We have owned this bike for 7000km and 3 months to tour South East Asia on it. It's a bike that is also sold as the Jialing Coco Cross 125x, Rato Monarch Axis 125 and under a few other names. This is my Brutally Honest, deep-dive review of the bike. This is literally best 500x review i have ever seen. God i have triumph tiger 660, i dont plan on taking it to world tours. maybe i would if i had passive income to sustain myself on foreign trips, fuel, food etc.. But damn, i dont even own 500x but watched it with pure interest. Amazing job on so many topics, perhaps you spent tens of hours making video and compiling this
Eto po ba ung Monarch Axis 125 dto stin?
Thanks for detailed review....in Turkey it is sold under the name of "Altai Tank 125 X" by the way....
Thanks, a really useful review, covering the actually important parts of such a bike.
This is a well presented and very practical, useful review. Great video.
💪🙂👍
Nc review seeing those pros and cons of that aveta 125 in my country (phil) its skygo monarch axis 125.. I guess i gonna choose on honda xrm 125 or the suzuki raider J crossover
I'd do the same today. I just don't know how good the quality assurance of a Chinese designed bike ks going to be in other countries. Honda tend to have more consistent quality regardless of country of manufacture. The XRM is an awesome little machine. I'd have to look up the Suzuki Raider J Crossover.
Hey brother. Just want to ask about its performance in uphill or steep roads.
It's like a Wave 110i. The low gearing helps it. My partner who weighs less than me and carried less luggage, managed to keep up with my wave125i. However it does lose power relatively quickly once yoy start exceeding 1300m or so in Altitude.
"Allgemeiner deutscher Automobil Club", come on, no Australian can say that without an accent, you're originally from Germany/Austria?
Caught me there. I did migrate from Germany many moons ago.
🙂
RCR fan? Subbed. RCR "not a car" video mentioned. Notification on
Haya-Bro'sa! Great to see someone who also warches RCR and some of the niche automotive channels. I hope he gets to do more bike stuff again.
Wow finally someone who actually goes over the entire bike properly and not just circlejerk bootlicking.
now aveta ranger max have its own rival in Malaysia..yamaha pg-1..
Yeah, I hope this guy gets hold of one for a review, as this is exactly the kind of review I like :)
Hi from Russia .I also use this moped👍👍👍
Are you from Small bike stuff NZ?
Nice seeing people who have seen the vids. I contributed my Wave video to the "around the world" series that Calum / Small Bike Stuff did and contributed a bit on his channel. I sent some parts before I set off and he did an interview with me about my trip and how I got into riding. ruclips.net/video/mvYcqBdZp54/видео.htmlsi=jFo7jhsvuidednl4
Do we have a solution for the exhaust heat?
If we had kept it, we would have probably figured something out. Maybe a DIY heat shield. Maybe even re-routinf the exhaust using one off a Honda Wave?
This is such an underrated video. What a well produced video shedding light on a much needed motorcycle. Thanks!
We were quoted $7000 AUD for 20ft container, Darwin to Dili, March 2025. Its crazy!!!
Jeez that's mental how much it's gone up again. I'm all for getting there by your own means, but these prices make the whole thing ridiculous. More so, considering that the ship already went to Singapore. This is in f##k off price territory where they just don't want overlanders on their route.
Do you have the address for the seat upholstery company please ?
Look on Google Maps for "Has Cushion" in the South of Kuala Lumpur.

Thanks, Thomas, very handy info. I think for my US trip I will buy a bike there and sell via a US Friend.
Great to see you on here. Glad to hear the info is useful. It was a pain to learn it all and was hoping a condensed version (with a bit of humour) helps others. Wishing you the best of luck on your trip to the USA. I'm curious how you get there. I'll message you on who I used to ship from Brisbane.
A job well done. Besides very informative I enjoyed the wildlife footage.
It is very satisfying to see a person who rides real routes on a small motorcycle, instead of the usual bloggers who talk about what big and powerful motorcycles they need to travel 10-20 kilometers on city streets and roads with a speed limit 😂
My motorcycle camping 🏕️❤😊
A small point that may help people with a Carnet. The value is based on the original purchase price of the vehicle - not its value as it stands. Not to important with a bike but if you're building a expedition type vehicle its a significant saving to just value the base chassis.
Interesting. In my Australian carnet and that of a friend we have the value of the vehicle in its current state. That friend used the value for the Bond when he entered India. I scrambled any identification, but left the value in my photographed carnet page as is. You can see it at the 4:07 mark.
