Etude Competition WINNER Mira Kardan!
Congratulations to @cello.mira for winning the 2024 Meadowmount Etude Competition!
All students had to learn the most difficult sections from 20 Popper Etudes. They were told to practice 7 etudes every week for 5 min each the first 3 weeks. Week 4 and 5 - 10 etudes each week. Week 6 and 7 all hard places from the etudes for a maximum 1 hour per day.
Semifinal students played 6 etudes for finals 6 other etudes. The goal was to see how practice time can be stretched out and how to practice in a very effective smart way.
It was a great experience and all students learned a lot from it!

Семён Козолупов (преподаватель Ростроповича) считал что стаккато - врождённый штрих. Сам он им не владел, а его дочь - пианистка, владела пулемётным стаккато. И демонстрировала это на виолончели. Правда Ютуба тогда не существовало 😊 С уважением!

I don’t see much of a point in this, they are learning to play out of tune
Exactly what I was thinking. You can’t possibly become better if you’re all trying to play 85000 scales at a trillion BPM in a room full of the same instrument, with horrible acoustics, and without proper fundamentals in place.
@@cookric yeah and its quite a shame coming from hand as he is very well respected, but this makes me wonder if he is such a good teacher or not
