    Cap, I tried this "Go To" and "Engage" on my new Garmin... the boat turned Hard Left, very hard left and the boat traveled to the Magenta line, but, bypassed the line, kinda straightened out and the started following the magenta line but to the left of the line... the Magenta line was in the center of the river channel I was in... and the boat was left of the magenta line and in the way of the upriver oncoming traffic so I had to stop the Auto Pilot feature... Is there a trick to turning less sharply onto the Majenta line? Many thanks... I love your videos as you take the time to explain to newbies like me... and the other Garmin how-to videos online do not. Great work.

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing 6 дней назад

      so there are a couple things here. the magenta line will be created the second that you engage the auto pilot but the boat wont necessarily navigate down the magenta line. you might have a better chance of steering the boat on the magenta line than the GPS but you would literally have to be facing the perfect direction that you needed to go. the GPS will automatically create a second line which is black that goes from the bow of the boat icon to the destination that you want to travel to. think of the magenta line as a line from the moment you set the autopilot to your destination. if you were traveling in an area with no wind, light current and no waves it might travel close to it but so many factors will push your boat around while you are navigating and it wont stay perfectly on the line. the other thing with the auto pilot is that it has no idea if there is on-coming boat traffic or if you need to navigate within a channel to your starboard side. it is just going to navigate towards the destination which could make it dangerous to use in channels or in heavy boat traffic. think of it like cruise control on your car. it is just going to keep you going to where you selected. Now there is a function called auto guidance that will navigate the boat through the safest path based on the depth of water for your boat. This will turn the boat and make sure you don't run aground based on water depth but they still don't have a system that can go around boat traffic. you still have to be monitoring all of your surroundings with the auto pilot to ensure safety. If you want to check out the video for the auto guidance, the link is below. ruclips.net/video/IY4ZjB0VVEk/видео.htmlsi=fU101eKvqPC1MNeN Sorry for the long response, hope it answers your question. That is a very good point. I do know that you can add subtitles in different languages because many of my instructional videos have been viewed all over the world in different subtitles. RUclips shows me that info for every video but I do agree, my people could really benefit from this. I made the boating 101 series to really help the people because there are so many accidents that can all be avoided with proper knowledge. I still have a bunch of videos that I’m working on for this series to really help bring boating safety awareness to boaters. We have had tragic accidents here in south Florida, even involving children who got seriously hurt or lost their life for things that could all have been avoided. It’s so sad to see that. Thanks for the support!

      Thank You! We always try to show the viewers how it actually is. The fishing shows only show you constant action and then people think you just go out to the ocean and the fish are jumping int he boat. There are days that are on fire but not everyday are the fish just waiting for you out there, especially when you are sword fishing. that is the ultimate hunt for that fish. This particular day was a bummer though. We really thought we could get one and be back early for the football game with dinner! Some days are like this, we have had other days where we get a sword fish or two and are back before lunch. Next time for sure! thanks for watching and thanks for the support!

Tambioen tienes que marcar la trampa con tu nombre y tu numero de licencia. y en la bolla tienes que ponerle una "R" para recreational. Para que no tengas problema, mira el video y dehame saber si tienes otras preguntas. lo ultimo que quirese es salir y tener multas grandes por un error. Tienes tiempo esta semana a comprar cualquir cose que te haga falta.

      Gracias por el apoyo al canal. Los tag verde no se pueden comprar por decir. Esos tag son commercial. De la única manera que los puedes comprar sería teniendo una licencia de pesca commercial y después comprar los tags de un pescador que los esté vendiendo. Después que se haga el paperwork a Tallahassee Los tags quedan a nombre tuyo. Si estás usando las 5 traps como recreational, no tienes que tener esos tags pero si tienes que tener una licencia de pesca con el endorsement de cangrejo. Yo tengo este video que te enseña los pasos. Tienes tiempo, el primer día de tirar las trampas al mar es el día 5 de octubre. I’m going to be a deckhand for my first season. We are dropping traps in a week as well. Out of tarpon springs. Any tips on gear I should have and things to do to not look like a dumb ass? Any recommendations on boots and oilskins ?

