Just a small recommendation I’m not trying to tell you what to do but new pilots watch this and you are doing this walk around without a checklist
If the logitech pedals have a flaw that causes a part to fail, then there is nothing else to be said. Failure is not acceptable. . Thanks for the review. I'm getting ready to buy some pedals and the logitech was on the list of possibles. Noped that right off the list.
After having used the original mfg crosswinds for a decade of combat flight simming, I can attest to the quality and durability of this product.
I like it how he did the 74gear intro with the "coming up" and then his intro
c182 holds 12 quarts not 11 but very nice video thanks
Will try this place FBO has a courtesy car? Taxi?
Thank you for sharing. I fly my family in my 182 regularly, and kids love it, thwy being their blankets and stuffed animals and get all cozy. The "isolate crew" button of the intercom is their favorite 😂
For me it was the plastic hook of the spring in one of the pedals so the pedal wouldn't go back...
I'm watching this, having bought the MFG pedals a long time ago now. It's a good review, one further difference for the MFG pedals is the cam centring profile, it's a small piece on on the USB side, near the top, you'll notice a bearing running on a curved surface, this can be replaced with parts included with the pedals, and they sell alternates on the website, basically it allows you to change the tension curve and centre detent to better replicate the aircraft you're simming. maybe not a huge detail, but it may be one someone wants.
I've opened the Logitech pedals to remove the center detent and relubricate them, and these wires seem to be in tension, or close to, when you move the yaw axis. Not the best design for sure...
It's like comparing a Lexus and a Chevette. The MFG pedals are twice as expensive as the Logitechs.
رائع
MFG pedals are basically meant to use the dampener kit for a more realistic feel with the pedals. You can use the dampner with or without spring and it's an vastly improved feeling for both jets and especially helicopters.
holy crap whats with the shitty cuts of music????
When resoldering wires you absolutely DO NOT melt the wire coating off. You use a wire stripper (or in a pinch, a knife) to remove the coating.
Very nice video, thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work. God Bless.
i never expected to see chris martin reviewing flight sim gears on youtube
Hay Friendly Flyer, at 6:23, instead of a toolbox as a wall spacer for the Saitek, you can mount the two attachable heel extensions (the two plastic originally meant to be mounted under your heel) to the front end instead of the back end of the pedals.
use sandpaper on the speaker wire to clean it, the flux and 60/40 solder. use one of those multi hand jigs, super easy. atleast with a decent soldering iron. I have a hakko
Thank you for the idea, it was new to me at the time and I realize now there was a way to manage it.
@@AlanOnCA 100%, just wanted people to know its doable
Yeah
Can't afford the MFGs, and Thrustmaster makes an inexpensive set but the pedals are way too close together. Seems the Logitech/Saiteks are the only affordable option... (that give you more space between feet...)
Is MFG compatible with all the airplanes of msfs? I mean it is working well with all the airplane which have rudder pedals?
You need a track ir duude
Disasters have happened here too. I couldn't make sure, do your pedals wobble from side to side, away from the center?
Really? You don't know what you don't know, you know how to flight a plane but are not aware if this tool? ruclips.net/video/R6UTgBICY98/видео.html
Remove the thin paint layer of the cable with a soldering iron and use soldering grease to remove any debree. Then u can use rosin to make the solder soak into the ends of the cable.
beautiful landing
Aztec slow sure and strong 💪
If the mfg's are so good, why are they so hard to find? Are they even still being manufactured? What is the price difference between the two? I just purchased pro flight and I think I'll avoid the toe brakes and stick to trigger brake to lessen the chance of breakage
Good to know that the logitech/saitek pedals are garbage build quality will be looking in to the mfg or virpil pedals instead.
What pedals are BEST for helicopter sim?
I suspect these would be fine for that. What rotary are you looking to simulate?
@@FriendlyFlier R22 R44
I flew an R-22 last year in Colombia and didn't notice anything special with the pedals other than they use a horizontal bar instead of foot panels. Any pedals should do for training purposes.
@@FriendlyFlier ok. Thanks
Awesome!
I'm actually more interested in your PFC yoke and throttle :) May I ask if it is a force feedback yoke? The $1,995 newest model is described as having a "Control Loading" system and has a power supply which I assume is an FFB unit but some YTB video shows the seemly older model are not...
It’s not force feedback. They adding some bungee chords to provide resistive force.
@@FriendlyFlier Roger, thx.
Really nice Alan!
Such a gorgeous plane....
I'm surprised that you didn't talk about all the other amazing adjustments on the MFG or that it's all ball bearing and not plastic bushings. There's no comparison in my view.
Yeah, there were a lot of other things missing from this ”review”. The fact that for the MFG you can set the incline of the pedals, options to set the pedal width, the ability to change out the cams for a softer or harder center as well as linear or progressive resistance on the yaw axis. My MFGs are still going strong. The one ares that I found “problematic” was the footprint with the narrower edge close to the pilot did mean that it could tip to one side when you put one foot down but mounting them with a square piece of “shelf board” and 4 screws made it solid as a rock and they will outlast anything in my sim.
