At the end of the video, whiles fighting some jack crevalle, you get a much better understanding of how well made, precise, and no to mention ridiculously smooth this reel is.

Whiles walking about at night in the Florida Keys I stumble upon a vibrant Caribbean Reef Octopus who at the time seemed like it bit off more than it could chew. I have used that exact rod for twitching jigs and have landed probably 50 + coho salmon. Probably a little light, but it is a performer. Yes. It is a beautiful rod and very affordable.

The Saltist mq is the mq version of the back bay. Also, the BG MQ is the same price point as the back bay but no mag-seal but the mq design has very limited entry points for water and the couple entry points it does have are sealed with orings or a similar rubber seal; ie: the drag knob, handle screws, and whole side plate. I’d go as far as saying a non-mag-sealed mq model like the Procyon mq, BG mq, or Tatula mq will hold up better/longer than a non-mq mag-sealed real such as the Fuego or even this Saltist and I honestly love the Saltist and newer 23 Fuego

@@nategustafson1588 for the salt water fishing even fresh water here in southern california gear ratio below 6.2: 1 is better, plus backbay drag sound sounds like an 8000 certateor saragosa. I prefer ballistic over tatula , Caldia over BGmQ. Kayak finish or sea def Higher ratio.Daiwa australia ,daiwa euro have an eaual to the blackbay in an Mq version.

@@marceloamador92024 I deal with very similar conditions living on the coast in FL and have had zero corrosion problems or grinding/sticking on my mq reels but I have had two reels seize up because of the mag-seal breaking down after heavy use despite proper rinsing, care, and service. As for the gear ratio, all the models I listed come in a 6:2:1 ratio or have enough ipt to not hinder the ability to rip a solid snook, redfish, or even smaller tarpon out from under docks or deep mangroves. I and most others would prefer a lower gear ratio to have more torque when fighting the fish listed above (as long as the ipt is over 30”). As for the Euro models, there are definitely some excellent options that are perfect for our conditions. I’ve had both a freams and a Caldia. The freams is basically a different colored Fuego and will flex under load like the 21 Fuego. However, the Caldia is a heck of a reel, especially when they were priced around $100 on eBay and Amazon. As for the back bay, I do love the reel but hate how little line it holds. I have almost got spooled a few times on the 3000 from a juvenile tarpon in a bay and two different bull reds on open flats.

Does your handle buttons rly hard to snap properly???? Mine is just weird, like the button bottom or tops are off just a bit.
