Is doing Amazon FLEX UK as a side hustle worth it in 2024? (3 hour block)
Here is a video from a 3 hour block I picked up not too long ago.
Obviously everyone's experiences are different with Amazon FLEX.
This particular block happened to be quite a nice one.
In my opinion, doing Amazon FLEX is only worth it if you live quite close to your local depot and you have an economical car.

How many parcels are delivered in 3.5hours?
Can depend. All comes down to how far they send you. For example, somewhere close by is usually around 35-40 parcels. Medium distance is about 20-25. I’ve done a 3.5 hour one before where i had 4 parcels but travelled about 60 miles away
@@tommywills thanks mate 👊
When u showed ur phone screen, Noticed something that make me smile, May god protect u brother.
Alhamdullilah thank you brother
I started last week, ive only been doing Amazon Fresh, works out better. Less drop offs.
Only done a few, found its less drop offs but more driving (in my area anyway)
@tommywills the one I go from in London is decent, hardly any miles driven. About 10 miles total. I had one with 1 drop off today and it was literally next to my house. Only issue with fresh is, people load of cases of water. Can be an issue with dropping off to blocks of flats. I gues it helps me keep fit so I dont mind.
You also need to factor in wear and tear of the car - so mileage + consumables like tyres.
Definitely agree, theres a much higher chance im going to watch a video if it's based in the UK and labelled that way.
I’ve also found some UK youtubers talk in US dollars when talking about money, which also puts me off a bit 😅
Im in
You just delivered to my dads house at the beginning of this video 😂😂
🙈🙊
Really enjoyed this content mate! Do you have instagram? Would love to have a chat with you! Thanks Olly
Hi mate, yes i do @tommywills4
I made up to 28£ a hr before
That’s quality
£12 tax that hurts a bit
Probably be less than that at the end of the year. You can claim 45p per mile for the first 10k miles you do
That's pretty good to be fair, even if you did it 3 times a week that's an extra 150 in the back pocket and it gets you out and about.
Exactly mate. It’s easy work aswell
@@tommywills Is it easy to sign up to it mate?
@@scottzu-5186 yea kind of. Waiting list takes a while though
What about wear and tear on the vehicle?
Great video man, just come across your channel. Looking forward to following your journey, keep it up 💪
Thank you man! Appreciate the sub, welcome 🤝🏼
Not worth it at all who’s paying for wear and teh can get a warehouse job that’s pays similar
Prefer this over warehouse job personally
you are amazing! (this is my first ever comment on youtube) you made me say it! keep it up bro
Fo example it’s not possible in Manchester. I can’t take two blocks per day, maybe just on weekends
Amazon are taking you for a ride. If you keep doing this day after day your car will soon be scrap and need replacing. Also you never mentioned business insurance for the car, ongoing maintenance such as brakes new tyres, new clutch, more frequent cam belt replacement and periodical servicing. You are not making anything like the money you think you are.
It’s honestly not that bad. And like any job, theres give and take. I don’t have an expensive flashy car, so I’m happy to use it to earn some extra money each month. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you 🤷🏻♂️
I do this in London, I get like 4 stops max during a 2 hour block and usually drive no more than 10 miles. 42 quid for every 2 hours, hardly any fuel consumed. Tax can be recouped via expenses. Its honestly not that bad. Rather spend a few hours out of the house than spend another minute around the wife during the weekends.
fuck amazon killed every business
Its not that difficult ,,theres an old granny delivers around my area ,,must be 75 yrs she loves it 😅
Class from her
Great video! I have a question: how often did you have days when there was no work available or are there more couriers than work? Thanks and good luck 🤞🏻
I could easily get a shift every evening, however it goes through quiet and busy times. Quiet times people always accept base rate which isn’t good money. Busy times you can wait until an hour before the block starts and accept a surge price which is worth it. Can’t work more than 24 hours a week, but if you just do evenings, you’ll be able to get a shift a day easy. Just depends on whether you’re happy taking base rate or not (i wouldn’t)
Same lens as I use with my a7siii. The 85mm 1.4 from the Sigma Art collection is EPIC too! 🔥😎👌🏴
So far really enjoying it. I want a slightly wider lens though soon, nothing flashy. Any recommendations?
