finding a pizza for an 11:15 am panel wasn't easy, but I'm glad we did it!
You can't have a good film without a script. This film has a terrible script. There is a reason it won a Golden Raspberry and was nominated for worst movie of the decade. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/10th_Golden_Raspberry_Awards
"I couldn't help but notice your pain."
YES! You DO need to get Lisabeth Shatner on to discuss Star Trek 5.
LOL Sorry I sickened you Mark! ....now you know me, I think you know I was completely joking with my opening suggestion! As we covered in the panel, the complaints about the film have really faded over the years. Thanks for posting this guys! Was so fun and seriously meeting Laurence and Ralph and Cynthia was sincerely the height of my participation in this film. LLAP! - Love Jon
:))
Oh dip a live recording?!
GalaxyCon in OKC was a blast, man. Brent Spiner’s Q&A was definitely a highlight for me. P.S. I was the guy at the Q&A who asked Brent the last question. Also, if you’re looking for good restaurants in OKC, I recommend Bourbon Street Café, as well as Bedlam BBQ. Plus, this is the first episode of your podcast that I watched. I may have to watch some more.
Thanks for asking a great question and glad to have you aboard
@@inglorioustreksperts My pleasure! Thanks! 🖖
Thank you for uploading this.😊
HII WAITING FOR 12 MONKEYS REUNION!!
Good things come to those who wait :))
@@inglorioustreksperts HI STILL WAITING
I’ve only finished about 2/3 so far but just want to say that this is awesome!
YOU'RE awesome!
Love the Galen story ❤ Thank you so much for uploading these episodes! It's just so much better to see all your faces for some reason!
Glad you're enjoying them even if we're mystified how it's better when you see our faces :)) Thanks for the feedback!
I’m surprised how much they showed! But not in a bad way either. Was this a clip from their Chicago public access show, or syndication?
This was syndication after they had moved from Sneak Previews to the syndicated AT THE MOVIES
I totally disagree with these Strange New Worlds critiques. I dont see how adding a sister to Spock lore "diminishes" the Spock character. As a matter of literary/cinematic history, if you make a great character that stands the test of time, new elements will be added to their story. King Arthur, The Devil, Zorro, Batman, Dr Who, Count Dracula all have evolved from their origins. I dont think adding Merlin and Lancelot diminished Arthur. Spock didnt have a brother until 1989. Still Spock. I think for people like RMB it comes down to preference. They prefer their beloved characters a certain way. But its inevitable that the lore surrounded those characters will change across time.
Nice Recreation!!!!
Strange New Worlds has some of the beautiful cinematic scores in the franchise. "Everyone Wants A Piece of Pike" is fantastic.
HOT DAM ! I get to be the 1rst to comment on a STAR TREK FAN site !
