    Nirvana? Talk about over rated. Beatles changed more than any other band album to album. No way to pigeon hole them. They always grew and evolved. Zep ripped off many blues players, but did give credits on their first album. And talk about a blueprint. More bands copied them because they kicked ass. Even today you can enjoy their music. But I get it with Yes. Don't forget Genesis. These bands mixed the classical music with rock. Accomplished musicians and complex music way beyond the garage band rock. Progressive was a trip for almost 20 minutes at a time. The instruments that were available and the skill made rock music so much more than rock. Just listen to Jon Andersons latest album at 79 with a group of younger highly trained musicians and you will hear bliss.

      Afraid I do not agree. Rachel did NOT want to go to Paris. She really did want to stay and keep her family together but she felt Ross wasn’t stepping up as the man in the family and so she felt unwanted. She decided the only thing to do was to therefore get as far away from the “unwantedness” as possible. She KNEW the French would hate her; she did not want to go. So when Ross FINALLY wised up and realized he couldn’t live his life without her, he took the step and Rachel got what she really wanted. A family. Everyone (but Joey) got a family and that resolved the original tagline: “Friends is a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family.” That ran its course and they grew into their own families.

    • @WaterCarrier07

      @@donnasnuggs910 no need to be afraid there’s nothing scary 😉 Given that Ross and Rachel have 5 series gap where they aren’t together and are really only tied to one another after an unplanned Emma is born, and given the era the finale was released it would have been incredible and such a growth on Rachel to finish a successful, single mother, on her own, moving away from the comfort of NYC and taking on a new challenge. Falling back inline with what Ross wants and especially after his erratic/charcuterie behaviour behind to become excessive in the later series, I’m always disappointed in Rachel’s choice to go back to him. In Joey’s case, he both doesn’t get a satisfying end, he’s left on his own with no one, and the character itself is also decimated from season 6 onwards. He becomes so dumb it’s unbelievable and it ruins one of the more fun characters.

And Roundabout and everything on the 1st 3 albums - mostly very catchy, often in a traditional way. The greatest band ever is subjective. I went to hs from a town on long island, massapequa ,from 72-76. Brian Setzer, Elliot Easton (the cars) to name a couple, came out of this town plus a bucket load of drummers, bass players who went on to professional careers. During that period it was "cool" to play an instrument. You could walk down any block and hear teenagers practicing their instruments. In the summer virttually every party, and there were lots of them back then, there would be live music. We were always learning new songs... Some guys became. Chet Atkins style finger pickers, a friend of mine was duane allman reincarnated, all the black blues players, clapton. Some guys could play jimmy page better than jimmy page. setzer was playing steely dan when he was about 11. We all knew each other and each's style rubbed off on you a little. for example, listen to Elliott eastern's work with the cars, you'll hear all the influences. Setzer could play anything, but it was the stray cats that took off, before that he was playing punk rock, and before that more traditional rock stuff. Ok... What does this have to do with the best rock band... There wasnt youtube back then. To learn a song youd slow the turntable down so it played an octive lower and/or record a song to cassette and rewind it 1,000 times. So...whats the point? Two words... Steve Howe. When The Yes album came out, all the guitar players went out and bought it. Everry one from the chet atkins guys to the clapton/allman guys to the jimmy page guys to the larry carlton steely dan guys. Then the bass players and drummers would hear it... Whos that bass player? Nobody sounds like that....Whos that drummer? Sent manny drummers home with the yes album to practice more. The work between bruford and squire is legendary but it was the way the songs were crafted where the bass and guitar were on equal footing. When we dissected these yes songs we were intrigued by their individual creativity. Steve Howe didnt need to be on volume 10 and the star of every song like all the other guitar players of that time. He basically passed off the "heaviness and grit" to the bass. That was unique. The bass player now had an arsenal of foot pedals. To play these songs we all had to become, good, REAL good. Couldnt hide the bass player. Drummer better have a real good feel for time. And where do you find someone who can do all the styles used by Steve Howe? A singer? Even a girl is gunna have a hard time hiiting some of the notes in heart of the sunrise. Does this make them the greatest band ever? I bet there are millions who would say the rolling stones. But yes was different. These guys could rock with the best of them and then turn on a dime in the same song and play something light as a feather as when the vocals come in on heart of the sunrise. Bruford said yes was a democracy, everything was up for debate. Not only were they virtuosos, but their compositional skills were of the first magnitude. Their vocal harmonies were also first class. They not only were groundbreaking the way they played but their whole approach to song structure and composition was unique. Listen to Howe on CTTE... Hes throwing in subtle jazz, chet atkins style licks all over the place while the bass growls and hits you in the face. From Fragile, Roundabout, howe plays simple harmonics while squires bass line dominates. Listen to howes work on heart of the sunrise, a track dominated by squire and bruford. There are sections where if your not listening for the guitar, youd wouldnt notice it, but it fit perfectly for the atmosphere of the song. Wakeman was the final piece to the puzzle. Not only did he bring all the new keyboard sounds with him but he was classically trained. When yes struggled to come up with pieces that would transition one section to another it was wakeman who knew how to do it in a musically sophisticated way. Greatest band? Thats debatable... But there is no doubt about their influence on the bands that followed like rush and kansas. Sorry rush fans, thats why yes is always one notch above rush - even the members of rush admit it. Members of kansas, including walsh, have admitted it. Dream theater too. The list is long.