Enjoyed that vid mate. Not sure how/why the algorithm threw it my way but I’m now subscribed! 😂👏👏
Cheers mate! Welcome 🤝🏼
That is awful pay I make 15 hour in a factory
So less than what I made after tax?
Better than nothing
30mpg any good for it?
Horrible them amazons mate. Really are not worth it
I signed up for flex 8 months ago haven't received any work yet & I'm in quite a busy area.
Gotta keep refreshing and be quick to get slots
drivers should use the coin app to mine xyo whilst youre driving.
Don't forget to include your vehicles deprecation in your final costs.
Hard to calculate that unfortunately. Cars naturally depreciate anyway regardless of doing Amazon flex. All down to the type of car aswell, so wouldn’t be helpful or relevant to most people. Best to keep it separate
@@tommywillsdepreciation you’re correct os hard to calculate but you can try and use a cabby / taxi driver method whereby you have to assign a certain amount of your daily expenses to vehicle maintenance. Something like 10%-15% should be good so your £44 would have been £38-£40 or something. You should definitely take your vehicle running costs into account regardless of if you have a main job or don’t use this money for your car service or mot etc. the reason is because this is where the majority of your wear and tear and mileage will come from. Cool vids and just found you ❤
@@smartnothard2400 I may start doing this. thank you man ❤️
can you do this as a full time job on that rate
You can only do max 24 hours a week, so it’s definitely just a side gig
Just found your channel. I love it
Thank you 🤝🏼
All the ware tear and running cost 20 quid a hour don’t cut it I’m afraid…and the rate is for the late shift..time half minimum 😮😊
Depends on the person I guess 👍🏼
you have a well paid job i take it.
@@Supraboyes not really let’s be honest if you all stood together I’m sure you could get more for your time ect ect unfortunately the lack of proper representation and collective bargaining means you get the scraps that Amazon want to give you..after 35 hours should be time half , after 6pm double time minimum plus a mileage fee paid to you for using your vehicle.. Hopefully things improve
Question... What happens if you can't deliver a parcel for some reason? Can you avoid that parcel and go on the next one on the app? How?
What I do is contact customer. If no answer, i try a neighbour. If no luck, then you can press undeliverable and you have to return it back to the depot after block or by 10am the next day. Make a note of the parcel number etc as sometimes the customer complains saying they didn’t receive it which then affects your driver score. Amazon will then email you to let you know that ‘1 of 35 parcels were not delivered’ for example. That’s where you then reply to the email with the parcel number and details and outline that you contacted the customer and tried neighbours. 9 times out of 10 they will clear it from your driver score. That’s my experience anyway
Thanks for this video..very interesting. Good luck and please keep us updated on “progress”. Also, what is the criteria in order to become monetised? Any tips? Thanks again. Subscribed, just to help you. 👍🏻
Thank you! 1000 subscribers (although i think it’s 500 now, not sure) 4000 watch hours in the last 12 months Or theres a Shorts method of 10 million views in last 90 days
Does Amazon pay your fuel?
No you pay for your own fuel
Great video and insightful 💥
You’re not factoring in wear and tear, which will far exceed fuel costs, insurance, etc.
I work from the same depot as you, I prefer the afternoon blocks. It's difficult sometimes finding out the way places in the daylight let alone the night time!
I prefer the lanes in the nighttime because you can see the headlights from further away, but finding house numbers are an absolute nightmare in the dark!
How does your insurance work bud? I'm thinking of giving it a go myself but getting quotes like £2200 a year to insure an old Fiesta. Been driving 18 years but only have 1 years no claims as my partner has a Motability car and I'm a named driver so don't earn no claims bonus. Any help would be appreciated
A Amazon flex driver here mate. Insurance is done for the hours you work with a company called inshur. They work with Amazon and you pay per hour the time it takes you to complete your block. To ballpark it, assuming you have a motobility car that's only a year or two old at the most your looking at about £1.20 give or take. Per hour. Just be careful if you do it in a motor bility car mate if they catch on it will be removed from you
19 drops yesterday, £58 - they were a little bit more spaced out than the usual 35/38 but still done in 2 hours from scanning to last drop...what did annoy me was a number of customers clearly had further parcels left earlier in the day - but they were so obvious! One literally at the front door step on a completely open new build estate (mine went through the letterbox)...does make me worry it will affect my standing if any complaints are attributed to someone elses shoddy delivery.
