Welcome to Over The Hill Cycling, where I share short films of adventures on my road bike. From iconic mountain passes which feature in the Grand Tours to some of my local roads here in Scotland. We take our time (up and down) and hopefully give you a sense of what it is like to ride these amazing roads. From the French Alpes to Mallorca and adventures closer to home, here in Scotland. Bealach na Bà: Scotland's hardest road bike climb?
Join me as I take on Bealach na Bà, one of Scotland’s most iconic and challenging road bike climbs. Filmed on 25 May 2024, this epic ride will inspire and challenge you to tackle this legendary ascent. Known as the ‘Pass of the Cattle,’ Bealach na Bà boasts hairpin bends reminiscent of Alpine roads and is the UK’s closest equivalent to a true mountain pass.
Rising from sea level to 626 meters (2,054 feet) in just 9.1 km (5.6 miles), the road features an average gradient of 7%, with sections reaching up to a gruelling 20%.