Having virtuosic musicians matters way less than being influential. and cause influence is a spectrum, it doesn't balance stuff much there are other bands that'd do just as well if not better than yes, especially in progressive rock itself. and tbh, the list is fairly biased towards prog cause it hammers on uniqueness and talent which would apply to ever prog band of the 70s. ac/dc's 2 main vocalists CAN sing. I doubt anyone think bon Scott can't and as for Brian Johnson, there are clips of him singing with his clean voice for his previous band "geordie'. and he sings just as well as anyone else

    I might be the biggest Yes fan I know; I own the majority of their albums, have gone to one of their modern shows, and theirs is the music which I feel influenced my own tastes the most. However, I think your reasons for choosing a greatest possible band is somewhat misguided and based a lot on subjective criteria. I get that this was kind of just a thought experiment, but this is just a strange experiment to do. Why look for the greatest band of all time? In relation to what? For example, one of the criterion you chose to judge these bands on is virtuosity. This, of course, gives progressive bands an edge because they incorporate complex classical structures and techniques to their songwriting, which requires deft hands to do well. But why does that necessarily make them the best? Would you consider an Yngwie Malmsteen solo necessarily more valuable to a band than one by Andrew Latimer of Camel? Or consider those genres of rock that actively rebel against 'elitist' complexity and virtuosity in their work, like the Sex Pistols. Is their lack of virtuosity a negative in considering whether they were a great band? I'm not trying to pick a fight BTW, I'm happy Yes is getting recognized for their artistry in their work, but asking which band is the greatest is an empty question that doesn't bring about much useful information, because your criteria don't necessarily lead to the question you're asking. Something much more useful you could ask is "which band was the most influential in their respective genre?", which is even one of your criteria, where you said that Yes invented progressive rock. I don't think they did, because King Crimson's debut was certainly much more influential in starting the genre than Yes', and neither were the first prog album, but that's beside the point. Another more useful question could be "Which band is the most effective at using their genre's characteristics to create a song?", because then you can analyse music more objectively by identifying the specific techniques and how they contributed to the effect the song was going for. Anyway, interesting video. Cheers😊

    Obviously anyone would pick the Beatles as one of the contenders but how did you just pick Nirvana and Zeppelin as the others? Zeppelin didn't even write a huge portion of "their" songs. That alone is a reason not to include them. They are also NOT the reason for modern rock sounding the way it does, the Beatles are. Rush are way more influential than Nirvana not to mention they have both the greatest drummer and bass player in rock. Peart is also widely considered one of the greatest (if not the greatest) lyricist of all time. There isn't a rock band with better chops. So I can't take this video seriously when you chose poorly from the start. By the way, the Beatles ARE the greatest rock band ever. Too many reasons to list.

      To say Led Zeppelin isn't one of the greatest bands is lunacy. Musicians borrowing off of musicians means nothing. Even if they heavily took blues influence that meshed blues and rock together in the their own style. The band is made up of one of/if not the greatest guitarists of all time, one of/if not the greatest lead vocalist of all time, the greatest drummer of all time, and one of the greatest bassists of all time. They've influenced countless other bands often them. The are absolutely one of/if not the greatest bands ever. And to say Rush is better and more influential than Zeppelin is both comical and asinine.

