My name is Nolan Sheahan! just your average guy with a passion for racing and trail running! I started my journey by training for a Spartan sprint in 2018 back when I couldn’t run a full mile. Since then I have run 14+ Spartan races all over the US, qualified for the 2019 North American Championship and the 2019 Spartan World Championship! I love to train for my races at South Mountain in Phoenix where I can find peace on the trails. In 2020, I plan on pushing myself to run more miles than I ever have before in an attempt to discover what I’m capable of. I will be attempting to train and run a 100-mile trail race in 2021 and a 250-mile trail race in 2022. Follow me along this journey and wish me luck!

Getting lost in the foothills of south mountain!
What time of year did you do this?
Great recap! Thanks for sharing. Someone just shared in our R2R group. Hiking R2R end of September.
4:24 mans said “you gotta turn on creative mode” 💀
Hello! I was wondering where did u positioned your go pro? Was it on your chest or head? Thanks
What was your weekly mileage going into this attempt? This is a bucket list item for me.
You did rim to rim to rim, and had the strength to do B roll. For the people who don’t know what that means, he walked the b roll sections twice. Very impressive!
Nice one
Great job - both with the walk and the video.
Awesome work. Great video too.
Awesome video!! What kind of camera did you film on? Picture was beautiful
Just a GoPro!
Very impressive ❤❤❤
Nice work Nolan - what time of year was this?
Is the Grand Canyon like ONE PATH or something? I mean seriously, Ive watched 8 Grand Canyon hikes this month and they’re ALL on the same path with the same names like, (I’ve already memorized “Phantom Ranch”)….almost feels like it’s not even “getting away” in that area cause its in every video.
The Grand Canyon has 100s of miles of trails and is a huge vast canyon with many cool spots. However the rugged terrain mixed with the difficult of the climb in and out makes the 3 main trails the most accessible to the public as those trails are maintained. The main hike if you just go down bright angle and back up is still around 20 miles with 5000 feet of elevation gain. Its like Basically going up and down a set of stairs 500 times. So to venture to any other trails of the canyon requires a lot of experience. That’s why you see so much of those trails. Not because they are the only trails, but because it’s the easiest way to experience the Grand Canyon. Also to say that is not “getting away” would be false, even if it is the main trails that most people take. The Grand Canyon has about 6 million visitors per year however only around 1% of those visitors actually hike down into the canyon. So a VERY small percent of the population get to see and experience those trails, and even fewer venture off into the other trails like Tonto for example which is a rugged trail that traverses the bottom of that canyon. Anywhere you go in the Grand Canyon is getting away! Also phantom ranch is not a trail, it’s a campground that people stay at.
This guy’s a BEAST
amazing
Cool video trying to get back into trail running again like I used to. Moved here few months ago close to south mountain and ready to explore and start off slow with some hiking. But able to see your videos and kind of get some ideas of what the terrain looks like.
Thanks for posting. Great footage. I have this drone and am planning on using it for ATV riding. I'm guessing you have to have the remote and phone with you for follow me mode? Would be great if you could set it and go with just the phone.
This is awesome, thanks for sharing! What time of the year did you do the R3? Seems like you didnt see many people.
Bravo! U made it look easy..ascending out that north rim on first cross is switchback hell!! did rim to rim last year from south to north rim. Do you have a pack list posted? or can u share. Most interested in pack/hydro vest type, how was storage? Type and how many calories u packed? Noticed u had no support on north rim to RE supply so wondered how u packed it all? looked like an efficient setup wanted to mimic. Are those the brooks trail runners and what’s covering them? Thanks in advance and congrats! Planning 3 R’s in 18 hours this coming October
Great video! Love that trail
That was full blown punishing, right there! Awesome job doing that. I've run R2R 8 times. Rim-2-River 3 times in the last year. Those trails are absolutely unforgiving, and they never let up.
Outstanding! I've done this a few times but over two days with a good night of sleep on the north rim. Can't imagine turning around and going right back. Great accomplishment.
Thank you! Was difficult but totally worth it!
