Is that near the motocross track?
Redneck trophy trucks 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I would have watched the whole thing if it was available.
yee-haw!
Charlie you are the man with all this hit to pass history... what year would this have been?
Epic Charlie... in my opinion hands down best Era of hit to pass racing at western speedway and I'd would say best htp cars and drivers anywhere!
awesome brings back so many memories. turn 4 old wooden stands was a whole different era of western speedway.
I've been to most of these tracks more times than I probably can remember. ...I grew up in it. ...There's footage of my Grandfather's car in a few of these clips...Blue skin white frame #80 driven by the great Larry Dickson. ...The good ol days....I was just a kid then great memories of the race weekends !
Yes! It was called "The Larry and Gary Show".
11:00 a terrible crash. Where was this?
13:20 is that the 1972 Hut Hundred ? (midgets)
Great stuff. Any idea what dirt track that was ? Looked really treacherous.
Thank you for posting
It is not as safe as 'The World of Outlaw Sprint Cars'. With Outlaws they have those big wings on top & in front. Although their primary purpose is to increase downforce, if the car rolls the wings doubles as a cushion to absorb the worst of the impact when it happens.
Are all of these tracks in Indiana?
I grew up in Indianapolis. I remember laying in bed at night, with the windows open, we could hear the Sprint Cars at the Indiana State Fairgrounds during the Hoosier 100. This was back in the 60's and 70's. Back in those days. If you loved racing. You couldn't live in a better place.
I live in Germany and have heard about this type of racecars only by watching a piece on Mario Andretti (who quote "loves the dirt"). Having read about the sort of engines and horses they used in these utterly wild creations there is only one word: 'obscene'. It is a pity you won't be able to grasp how unbelievable this V8 Rodeo feels to our tamed senses over here :). Thanks.
Good stuff. When I was a kid.
Terre Haute Action Track 1/2 mile.
Hell yeah.
thanks for the post! outstanding classic footage.
I'm guessing the 1st action shown in the film was at Salem?
Cool footage
play at 1.5 speed :)
Im on . 25 slow. Amazing how the body stretches beyond those bolt on cages!!
Outstanding video of some of the class talent that has inhabited the ranks of U.S.A.C over the years, many of whom made the long trip to race down here in Australia. And very thankful for the opportunity to see them come over, even though we weren't much competition for them at the time, at least not in the Sprintcars, but we held our own in the Midgets. A great pleasure to watch. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic vision of the USAC Sprintcars from the early 1970s, by the looks of it. Thanks for posting.
Great racing ..back in the day Fat tires and big engines have ruined racing.
Didn't you notice that the Tires on those Sprintcars were anything but thin. Or are we all hallucinating?
The high costs aside, too much horsepower is always a good thing for Sprint Cars.
1:43 JR?
Bravest of the brave
silver crown still goes there great racing
Damn! These guys were tough! Many an accident that looked fatal...sure makes one think about the potential of not making a long career in this sport. Good classic filming from those years gone by. Long live the champs memories of sprint car racing.
These drivers sure had the tumbles in this type of auto racing. Made some pretty tough guys those days. Lots of talent in those 1970's.
Lot of dead people too
Glad its safer now
Thank God for Dick Wallen.