      @Caganissoyeah Месяц назад

      @@iamza. @iamza. First off, reading something and UNDERSTANDING what you've just read are two different things. You did the first, not the second. I didn't say that Rush was MORE influential than Zeppelin. Where did I say that? Secondly, the better band is going to be subjective, just like singer, drummer etc. Thirdly, like ALL Zeppelin zealots you have a major problem understanding the difference between stealing and borrowing. Everybody borrows but when you take something someone else has written (music or lyrics) in it's EXACT FORM without giving credit, it's called STEALING! page and plant were the masters of that. Don't try and make it sound like they just took it and added their own thing to it, therfore, not a big deal. Get educated, then you might understand that Zeppelin are overrated. But I doubt you will. Too much concrete to get through!

      @@Caganissoyeah "rush are way more influential" your words. So yeah, pretty safe to say I'm easily understanding that. Are that dumb you don't even know what you're writing? But since all you do is ramble on and on about things that are just plain stupid and wrong, I'm guessing that answer is yes. You have no idea what you're saying. You're just typing a whole lot of nonsense trying to sound smart. Not working yo. Go and crawl back under your little rock and come back when you can finally sounds coherent. Mmmk?

    This is one of my top favorite movies ever - I've seen it a few times, but in this video you've showed a few things that I hadn't even noticed before, such as the detail of only the accusations being shown in Richard's trial, rather than any evidence to his innocence; that was a really smart move! And I had no idea that the train wreck was actually real, I'd assumed they used models! 20:24 - definitely one of the most impactful scenes of the movie. The characters' personalities and motivations are distilled, as well as the path that the plot will take after this, in only two lines. It also perfectly displays the power dynamic here; Richard is on the defensive (desperate only to prove his innocence, with nothing but that statement to back him up) while Gerard is on the offensive (it isn't his job to believe or disbelieve Richard, only to apprehend a criminal, and he has all the resources to do so). 24:10 - another one of my favorite scenes! I definitely saw it as Newman expressing his disagreement with Gerard's actions because it put him in danger, and Gerard's simple answer carries a lot of weight; he's establishing that he is going to take the most direct solution to a problem, even if it means taking a risk. He's also reminding Newman that he's in charge here, and he won't accept criticism for the way he's leading his team - but, although this could make Gerard come off as callous, his next action (giving Newman the blanket) shows that he's always got his teammates in mind. It shows that to be on Gerard's side is to be protected even though there's risk involved, but to be against him is deadly. The best thing about this movie, to me, is that no moment is wasted. Every shot and every line of dialogue has meaning, and that is conveyed perfectly by the actors and storytelling - and also, nothing is over-explained. The writers of this movie trust the audience to understand both the direct meaning of each scene as well as the subtext. Because nothing is over-explained, it also makes this movie so worth re-watching to find even more elements you might not have noticed before! You're really good at analyzing and critiquing films and pointing out details like this!

    I watched this movie with my family for the first time about a year ago. It is a MASTERPIECE. It is a smart movie about human nature that shows the unwavering determination of push vs pull, unstoppable force vs immovable object, Unstoppable force vs OTHER Unstoppable force. This movie will never get old because it will never FEEL old. There is nothing in it that relies on older technologies or methods. What it really boils down to is two kinds of people chasing something. One of them is chasing the truth, symbolizing something we can't see or touch, something beyond the physical world as we know it. The other is chasing a man, symbolizing the physical and earthly things that we CAN see, and we CAN touch.

      @@thecornerkid402 you are right. I think the main problem was that there were additional movies that played on similar premise and tropes. Some were good and some were mid. Honestly, as good as the movie is, it is a popcorn flick. You watch it once and you get everything you need from it. I have watched Parasite twice and could watch it a third or fourth time. Do people have to watch it? Maybe. It is a good movie and arguably played the tropes well for a movie of its time. The manhunt movie genre may not have the appeal that it needs to sustain audiences across generations. It doesn't help that it doesn't excel at any one genre. It isn't a good action movie, tho arguably it is. It isn't a good mystery movie. If it was an episode of a series then it would be brilliant. As a movie, I don't know. the manhunt genre may not be as die hard as fans like the other genres.