Great video Tom, I got your back when you make it to UK 🇬🇧
Thanks a lot! I'll have to go past there for medical check ups and to meet friends there :)
@@tomonabudgethow much time do you have in mind for the UK leg Tom?
No fixed schedule. Some time in winter. Given my current pace I'd suspect in January. It's gonna suck riding in European winter, but I guess that adds to the adventure.
"... but I guess that adds to the adventure.", yup, it will, @tomonabudget , the winter will welcome you to cold, moist weather and slippery roads ...
Your video is very interesting, but you talk very fast. English is not my mother language, so it so difficult for people like me. Thank for read this comment
Thanks a lot for the feedback. You should be able to slow the speed in the settings (the ⚙️ symbol) and allow subtitles. I hope the subtitles are okay as they are automatically generated by RUclips. I normally see people get annoyed with presenters speaking too slowly and they set the speed to 1.25x or faster 😁 I hope that works and you find value in the content.
What a sensible review! Of course we don’t get this machine in UK 🇬🇧 but your comments make a lot of sense to me. I have a Honda Innova (ANF125, a carb model) which I’ve much modified. Strangely it looks a lot like this bike, even to the colour. And I’ve even had some issues with my mods which you have with this machine (dip-stick under the exhaust!… I’ve re-modified that one🤔👍). I really like this sort of bike, but can’t afford / justify spending Honda prices on my hobby. Will look at some more of your videos. Thank you! Les in UK 🇬🇧
You must have done a lot of research & plenty of real life experience Your video should help plenty of people of that way of thinking with there motorcycles etc living there dream journey Gud on Yer Tom 😊
Thanks a lot! It certainly is a dream journey I'm on. I'm very grateful to have this opportunity in my life. I see many people who'd love to do a fraction of the trips I've done. The bureaucracy and headaches behind all that are sadly a distraction. But i hope it helps others with their plans. Next week I'll have part 2 come online.
@@tomonabudget enjoy your beautiful & sometimes painful journey Tom Some of these experiences will stay with you for a lifetime Way 2 Go Fella 👊
POZDROWIENIA! from Poland ! :D have the same bike just 2023 model ! :)
It seems also that Honda forgot about Europe to import the CT125, from all the current small Honda's it's the one that I most wish to own. Unfortunately this one won't be available too😢 , I don't see any AbS or combined braking system which is a No no for europe.😢😢
As far as I know the CT125 is compliant with EU braking regulations as far as brakes are concerned. There dual channel ABS is only mandatory on bikes >250cc. Else Honda Germany wouldn't be selling the Dax an Monkey. Australia and New Zealand require Dual Channel ABS or CBS on anything >70cc. Why the CT125 was never imported into Europe? I have no idea. There's clearly demand for the bike and for some reason they refuse to bring it to many markets that really wan tit.
Remove the shields wrap the pipe with exhaust wrap and then put the shields back on it'll make a world of difference
I've done added some wrap onto an exhaust once. It's not something I'd recommend if there are alternatives. The reason is moisture. That wrap can trap water and cause the exhaust to rust, which I've read from a few people that found a lot of corrosion when they took the wrap off again.
Best review
In Philippines, its called Axis 125 Monarch Brand or Skygo.
😎👍🇺🇲 That how we do it in the US too. If we smell burning mayonnaise and hotdogs. We know some part of our body is on fire. We usually snuff it out, scrape off the goo and carry on. 🤣
I've also heard it called a Thai or Vietnamese tattoo 😎
maybe try the zontes zt155g. that is a scrambler. with 20litre for petrol. euro 5. There is another one coming by MForce. looks something like the aveta
Same design with Monarch Axis 125
yes because it's from RATO Motorcycle, haha
Oh boy this review is gold.
I’d be interested to see a review on this bike in three years time with 20k on the clock.
As user of this bike since April 2024, I would like to say it is highly accurate review. The smoking BBQ piping close to your feet & legs, having trouble with electric start, and big exhaust create bigger problem for side racks. Yet this cheap adventure cub available in Malaysian market while Honda and Yamaha doesn't. Using for daily commute on weekdays and offroad adventure on weekends.
We experienced that also here in the Philippines 😂😅
Any solution for this exhaust heat?
@@TheTruth70777 you could use some thermal wrapping but i dont suggest it. Because it might cause some rusting in the long run.
Pakai harian buat kerja ok x bang?
