    Do i have to have a surface beneath where I am drilling into when drilling acrylic? Or can the acrylic hang off of a surface and I drill from there without the wood underneath?

    • @ViceChief

      If you drill without a supporting surface underneath, it tends to crack around the hole as the drill breaks through.

    Did you have any other padding or mattress topper before getting the turbo nap? If you just compare comfort is this as good or better than mattresses like Hest , or Megamatt.

    • @ViceChief
      @ViceChief 3 месяца назад

      Before the TurboNap I have only used the original GFC mattress with custom super soft flannel covers. Although I repeatedly asked on instagram and the GFC forums, no one who owned a Hest or other padding would meet with me to make the comparison. So the video is basically about old GFC mattress VS GFC TurboNap.

    • @ViceChief
      @ViceChief 4 месяца назад

      You can defnitely drill acrylic nails since acrylic is just plsic, but usually they have a special rotary tool or use a Dremel tool. You don't need these giant tools, they make tiny drills for dremel tools and also "burrs" which are tiny grinding tools that can shape the nails.

    Sure does look comfy! That slap test was definitely hands down awesome...😂 Fit and finish looks top notch. So true about just making the move and upgrading. Other wise you end up with lots of bed pads... Wife picked up one of the REI Helix pads super nice but you still have to air it up. Then she picked up a Gialoop (memory foam pad) and she loves that. But heck, it's bigger than both our sleeping bags. At least I got the hand me down REI pad. Which rocks in the GFC making it easy to fold back because of the over all shape. Plus the R4.9 rating isn't bad for our winter camping on the East Coast. It sure would be nice not to have to carry 2 more things on each Adventure 😊 🛻+⛺️=🙂 Mark (& Teresa) Hampstead Maryland • Purpose Built Adventure Rig © • Ford Ranger FX4 - GFC Camper V2 #1919 • Kia Soulverlander •

      It's funny you say you end up with lots of aftermarket pads... because also when you buy the Turbo Nap you're left with your old covers and old foam! Feels like there has to be a smart way to reuse those somehow, tho I haven't thought of it. Your winter camping is definitely a level or two up from mine. I'm originally from North Dakota so I know what real cold is, and we basically don't get that out here on the West Coast. Seems like the less stuff the better and I'm always looking for things I can leave behind. My setup is pretty modest but even so there are still ways to reduce. Subscribed to your channel - pleased to meet ya and excited to see more GFC related content.

      @ViceChief LOL so true well said with the old bedding. We love the winter camping. Main to reasons or no people except those that are just as crazy as us or frineds...(East Coast has limited placed to camp and winter is the best time to grab them) Second reason No Bugs! I did want to tell you I found you from your comment on MAV_Adv Turbo review. I also wanted to let you know I like your video editing/story telling style. So different then everyone else these days. With that being said I sure hope you'll do more content. Also cool to see you have a GFC lock pin holder. I have to get back on the GFC forum. I was on the FB Owners group until some troll slammed me nonstop. So pulled the plug when no action was taken. Just don't have time for Brokenmen Syndrome. We sharing in all the joy and happiness. You can also buy acrylic bits that are already sharpened to this pointy tip. I find that you don't need a set since you are generally drilling only a few different sized holes in plastic. This is the same as buying left hand drill bits to remove broken screws, you only need a few sizes.

    • @ViceChief
      @ViceChief 5 месяцев назад

      I hear you. That's a lot of money no matter how you slice it. Got mine at the end of Jan BTW, ordered the year before. For what it's worth, I do product development for a living, and grew up sewing - if you add up the cost of foam, zippers, spray glue, webbing, thread, you'd be in for $300-400, especially using domestic materials. Then you gotta spend the time to sew it. Doesn't make the price any lower, I know. Like I said in the video, I'm looking at it as investing in better sleep. Only takes a few nights out before it's cheaper than any hotel room, with a much better view.

    • @JeffBromley
      @JeffBromley 5 месяцев назад

      I understand the costs and the declining value of money. I also understand the market for the upgrade, which is those of us who were unfortunate enough to be in the first gen of the mattresses. I’ve already spent significant money “upgrading” the sleeping arrangement in my GFC. I’m old and it had to be done after the first sleepless nights on the god awful original. One potential solution is a graduated pricing structure to help those of us who recently purchased our camper but apparently with growth comes new ethics as I’m seeing across the board with this company. With all that said, the new setup is an improvement that adds value to the GFC and they are a business not a charity. But it is in their best interests to take care of the customers to ensure future sales and company viability @@ViceChief

      @ViceChief 5 месяцев назад

      @@GarrettWatts I recommend joining the GFC forum - I posted quite a bit about color there in my (very long) build thread. Bottom line, the only thing I like about stone grey is that it's less "loud". I wanted something less conspicuous. If I could go back I would get the bright orange tent, because there's really no hiding a truck with a GFC on top, and the orange tent is bright and cheerful inside.

      Try increasing or reducing the pressure you are putting on the tension wrench. Can you feel the pins moving freely up and down, or do they feel very stuck? • @ViceChief
      @ViceChief Год назад

      Nah, you're right, some bypass methods don't involve tension because they directly release the part that holds the shackle in. To say it more accurately, "for single pin picking you won't be able to open the lock without turning the cylinder to bind the pins and actuate the mechanism". The reason I said it like that is because I've seen many beginners raking pins with a piece of wire or bobby pin, but not turning the cylinder, too. If they applied some rotation to the cylinder, they might have been successful.