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing 15 дней назад

      Setting the traps is an exciting time because it’s a fresh start to the season. It’s a lot of work because most boats do multiple trips a day to get the traps out fast. You really won’t need any gear but you probably will want to get a pair of grundens so you don’t get blood all over your clothes from the pigs feet. The pigs feet are used for bait along with cowhide and fish heads. Having said that, you also want to have a pair of gloves! The bait is a stinky process but that’s what gets the crabs in the trap.

  • @spankee2k
    @spankee2k 16 дней назад

    When doing the 1 and 1/2 turns, how fast are you going? When I do mine I just put it into idle speed with the wheel turned all the way to one side until it completes the test. Is that sufficient or should I be going faster?

    Hi captain Pedro I’m trying to trouble shoot my new installed autopilot. My magnetic environment is 255 Spin quality 255… way above 100% Something not right…. My CCU is brand new and no interference anywhere. I moved it to multiple locations and still got the same numbers. Could there be a problem with my garmin ghc 20? I purchased it used. Thanks Paul

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing 16 дней назад

      The magnetic interference can’t go over 100%. The magnetic interference will start at 100% and go down from there. 100% would be in a perfect environment without any magnetic interference but every boat has some level of interference because they have metal objects, batteries and electronics that interfere with the compass. When I moved mine, I tried two spots before I landed on the one I kept and each time I received a different reading of interference. I can tell you that if it is bad, the auto pilot will not perform correctly. I had one go bad and the auto pilot would not steer my boat towards the starboard side. You can try to set it all up and see how it performs when you complete the sea trial set up for the auto pilot. I made another video showing the steps of that sea trial. • @KM.130
    @KM.130 17 дней назад

    Neat video. That’s a ton of work! Are you allowed to attach anything brightly colored atop your painted buoys to make them more visible? (Such as reflective tape or bright ribbon.) And, if you ever get a spare moment could do those knots once again, step by step, on a video?

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing 17 дней назад

      You can paint the buoys whatever color you want as long as you register that color with the state. Then when the season starts you will see that the boats have placards with your license number (which is engraved into each buoy) and the color of your buoy. This is also on the top of the boat so when they fly the planes they can tell if you are pulling the traps that belong to you. Everyone marks each trap though into the GPS so you know exactly where they are. We are getting ready to drop all of them in a week and I will record it so everyone can see how the entire process works. Then it’s 6 months of the crab season and I will try to record as much as possible. The weather gets nasty here in the winter and the saltwater and my camera and mics don’t really work well together!

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing 16 дней назад

      I added the request to make a video of the knots to my recording schedule. As soon as I drop the traps in the water I need to make replacement traps and when I make them, I will make a video showing the knots for the trap and the buoy close up and slowly and I will post it. Are you allowed to drop recreational traps for crab or lobster up there?

    • @KM.130
      @KM.130 16 дней назад

      You can use up to two crab pots or trot lines recreationally and harvest allowance is one bushel per day. A permit must be purchased. Pots need to have buoys and tags with your permit number. Use of collapsible traps or hand linerequires no permit.

      @carsonrogers8607 that is 100% correct. In this particular case that I think you are referring to, the fish was swimming at a bad angle to the bow and I had to adjust the boat. I never like to have the line slack either but it can be a little challenging when you have to work the reel and drive.

    I haved a question. I have 1243's. My friend tells me that when you see a spot on the garmin that you want to mark and it has moved from under the boat but still on the screen, you can take your finger and "back up" the screen and mark that spot. How do you do that? THX Great video again!

      i am not familiar with the 1243 but i would imagine it works the same as with my 7612's. what i do is swipe the sonar screen backwards to go back to what was already scrolled and you can see what you already passed. you can also create a waypoint from this also. then when you are ready, you can press the play button for the sonar to resume. Great Question!

