1970 Gibson SG Standard and a Dr Dan JTM50
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.6 лет назад
Just a few riffs with a 1970 SG Standard with original T-Top pickups into a Dr Dan JTM50 using Celestion G12-65's mic'd with a single SM57. I kick in the SoloDallas Storm at about a minute in. I don't understand why the video quality is so poor. Will be working on improving it in the future.
Dr Dan JTM50 Black Flag Replica Demo

This thing is a beast! Very different to a Superlead type circuit. Much warmer and fuller sounding. Dan is a great guy to deal with. I recommend checking him out on Facebook. The guitar is a 2006 SG Standard with a Manlius Vinyl pickup in the bridge (slightly hotter t-top replica). Celestion 25 Watt Greenbacks and a single SM57. A little post reverb has been added.

It's difficult to find a decent demo of this amp so I figured I'd do one. A straight out of the box demo into a Marshall 4x12 with 25 Watt Greenbacks. PPIMV was on 1 but even then still pretty loud. It's EXTREMELY powerful! The first guitar is a 2016 Gibson LP Traditional with Suhr Aldrich Pickups and the second is a Charvel So Cal with a Dimarzio Tone Zone. I also engage a bad monkey overdrive...
Messing Around With A Gibson Les Paul and a Yamaha THR10X

Just messing around (also making a lot of mistakes lol) and playing some riffs with a Gibson Les Paul and a Yamaha THR10x. I think I used the Brown II sound in case anyone is interested. See if you can name every riff I play.

Used a guitarless backing track I found on the internet. I did the lead and rhythm parts separately with 2 of my SG's. One is on the left side and the other is on the right side. The solo's were recorded separately and are mono. The video I recorded is not an actual take of the recorded sound because I decided to add it in later so it may not match up 100% in all parts but I put it in just for ...

Awesome job, man!
Sounds so good. Sheesh.
Man, that tone rips. Exactly what I am looking for. AC/DC with a little more gain. Thank you!
Amazing!
Spot on tone 🤘 love the colors. My strat is red black and gold. ♥️🖤💛 I'd love to get my hands on an obnoxiously sparkly gretsch 🌟✨ such beautiful guitars
Thank you! I foolishly sold this one haha.
Tone is awesome, I put a TV Jones powertron in my 5220 playing though a Brugera and am getting closer, great job.
Mighty fine and tone!!!!
Damn. You play well!
Sick!!! Perfect tone! And dead on! Great Job
Write a song about blowing dudes on the down low.
Hi! it always strikes me that you are using cables to join both channels when this amplifier already does it automatically. Is there a reason why you do it? I've had this amp for years and one of the videos that made me buy it was this one. Cheers! very good demo
Dan Tramble, Master Creator....Amp creator that is!
Woww!!
Good cover! the tone was like the original
Needs more we needs more !
The storm really does get it there pretty damn well
Very good! Accurate Malcolm part and played very well !
Niceeee
Great job..I can see why Mal and now Stevie hand the guitar tech half a pick after that finishing number..
Amazing tone.. I'm about to get one of these..
sounds killer! What song at 20s? thanks!
Thanks! Adam's Apple - Aerosmith
Dude you’re a fucking monster, hell yeah
Guy's got lighten'n fast fingers... shit was cool.
Very nice bro!!
This was volume on 1 ? How loud in the room was it ?
Thanks Dude! I really enjoyed this! Great job!
Are you patching the 2 and 3 inputs together for the brown sound?
Great tone and playing ,...what kind of transformers are in this amp ?
Little late to this thread but great playing.. yes this JTM50 transitional year is a bit warmer than the plexi.. and different to the JTM45.. but nails ACDC vibe.. I know they used various amps in studio vs live sometimes.. but mainly JTM45, JTM50, 1959 and even some 2203 for good measure at times.. but this JTM50 covers them all nicely.. would you say it has more gain that the JTM45? pickup sounds great btw.. T-Tops are great pups.. I discovered Vineham and put a set of 6070's in one of my old SG's.. sounds fantastic with clarity and drive.. but when it comes to vintage vibe amps.. which one to pick.. I usiually want enough gain in the amp to roll it back if necessary.. but some of these older amps just had more Mojo..ughh.. Dr Dan is a genius and makes them at playable volumes..
Hey Tyler, can you please send your guitar rig preset for this sound?
Please make shoot to thrill or if you want blood you've got it cover with this sound
You have the real sound...!! please give me the specs?? Amp and gain Level? Do you play a 6131? Buddy you are the only one who get the Original donnington sound from Malcolm.
Thanks buddy. No real amp here, this was done with a preset I made with guitar rig 5.
@@rocknrollresignation93 whtfck? Thats the real Malcolm Young sound
Dan is a nice guy and makes some great amps
The master volume knob in the back....is it turned on or off? If so, what level so you have it set to?
Great cover, well played and that Gretsch looks and sounds great 👍.
what model/year is the Marshall cabinet ?
It’s a fairly recent 1960AX with the stock greenbacks
Great tone ! Which solo Dallas was that ?
How is the BLACK FLAG circuit, tubes etc... different from a ‘68 JMP 50 1987 Lead circuit?
JTM50s run EL34s like the later JMP 50s, the early ones still have tube rectifiers like the older JTM45s but the later ones are solid state rectified. The JTM50s use a JTM45-type tone stack and a shared cathode as opposed to the JMP split cathode. This makes JTM50 amps less aggressive and less mid-rangey than the later JMP 50 circuits
ROCK AND ROLL. That thing sounds like some good and loud fun.
I have the same rig, badass bro \m/
Daamn your vibrato is killer man! :D Great job!
I have one. Bought it when I was 16. I'm 66 years old now. Still the best.
Sounds great for such an affordable amp!
Hell yes dude.
Nice demo! What song is that riff from @1:20?
Thanks. Whitesnake - Slide it In
Tyler Stelluti I heard it before, couldn’t remember! I was thinking Trapeze, I was kinda close since the guitarist used to be in that band!
Tyler Stelluti also, do you still have this amp and how is it holding up? Thx
So without the attenuator and just using the master, how does it sound? Does the attenuator suck any tone? Allot of reports that it does with this amp.
Mine doesn't appear to suck any tone when engaged vs. disengaged.
@@DroneShotFPV finally got one and I will say it slightly is more fizzy when engaged...even on "10" vs bypassed. Bypassed and everything dimed this amp sings! Loud as a motherfucker though
@@levijessegonzalez3629 For sure about being LOUD as hell! lol It's crazy loud. I didn't notice the fizzy sound when engaged, but if I am completely honest, it probably had more to do with the levels I was using it at. I will test again this weekend, as I am now curious! lol Glad that you like yours!
😍👍👍
Were you using a pedal in that video?
Excellent. This songs needs to be played on the SG, like Frank Hannon does....
Hey man, do you know which pickups are in your Gretsch? Tv Jones classics?