Hi. Is the size adjustable? Im 5'11 and dont know if the pole is proportion to my height. Hoping for your response thank you
These poles are not adjustable, and mine are fixed at 120cm. I’m 5”10 and they fit me very well. If I were you, I’d get a size 120-125cm. They do have options available that are adjustable but tend to not be as light and only few adjustable poles are collapsible aswell. Hope this helps!
for your height 120cm is in the shorter end. Try to get the 130cm
Thanks your videos are cool...... Train by day ...joe rogan podcast at night ...all day!
Thank you for sharing ! Totally enjoyable to watch and inspirational!, wow
What's your feedback when using these for ultra in hilly terrain?
Love em! I’ve done a few ultras with them and have carried them for like 16 hours at a time with no issue. Super lightweight so it does not add to much weight to carry while going up hills or covering long distance. Also super easy to stow away if you get tired of carrying them. Absolutely great poles for mountain ultras!
Hi do you have to have an operator ID for this drone? Thanks
Nice video and I love the commentary style which gives you an idea of the mental challenge of the hike.
Can you get it to follow closer? and not so far away/blurry??
I have same poles, but I can't get them to lock in place. Very frustrating.
Did rim to rim but this R2R2R is big time. Nice video.
Awesome!! How long did it take u to recuperate from that?
Thank you!! Actually didn’t take too long. Took a few days off and focused on recovery. Then had a 57 mile race the week after which I was fully recovered for in time.
Well done. enjoyed it
Thank you!
Great video. Colorado is so incredibly beautiful 👌
Stay safe Nolan!
Dope video!
How parents describe going to school
2:21 sounds like minecraft
why did you pick aluminum over carbon fiber?
Mainly durability and price. Aluminum is still fairly lightweight and strong. Plus if you accidentally put to much pressure on an aluminum pole it just bends rather then snaps or cracks, so on long adventures it’s more reliable in my opinion. That being said carbon fiber is definitely lighter and still extremely strong, just wasn’t worth saving a couple ounces for an extra 70 bucks. If you are going really lightweight and have the money, carbon fiber may be a good option
@@nolansheahan7465 ok thank you so much. Not caring about the cost so much just trying to decide between the two versions al vs cf. My friend has cf version so the only one I know much about. Thanks for the responce.
Such a pretty trail! makes me want to go check it out (and run it). I'll look up the trail ;-) Well done!!!
8:37 looks like a dream
Hiked up Sneffels in summer about 1984. I remember that uphill gap very well. Still some snow on it back then.
Well done…nice job on your first 14er!!
Super rad dude!
Its a beautifull dron, but the drifting things is a major odd. It was my first dron, and I was without experience, so my first crash i thought was my fault... I had to buy and repleace an arm.... Now I know its a factory problem, And In México the customer service is very bad. They not even answer.... so now i have a $300 dollar piece of junk... Then I bought the DJI Mini 2, its simply amazing.... So this is beautifull gut I really recomend you to buy other like de DJI MINI SE, best cámera, a little more money, but it is stable as a rock, and the customer service is amazing.
lol the mini doesnt have follow me. its more for kids
“One final push to the rim “😂 There was manzanita rest area and one other that you had to pass . You still had 3 hours from the top , you sure made that seam easy till I went two weeks back . Park ranger but on RUclips I should be to the top already 😩😩😩🤢🤮
What's the difference between Supercross and Supercross Blast? Thank you
Supercross was the first model, the blast fixed issues with it. It basically added extra material at the flex points where people (including myself) had got holes forming, we are talking inside 100-150 miles already pretty bad. The Blast by contrast are great and at 400 miles of running only just starting to see a little hole. Sadly the new model the Supercross 3 had regressed and there is no longer the extra fabric to prevent the holes. Not happy with Salomon for doing this.
Did a down and up a couple of years ago. Lost my quads going down and my lungs going up. A R2R2R is an accomplishment.
Man, you're one mighty human being. My friend and I did Bright trail on April 4th 2021. We went down to the Colorado river and chilled for a bit then went back up. After Indian Garden is where the Hellfest to the top begins. So for you to do R2R2R in 16+ hours, I Salute You my friend. Great Work.
Thank you! R2River2R is still an impressive hike, nice work! And that’s right haha after Indian Garden is where it gets real rough climbing starts! Gotta love the never ending switch backs!
That is a very quick time especially starting and finishing on BA not to mention time lost setting your video equioment to catch the shots of you coming and going, congratulations a on a hike well done
Really appreciate that! Thanks for watching 🤘👊
