Since 2016 and at August 2023 when I uploaded this video the bridge over the yard is not open. There are gates either side, one lets in workers and cars to go to the South building. On the other side nothing let in, not even a pedestrian. Because the weight of a human on a bicycle would cause immediate collapse of the bridge according to the experts. Repairs are reported in the press to plan to...

Finally got some legible captions. Does anybody have the information sheet for First Generation Diesels Volume 2? Some previous comments: 1. The RSD-13 is actually a RSD-15. 2. The LP was probably recorded between 1959 and 1972. 3. The Whitcomb 0-4-0 is preserved. 4. Thanks to those who contributed photos where none was on the album cover.

And I spot myself as a 14 year old beside deltic with camera strapped to me!!!
162mph..... Wew. It's criminal that they were never allowed to go faster than 125 in service.
Coolt 👍🏻
I used to live near between Portsmouth and Copy Pit Summit and watched the trains from the back garden. Your film of the banking engines really took me back. A real memory.
THANK YOU. I was born 12 years before the end of (standard guage) steam on BR, and travelled regularly on the ex-Midland line through the Peak District from Derby Midland to Manchester Central (now the G-Mex exhibition centre). I love the sound of steam on the railways.
I also took part in 2 working parties to Barry scrapyard to look for potential loco's to rescue for the then fledgeling Midland Railway Project Group (now the preserved "Midland Railway" line in Derbyshire.
Man those far off hooters are beautifully creepy sounding at night

