Union Pacific 844 operating on the Blair Sub westbound through Arlington, Nebraska on June 30th enroute from Omaha to North Platte. If her whistle sounds different, it is, during her 2011 trips she was using big brother 3985's whistle, til she got her's back on her way home in November.

It is a 1943 4-6-6-4-4, they started building the challengers in 1936 starting with the CSA-1s and they stopped building them in 1944 with the 4-6-6-4-5s
Which ones came first the challengers or the big boys
I think challengers came first
It's the same year when they put the UP 4-6-6-4 Challenger #3985 out of service for a 1472 hour boiler inspection.