@@sguyouttanowhere8319 LOL, I screwed mine right into the floor through the carpet. 😁
@@GovG33k Now that is hardcore! I have wood floors and taking my wife’s reaction to that into account; I wanna live! 😂
@@sguyouttanowhere8319 My wife's a pretty cool chick. She was the one who bought me the pedals, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo gear as well. 😉 Though she wants hardwood flooring so I might be back where you are trying to figure out a solution soon enough.
@@GovG33k Highly recommend the shelf board. Minimally it only needs to be deep enough to attach the front/back screws, wide enough to reach the outside of the pedals, and thick enough to be a solid screw set (mine is about a half inch). You just need 4 screws long enough to reach halfway into it. For visual purposes it can be stained to blend in with the floor. For additional slide prevention I have it sitting on top off a slightly larger carpet-mat (although it really isn’t needed). One day I will get around to buying some contact glue and fixing that to the bottom and trimming it. Good luck with whatever you do
very nice
Had these for quite a few years...just added the Adjustable hydraulic damper for added realism....great product!
Right on!
The British machine (steam rollers we call them) was probably the one that built the runway. Nice video. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
My Logitech pedals broke after 3 weeks of use. Plastic junk.
what is the best solution, 3 Full HD 27” monitors or a 37” 4k monitor? Thanks for your response
Full HD 27" is terrible. I've one and that was the worst buying decision for years. FHD is a terrible resolution on such a big screen. Don't waste your money.
I agree with Fluse Int., 27" really needs at lest 1440p. But... get just one 1440p 27" and get additional VR headset for the money saved, if you have good graphics card. Oculus Quest 2 or HP reverb G2 if you have RTX3080, 3080Ti or 3090, or the Valve Index or Oculus Rifs S if you have weaker graphics card.
I'm a pilot who uses the flight sim to practice procedures. I would say any monitor with a TrackIR will work. My breakthrough moment was when I prioritized what features I needed for training versus trying to reproduce a cockpit at home.
Imho a good monitor combined with track eye r is nicer than a vr headset. But that's a matter of taste.
@@fluseint.1303 (you wrong then)*edited, "you may be wrong" I do have Reverb G2 and 27"1440p monitor+TrackIR. Reverb G2 is on the level where cockpit is about same resolution as watched on 1440p LCD, yes the distant objects looks a little lower, similar to 1080p LCD, but the immersion difference is night and day. So why bother with LCD then? Well its easier to control all the features of flight sim especially simulating modern aviation with lots of keybinds, in VR you dont have keyboard in your sight. If you have big HOTAS then you can map all needed controls to its so you can operate it blind. Once there would be some viable solution for hand tracking and cockpits become "clickable" flat monitors will be thing of past. For rotary the VR is almost a must, to be able to look around and not have to guess the distance to objects is mandatory. I dont remember when I last used my flat screen+TrackIR for flight sim the last time, but its a while back. Before Reverb G2, Quest2, Pimax 8KX yes the flat screen was much nicer, LCD had everything sharper, no screen door effect, but now all the low resolution is gone and VR is is much better for flight siming. Fluse Int. I edited the start of my reply, I do treasure your opinion, I just felt that you may have not experienced latest evolution of VR, have put it in wrong words.
love the music, sounds like a 70s cop show
The experience was surreal. Nice guy, but having him tell me he thinks an airport is closed when it clearly was not is a bit too much.
Thanks for the comparison. Helpful to know possible "weak points" on the Logi. But this is like comparing a Mercedes to a Toyota and criticizing the quality of the leather. These two products are in a complete different category / segment. The MFG costs 2x or more depending on supply / demand.
Well a Toyota can defeat a Mercedes. The Toyota is gonna last way longer. Mercedes have turned their vehicles into a maintenance monopoly. If you are sleeping in a bed of money, sure, a Mercedes is the way to go but if you want something thats going to carry you for a very long time and has low maintenance and basically chaperones itself, take the Camry.
Can't find rudder pedals. MFG Crosswind V2 anywhere.
Please take this as constructive criticism.. I can't for the life of me understand why you guys put music in these videos it makes no sense and I literally had to turn the video off.. People who watch these videos want to hear the raw sound of the plane not some wack music that you think is really cool
Thanks for the feedback, some people ask for the music. What would you like to hear instead? Just the engine sounds? They are pretty loud. Would you want it reduced in volume?
or you could just but the JST XH connecter kit and some wire and make a new wire to install that would cost about $45 for all the materials on amazon and once you are done you will have around 498 connectors and about 49M of wire left over for other projects it would take maybe 20 min of work to do
Great idea! Would love to see a video of you fixing one! If you manage to put one together, share it back here!
checking a soft-wing system without an engine is much faster than this!
As soon as you mentioned MSFS - you lost me. P3D or X-Plane...
so, i’m looking at buying rudder pedals for the first time, and i think you saved me a lot of money. the pro flight pedals have very high ratings everywhere i look. your video shocked me and i investigated further. i found and endless line of complaints about them breaking. just years worth of complaints! it seems they have a known fault that the company couldn’t care less about. this video deserves a lot more attention.
Thank you, that's why I decided to make it. You really don't realize it until you tear them down.
Waoh nice video
