Hi! I'm Urmy from Urmy's Cakes. I specialise in making egg-free and vegan cakes. I will be teaching you how to make cakes easily using my cake mixes! I will also be showing how to make simple fondant decorations.
I have also recently decided to share some of my food recipes:) I love cooking as much as baking, it’s always been something I’ve loved doing and I feel like it’s time to share some of the little knowledge that I have:) I have learnt a lot of cooking over the years from my mother, aunties and close family friends and I'm sharing some of what I've learned. Nice variation of our palak or methi dal... I.would add some garlic and ginger along with oniona. Asding thw chilli poqder and turmeric powder after tomatoes are alomost cookes will help prevwnt burning as the juice of tomatoes would suffice. Your method is fine too. Finally I would add a dash of lemon juice once the dal is done. All these are small additions / changes which enhance both flavour and taste. Thank you for the video.

Very nicely explained. For a twist in this recipe, you can make sugar caramel and add it instead of jaggery(brown sugar), caramel will add to the flavor. On a lighter note, I didn't know Payasam were made for funerals? Maybe you meant for later rituals.

Hi, urmila, this video is very nostalgic for me. It just took me back when I visited Annlkshmi Perth. And I was helping out in kitchen and Swamiji had invited Dr.L.subrmn & family. So, it was time of Onam, and I think it's sashi aunty who was preparing few dishes and one of them was this Mango Pachadi (maybe More kuzhambu) anyway, aunty was soo particular about the type of curd she required. Arun had got a curd, which we used to make lassi, but aunty refused to use it. I was wondering what the fuss was about, curd is curd (oh my limited knowledge). Then aunty went out and got the right type of curd (Greek yogurt, I think) and made the dish. And yes once I tasted, it was sooo yummy😋 creamy. Then Swamiji was having it for lunch, He simply finished off the cup! Thanks for sharing ❤.
Thank you for sharing that experience Aditya:) She is a very good cook but I think the Aunty you are referring to in Perth is Aunty Hemachandran who is an equally good cook and used to cook all the Kerala dishes here in Perth:) Also, one of my favourite teachers:)

usually, when making Vendaikai curry, add the salt right at the end. salt, will bring out the moisture from the okra, so it tends to be sticky & slimy. Also to maybe spice it up, u can add sambar powder along with salt at the end. Even grated coconut. Swamiji loves this dish!
