I think it's funny that the extreme styles of the time are what represent the era when those of us who lived it will remember most everybody leaving interiors stock and barely changing the engine from what it came with outside bolt-ons. Back then you were much more likely to see a random B12 Sentra on Prime wheels with Tokico suspension and a Flowmaster than anybodys full-on show car build roaming the streets. I know there were many exceptions, I had several friends in the car show scene back then and I enjoyed helping them setup their booths but I was the one that gutted the interior, cut the dash in half and ripped everything out of a car that wasn't going to help with power generating or aero lol
