1gd timing chains are absolutely disgusting. I think I’ve replaced three engines now in six months for the same problem.

I havnt heard of any other diesel engine or car make that takes water and not breaks. Petrol engines i heard many times take water remove spark plugs , crank them and then go

i fixed my 200 series dusting issues--- i bought a y62 patrol--- problem solved and has been faultless

Cylindrical air filters are a better design and have a greater surface area. Toyota going to the V8 introduced so many design bugs. The 100/105 series six cylinder diesels were less troublesome and very reliable. Cheers

Also your video isnt complete, I'm assuming you start to warn against pressure testing the cooling system to find the leak as it could force coolant into the intake where it could hydraulic lock the engine and bend a rod?

Hey mate, just a clarification, the A/C condenser is in front of the radiator, so radiator/engine temp does not affect the cooling ability and pressure in the A/C system. The reason it cuts out is due to the ecu having a pre set temperature threshold, once head temperature reaches that, it will cut the ac compressor to help engine cooling in the event of an overheat.

Spot on Peter, you got to look at the big picture. Having an issue right now with the 1VD, pinging under load, just trying to identify which cylinder and what it might be, cars got 41k kms on it, had been on it side in a ditch, oil in exhaust which we cleaned up, initially had misfire and rough idle codes which have now cleared up, any help is appreciated ty

Hi Peter, I have a 1VD-FTV in a 76 series that has a pinging sound during acceleration when you change up gears, the car has only 41k on it. Could it be a faulty injector?
