SR-71A Blackbird #61-7960 2024 Castle Air Base California
My wife and I drove to California last month. Near the end of our second day we made it to Castle Air Base with an hour left of the museum open. They were having their annual spring car show and the place was packed. When we arrived we found the entire property covered in cars. The grass around the SR71 was a parking lot. We found an empty spot about 20 feet away from the cockpit and began the walking tour. The car show was packing up but many cars were still there. The show cars park amongst the show planes. This is a large event.
After touring the museum, we spent the last few minutes with the Blackbird. She parks outside only 150 feet from a busy road. This one is one of the high milers...

Silverado Rear Sliding Window Leak Repair Fix 2019 2020 2021 2022
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.4 месяца назад
Our Silverado electric sliding rear window is leaking! Let's take it apart and fix it. This upgrade is required on all GMC and Chevrolet pickups from 2019 to 2024. The frame of the entire window captures water along its top edge and the center plastic has a join or a crack. Water will enter here and run down the inside of the sliding window. Next it runs behind the plastic panel and over the po...

Mark 14 Torpedo US NAVY Ordinance - Two Years of Operational Failures

The Mark 14 was the torpedo that the US NAVY used throughout the second world war and beyond. It was designed in the 1930's and its initial deployment was not very successful. It had several severe flaws that were not discovered until 1942. Its early use in WW2 was a disaster with most torpedos missing their targets or hitting the target and not exploding. Brings back nice memories, and some bad ones. The building you went into was and maybe still is called the LERC (Lockheed Employee Recreation Center) it housed a gift shop, a couple of meeting rooms for visitors that could not be cleared to go into the plant, and the LFCU (Lockheed Federal Credit Union). The store hasn't changed much, but the counter used to be directly to your left when you entered that door. We used to buy discount tickets for Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and other places there. There also was a very simple file holder that held information and discounts for buying new cars. We bought our first new car using the dealership and sales connection that Lockheed set up. Worked with the best engineers in the world at that time, great to be part of the team. And yes, in those buildings some very special aircraft were built, yes indeed.

    Careful everyone, depending on the mountain air current flow, sometimes the adit that goes way back becomes a dead air zone. (No oxygen) You’ll notice yourself getting tired, and getting winded just talking. Sometimes you won’t notice .

      And the cheapest oxygen meter is a Bic lighter. Stop and flick your Bic every 50 feet. If the flame is full size you are ok. When the flame starts getting smaller - the oxygen count is dropping. This particular mine has many adits going into it at many levels on the hillside. It also has huge open stopes to the valley. Tons of airflow. The lower levels would probably be different but they are flooded. Pretty much all mines that go down in BC are flooded.

The Stuka model with 2 guns slung under the wings was his favorite weapon - the thinnest armoured on tanks is the upper panels etc enginedeck and turret rof and that made the 37mm guns effective and Rudel killed over 500 russian tanks in varios theathers of the war , and Rudel survived the war surrendering to the americans . • @ontheroadwithnorm2023
      @ontheroadwithnorm2023 3 месяца назад

      I felt that the bead I did went right to the top of the glass. Interesting thing has been happening is the type of silicone we used is leaching some weird film over the glass. it's a mess. Something tells me I'll be doing this again. I feel the dozen bolt holes through the roof are also potentially leaking.

    So I have a strong feeling that the dozen holes and bolts through the spoiler are going to start leaking again. Next time I find a leak back here I'm going to super clean all the holes in the roof with lacquer thinner then put a healthy ring of 100% outdoor silicone around each hole and bolt. Not a great design. Aluminum cab. Why didn't they make tabs that stick out for the spoiler to attach too? Instead they make holes all the way across. Bad design. Going to be lots of mouldy old chevys out there I hate to say.

    Nice video man. I have a 2020 2500hd that started leaking 1 year into owning it. Dealership replaced the window 2 times and resealed it 3 times. Still leaks. Now out of 3yr warranty and trying to put it on me. Dealing with GM corporate to try and get them to make them fix it. Local glass shops around me don’t want to touch it since they know it’s a manufactures issue and haven’t found a fix. They will replace the window and seal it but will not warranty their work that the slider won’t leak again. Big headache!!!

    • @ontheroadwithnorm2023
      @ontheroadwithnorm2023 3 месяца назад

      That is horrible news. It's a dumb design. They've got over a dozen holes in the spoiler for all the fasteners. Impossible not to leak. Next time I have mine apart I will super clean all the holes with lacquer thinner then silicone every hole and bolt.

    • @ryanpowers4908
      @ryanpowers4908 3 месяца назад

      It’s a pain the ass for sure. My solution is put the solid back window on there if it’s the sliding rail that cracks a leaks. But they can’t seem to tell me if the solid back window and window with the slider are the same dimensions. So fingers crossed GM corp can answer that question. The small slider is pointless in my opinion so just eliminate it if that’s a weak point in the design.

    • @ontheroadwithnorm2023

      I think the worst part of the design is the dozen holes that the spoiler bolts go through. A roof with tons of holes in it. What could go wrong? How hard would it be to design this with tabs sticking up instead of bolts going though holes?

If i had to place a better I say way is also getting in through the holes for the bolts that hold the 3rd break light spoiler. Im going to be sealing the entire outer perimeter of the spoiler with silicone to test out the theory. Also. The shark fin antenna also lets in water . Ill be silicone that always. 3rd i just found out recently that the black weather trims piece of the sides of the roof also leak on the new 2024 silverados dude to the weak metal underneath separating and creating a hairline crack. wondwr if that is also possible for the 2019- 2023 models . I found water coming down the sides aswell as from ybe front and the back. Smh GM really dropped the ball eith these trucks I tell you.

      There are none. This one was supposed to but after spending millions this benefactor passed away and the new one has not declared his intentions. It looks to be about 2000 hours to go to finish it. Additionally this project contains a massive collection of data on the aircraft type. The really good news is another JU87 looks like it will start a reconstruction restoration soon with the intention to fly. The foundation behind it virtually guaranties it will fly in about five years.

      @@cyborghunter-t8007 When the project is finished, it is very likely that it will remain at the museum and only fly there. This was how Paul Allen's museum operated for the very rare aircraft, which makes sense because those planes are rare and were very expensive to restore and maintain. The museum only put a few hours on them every season. I would never expect the Fw-190 or Stuka to make any cross-country fights, but perhaps by road transport if needed.

It still has not flown and they sent the BMW engine back for more work. If the Fw-190 only makes a few flights and retires to their museum in Stow, MA then their new Stuka may be parked there too.

      Yes it can fly. It was rebuilt to much better than new. However the owner passed in 2019 and all flying activities were frozen. The estate sold the museum in 2022 and the new owned has not issued a statement of his intentions. Most people think the collection is heading to Arkansa in the next few years. This building is full of priceless WW2 aircraft. Some have had what is called a data plate rebuild or reconstruction restoration. This is where you make entirely new pieces of the entire airplane. Built without wartime conditions, no time constraints, better tools, and better labour. The result is stunning. They have a brand new Stuka. ruclips.net/video/2tMndz-pv3M/видео.html

      @@ontheroadwithnorm2023 I do not think the D-13 is actually flyable without additional work. Doug Champlin had it restored again in Arizona but I don't think the engine was given the required tear-down and rigorous inspection and testing to be flight certified. It is an enormously expensive process to inspect, repair, test and calibrate all of the components on the engine. The engine shop in California is building another Jumo 213 for another client and they have been working on it for years, and are still waiting on parts and the new prop and hub before it can properly tested.