These are just cheap and crappy chinese bikes basically. 😅
I can only compare it to Honda Clone bikes, an Aldi pressure washer I used to own and a few impressions I got from people that owned Benelli's. I'd put it into the middle category when it comes to Chinese quality. Maybe on par with what I'd expect from a Benelli. It's certainly a lot better than the really cheap stuff which rattles, shakes, falls apart and has the clear plastics go all milky and yellow after 1 month.
hopefully Yamaha PG1 will be available in Malaysia soon
It's certainly a good opportunity for Yamaha as Honda dropped the ball here. To everyone else's benefit. I've seen a few PG-1's in Thailand. My only complaint with the PG-1 would be the choice of wheels as they're rather small for a trail bike. Some people complain about the power, but I just haven't ridden one or any bike with that engine to provide good feedback. Reason: the power output per cc varies so much between engines it's crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if the piano company's 110cc engine pull harder than a 125cc Honda. The nmax 155 the I rode in Taiwan and showed in the video when I was talking about the seating position, was certainly pulling wayyyyyy above its weight! It felt more like a 200 to 250. I'm hoping that Yamaha might add CBS so it can be imported to Australia as we're truly starved for interesting small bikes there.
its launched already

Thanks Tom for the review of this bike. I have been waiting for a good professional review video regrading this bike in english for long time, and I were thinking to make one as I can not find any video in this topic. Aveta Ranger Max is Jialing Coco Cross 125x and it is a China bike. Hence, most of the accessories you can find are in Taobao, and you can not find anywhere else. For Pannier Rack especially, there will be much cheaper to import those accessories from China compare to local sources (and most of them import from China as well).
Interesting to know that. I've also seen a bike that looks identical appear in the Philippines. It did have a different name but also had that X on the tank too. Interesting to know that there are rack out there. I hope they're better than what we had welded up in a hurry. It was also a few months ago now so there should be more accessories coming out.
@@tomonabudget As far as I know, Jialing start to enter SEA market last year. They have signed an agreement with two distributors in Malaysia and Philippine. In Malaysia, they rebrand it as Aveta Ranger Max (which I agree with you that it is a crap name, it should be given a name with shorter model code name) and in Philippine, they rebrand it as Rato Monarch Axis 125. Since there are zero info in non-chinese internet media, it is less known by small motorbike enthusiast.
So, after thinking that this was a true Malaysian company, it's a big Chinese company that's producing their bikes in local markets. I wish I had known that. Thanks for the info! It almost follows "Cunningham's Law" where I wouldn't I'm not getting the answer after posting something on the topic :D I guess that explains how they managed to come up with so many models, so quickly. it might also explain some of the weird issues with Quality .Like the engine castings and the frame welds are actually really good. But then you find really "dumb" mistakes like the fork springs or the bad weld + bracket on the centre stand.
@@tomonabudget Not to be misunderstood. Aveta Ranger Max is a very reliable and well design "Scrambler kapcai". Although I have known all the possible production issues prior to my procurement of this bike, I never regret my decision. As long as all the known issues had been taken care, it will withstand high attitude terrain and from sub zero to tropical climate, which had been proven in many China vlogger's videos.
Thanks but no thanks for having one because it's not cheap and I won't want to spend me time fixed a New Bike that going to gave me problems. Thanks for your advice before I bought it! ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊🤦♀️🙏🏼
Awesome video. Loved how comprehensive the info was about this tidy little machine. Wish they were in more countries!
Thanks a lot! I know I've been a bit critical on it. All with the intend that they fix the issues as it does have a lot of potential.
Emergency footpeg solution. On my VFR800 while waiting for replacement part I trimmed a mounting plate out of a nylon cutting board using a 12mm bolt for a footpeg. I then kept it in my pack as an emergency spare. The bolt head stops ur foot slipping off
Great mods but I live in germany, so TÜV says NO!
No more Werner Beinhart Wurstblinker?! I honestly don't know where the TÜV draws the line from regulated behind modification to accessories. I'm honestly glad to be living in Australia where that is not an issue. Fingers crossed the Germans won't give me too much stink when I arrive with my Wave.
A superb, honest and very informative review. I myself have lost count of the number of bikes i;ve owned and ridden over 5 decades and my 2014 x for the past 6 years has been my little do it all ride. As mentioned before it's a motorcycle that can tackle so man tasks well whilst still inspiring confidence. My main uses comprise of a bit of lane use and a few trips up the coast which my little gem handles with ease, providing ample power, great comfort and superb economy what more could you want? Happy days
Great video, thank you
Than you for the video, the information density beats 99.9999% of all videos in RUclips.