      Im very happy to hear that it has been helpful to you and so many other viewers that have written me. This series took me almost 9 months to complete and I created this content because when I took my online classes for my license it was very confusing on some of the international rules and I couldn’t find anything on RUclips to help me. This video is all of the separate videos into one but if you want to watch them one by one as you are studying, they are all separated individually by rule on my channel in a playlist. Below is the link to that playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLyBi_6HF-i1fIvcfzDsD5mHEJ8PE_bnjC&si=WKcThM490k1xMYyc As far as the discount for military and law enforcement, I don’t have one but that is a great idea. I can’t believe I have never thought about that. I have a lot of family in law enforcement and my oldest son is enlisted in the army. I would need to see how I can add that into the site during the booking process. Good Luck on your 6-pack license!

      When I took mine I wish I had something like this. It was very difficult to understand a lot of what the rules where saying. That’s why I decided to make the series for each rule. I made a single video for each one and then this long one which is a combination of all the videos in order. I’m thinking of doing a video for paper chart navigating in the future. Good luck on your captains license!

    does tha polish take care of rust stains?

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      Yes it does. If the rust stains are very severe, I would recommend using the Starbrite rust remover. We made a quick video showing the results of that spray in time lapse and it makes the stains disappear. Is the buoy bait fished shallower than the tip rod bait? If so by how much? If tip rod bait is at 1500' should buoy be at 1200-1400? Thanks

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      You really want to fish it at a different depth so that you can target fish in a different part of the water column. If they were both at the same depth, the buoy rod and the tip rod are targeting the same fish. There really isn’t a magic number of how many more feet off the bottom you should fish the buoy rod but, I myself like to fish the buoy rod anywhere from 200-400 feet off the bottom.

    So you keep showing the CCU not the heading sensor. So which are you moving. My heading sensor is a white puck. You must be moving the CCU?

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      The CCU and the heading sensor are the same thing. In the video, the diagnostic check shows the magnetic interference for the CCU which is the heading sensor. Then if the score is low, that’s what you want to move to a new location. I’m not familiar with the white puck, the ones that I have seen and have on my boat are either gray or black and have two plugs on it. One plug should be NEMA 2000 and the other plug goes to the ECU which is like the brain for the auto pilot. The ECU is what received the heading reading from the CCU and sends the signal to the auto pilot pump to steer the boat.

      @@pescatarianfishing I'm gonna do some reading on this. I was told to add a secondary heading sensor up top. I have the Garmin 24XD and was mounting it up top in the cabinet

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      I never heard about adding a second señor but it could work. I just know that I was struggling for almost 6 months with my auto pilot and no one could figure it out and in one of my many calls to Garmin one of the guys is the one that told me about this check. Once I did it and moved the sensor and completed the sea trial it worked perfectly and I haven’t had another issue with it since. I know it’s a very frustrating situation to be in.

      @@pescatarianfishing the 24xd hooks to the nema system. If you go into your 7612 it says how far off course you are. Usually if you're just using the 7612 gps it's up to 40ft. Hook why XD up and it's down to 3 and 4ft. There are videos of it on here. Give it a look. Maybe it will give you a more precious location 🤷🏼

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      The actual location of the boat is calculated by the satellites in space but yes, if the heading sensor will get a more accurate heading, that would be great. Especially for long range use. I hardly ever navigate with auto pilot but I do use it a lot when I’m trolling and sword fishing. I will check it out. Thanks!

    Just took delivery of my boat yesterday, 2021 8600 series in it. I can only see clear vu and side view sonar, can’t get the traditional screen. I’ve gone through all the menus and can’t figure it out. Can anyone help?

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing Месяц назад

      Are you sure that you have more than one transducer installed on your boat? If you cannot see it on your menu it could mean that you do not have another one installed or that there might be an issue and it is not picking it up

      I have a GT35 or GTM35 on my boat which has clear Vu and side view but not traditional. I’m not familiar with the transducer that you have on yours. I don’t really use that transducer on my boat. I installed it so that I could read water temperature because I have an in hull transducer and it cannot read water temperature since it sits inside the boat and doesn’t physically touch the water.
