Was a truck driver for 37 years, I would have kept an eye on my right mirror anticipating a stupid driver and been ready to adjust my speed even though I had the right of way.

As a fellow driver, I feel really bad for the truck. No matter how stupid the driver of the car is, the DOT will always blame the trucker.

The driver of this truck should have slowed to allow the convertible to merge as the solid white line indicated. No problem to lift your foot off the gas for a mere second or two. Now you had to stop at the scene of an accident, and you are the cause. You not paying attention, or you sticking to your “right of way” theory. Letting someone in will never infringe on your human rights!

I drive semis. I try to move over if clear to prevent this from happening. Less paperwork. I am still amazed at the number of drivers who don't know that the "on ramp" is also called the acceleration lane. You can actually get up to freeway speed prior to merging onto the freeway.

in california i was told by CHP at the scales that they give truckers tickets for unsafe lane change if you change lanes a 3rd time to let people on and a cop sees you do it all 3 times, was told to let the car figure out how to get into lane cause people already on highway have right of way

At 0:46, truck driver should've used defensive driving and backed off quickly so this idiot wouldn't hit him. Especially since the truck driver had hood mirrors. Truck driver most likely lost his safety bonus.

You know, I really wonder about the intelligence of some drivers, especially ones in little sports cars. Do they honestly believe that they can survive getting hit by a big truck in those little bitty cars???

Whatever happened to the rule, "whoever the last person is who could have avoided the accident, is the one at fault? If the trucker could have stopped and avoided the accident, then he should have. He's assuming the car driver is an obnoxious person, when in reality they may have had a reason for cutting off the trucker. Why don't we ever get the whole story?? I like to know the facts before I go blaming someone for something!

a friend of my older brother once told me when I was a new licensed driver to always keep this in mind while driving: two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. nearly 52 yrs driving now and no accidents.

Most truck drivers know that each driver should be careful not to hit someone merging or vise versa within city limits or on a heavy commute. Something an experienced driver knows and it does not matter how heavy your load is. That is why truckers change lanes to avoid a possible Mishaps.