Here from Shang-A-Lang Series 1 Episode 1 with Bay City Rollers.
I didn’t know this documentary existed. Thank you for posting it on you tube.
Such a pity most of these trains no longer carry cars, the Dusseldorf to Wien service was so useful for me, it was generally cheaper to take the train than to pay for fuel and an overnight stay, not to mention the time saving and lack of wear and tear on the car. I understand the reason for ending car transport from Dusseldorf is that the OEBB sleeper service was extended to Brussels so it would no longer call at Dusseldorf. After the Wien service ended you could still travel to Innsbruck but then even that was canned due to the reason above.
Modelled history.
Talk about bygone eras. No one makes documentaries quite like this anymore.
Does anyone know what the current modelling scene is for this era? Can anyone identify any books that cover tyhis era of the railways, obviously difficult as a lot of it was pre photography?
My grandmother's 2nd husband was a pipe fitter in the Roanoke Locomotive shops from '46-'65.
Just found this 😊I had a loads of the these tapes back in the good old days they were very good great sounds just close my eyes and I'm there 😊
Its cool to see another engine using the tracks, im from keith and ive never seen the line used for anything other than the Keith and Dufftown railway. The keith station looks a lot different to how it does now
Awesome video! I’m the guy you met on the Aberdeen Waterloo branch once, waiting for the freight train.
Oh yeah at Nelson Street, yes I was there the other day and a whole crowd stopped to watch a 70 blasting past.
It turned out that freight train had already passed, so after about 20 minutes I ran to see it leaving Kittybrewster.
Priceless recordings! Thank You!!!!
Bought this , got to be late 70's early 80's ? First time I've heard it for over 40 years I think , brilliant !
Wonderful video, a real train fest. I like those red DB loco.s, a lot of them will be in the scrap yard now.
Loved every second 👍
Hornby hm7000 chip ?
Hornby TTS. The next one I am doing will have an HM7000, the size is the same. Anyone tried to get an HM7000 Next18 in a Dapol 59?
Nice birthday present for the wife 😆
Love Blue Ridge
Great explanation. I just bought a N gauge Dapol 2D-007-014 - Class 66 66780 GBRF Cemex. I run it on Kato Unitrack and it constantly derails at the points and slips on inclines. None of my other trains have this issue. I also noticed that the front wheels lift when transitioning from an incline to a flat which causes the front wheels to lift of the rails and derail when it comes across the next point. It hardly pulls anything as well compared to even my tiny Fleischmann v60 so i am looking to put traction tyres to the outside wheels in an attempt to make the wheel radius bigger so it stays on the tracks and increase traction on inclines. Quite disappointed with Dapol for producing a product that doesnt work well.
That model has got the good bogies. Check each axle under a magnifying glass that the wheel is perfectly level with axle end.
mega ❤
Thanks for the upload. I traveled this line for years. Class 51 & 59 to Aachen West, loved it. I also drove 55 TVM but only to Montzen. I remember well the engineering works in the Gemmenicher tunnel to add the third (middle) track to allow high loads like het huckepack trains.
Class 59 Baldwin I would love to see old footage of that!
Brilliant
Wow , I bought this from York Railway museum while I was still at school, not heard it for over 40 years. Thanks for posting it
I remember listening to my dsds copy growing up in the 80s/90s. How differnt the ,Westerns sounded (& the Hymek). Wish they would diigitally remaster and release it on cd.
The recording from IC tower is my favorite part. There is not to much film footage or audio recordings in Mendota. I work at the railroad museum in Mendota which has an HO scale replica of the Mendota train yards as they looked in the late 30-early 40s.
For anyone wondering there is a museum in Roanoke,Virginia and has pretty much everything Link took a photo of.
Fantastic. I used to love walking to the railway bridge and seeing the 37 haul the freight trains to the Isle of Grain. I love Insch, stunning up there. My nanna used to own the Mill of Bonnyton which had a very old railway carriage in the yard as a shed, it had the names of soldiers from the war (not sure which one) carved in the wood in the guards compartment. Miss that place, had some special memories there. Lovely scenery. 👍
I live in the next village to Bonnyton so I am going to look for that coach!
The old LNER tender runs well
This layout has got to be one of the funnest looking ones to operate and build I’ve ever seen. I hope wherever it is it’s being taken care if.
Awesome.
Outstanding skill .
Saludos a todos desde Texcoco Estado de México mis papás me llevaron en ese tren en 1980 y quiero regresar con mi hijos😢❤😂
So many memories in one video ! 4:33 37 406 "The Saltaire Society" was my longest cabride: from Edinburgh to Fort William at the request of First ScotRail to undertake an assessment of the Deerstalker sleeper prior to the then introduction of the Class 67 on the route. 9:13. 47 019 was not my first loco, but my first loco I recorded for haulage. Working from Gidea Park to Kensington Olympia on Eastern Region Merrymaker No 30 which started at Shenfield, and 47 519 took over for the run to Newton Abbot and back, outward via Bath Spa and returning via Bristol Parkway. 11:30. March East Signalbox. I have worked that signalbox ! And I have also done the Y junction at March West to Wisbech on a passenger train.
Brilliant more please
Absolutely brilliant
Lovely locos 33 and 73
Amazing train lovely Scotland
O.W.L. worked hard to preserve what America was before our gov. became overtly corrupt. Why does NO ONE tell us the U.S. gov. passed tax laws that mandated the railroads buy diesel locomotives? (General Motors lobbied/ paid the gov to pass this legislation) hmm? The U.S. gov. has created EVERY problem America has today.. IF YOU can name 1 problem America has that is NOT CAUSED BY OUR GOV. Please post it here. R.I.P. O.W.L. Too bad we can not get together on 12/16 ( his birthday) every yr. to honor him.
You've brought back happy memories of my time at Gateshead MPD as an electrician (898) on Ray Fender's shift. Perhaps we even met? Have a great new year, and keep the old 52A as the best, 2451- I remember as the D foremans number (gone but not forgotten)!
I do hope this layout has been saved for posterity. It's a work of art, of that I have no doubt. The ultimate in scratch building, surely.
Sulzer
Those recordings from the line through Green Cove are very beautifully haunting.. wish that line was still in place
British rail
Gorgeous! I live near Kyle and when I was wee it was always Class 37s or 40s that ran between there and Inverness. The noise and the diesel smell of them is something I still love. Great catch….id give my right tit to see that in action. My husband worked on a farm over near Huntly and played for the rugby team back in the 90s.