Any complaints will be linked to each QR code/Parcel. When you contact customer service the first thing they will ask the customer is what product it related to
Great honest video! I was on the fence for a while. Thanks for clearing things up
Cool sweet story - NOW - tell people about business car insurance and CAR REPAIRS - because you know - those tyres are wearing - suspension damage (my guess you saw those pot holes) - now think about increased chance of car accident and..... that is just TIP OF AN ICEBERG
Think you’ve done it for me 😂
So negative. You'll never do anything. There's a cost to anything.
@@williebobs3830 I would say realistic - thumbnail says £20/h then he said after taxes and NI is like £15 - but he forgot about ultra expensive car repairs after he will do like 10.000-20.000 ANNUALLY it will be down to like £5/h depends on car and how driven if accidents after hours and HOURS in car as a job

Long Shot.. I’m Trying to find a RUclips channel name I was subscribed too. It was a small fitness channel with around 1k subscribers. I think his name was Ellis. From the uk. Young lad. He’s just dropped off face of the earth and it’s doing my head in I can’t remember its name 😂
i work 4 on 4 off and overtime at work isn't always available i was about doing flex i have a depot 10-15 minutes from me are you guaranteed your local depot ??
Nice job mate. I want to ask is there any chance to work for the weekend and is it allowed only one block per day or more blocks
Can do 24 hours a week maximum, theres always weekend blocks and you can do more than 1 a day as long as the start and finish times don’t overlap
What SDPC and business insurance do you use? As I found out the difficult way the major players, LV, Hastings, Direct Line, Admiral don't allow for top-up insurance (aka: hire & reward or addon) , don't allow couriers on their own business packages either or even allow you to have other policies with other insurers entirely but Amazon and other gig apps don't tell you about this stuff (or don't make it obvious much like the mainstream insurers).
Admiral are the only company to accept H&W (top up) insurance. They also sell their own version. Its very annoying to be honest that they’re the only ones in the UK for flex drivers
@@tommywills Thank you, it's helpful for others to know and see this. I asked my insurance if they did business insurance for couriers to see if I could get it cheaper than what I had and they immediately voided my insurance and gave me 7 days to either stop doing courier work (to cancel the cancellation) or cancel with them and go with someone else (I had top up insurance with Inshur). I was asking a genuine question, but it's saved me a nightmare if I ever had a crash. It was Hastings and it was only specified on 1 line, no more than 20 words in a 93 page policy document.
@@mathew5162 i’ve been with Hastings before when i had a crash a few years ago. Difficult company to deal with and they accepted liability before evidence was even collected 😂 decided to lose a few years no claims just to get the ordeal out the way
I've got my insurance with Privilege, they allow top up insurance.
How long did it take you to be accepted onto Amazon flex. I have applied but have been put on the waiting list
I had to apply twice as they messed up my first application, but the second time i got accepted straight away. Was around october time though so prime day and xmas was round the corner
For me it was fairly quick but it depends on where you live. I also applied for Deliveroo and that was ages
So you need to do your own taxes and also factor in the cost of your accountant.
You can do a self assessment yourself but i use accountant for other things so doesn’t cost me any extra
@@tommywills ah, good to know. never even heard of amazon flex before seeing your vid through the youtube algorithm. might give it a go.
@@Fezzy976 yea give it a go man, i enjoy it
@@tommywills you reckon someone could do this fulltime?

Letters on a front seat, middle size in the boot, big boxes on the rear seats. Never use flex navigation and use waze :) did it for a year, working 4-6 hours a day, made approx £16k in a year. Not much money, expect to do around 20k miles in a year, that's 2 full services on the car. I loved it, still have an app and account :)
