in the UK that a Mammoth Major 8 wheeler, I can see it has a 505 engine, so i'm a bit confused, has it been re-powered?

Used to drive the Albion 6 wheeler tipper which also had a difflock between the 2 rear axles to help on soft ground. Although they were probably the most comfortable trucks to drive I very often nearly come a cropper stepping onto the step because it was curved and this caused me to nearly sprain my ankle. They had air powered windscreen wipers and a lever to open the windows. With the engine being in the cab they were a noisy truck to drive. This was the first truck that I had brake failure on. I've had brake failure on every type I've driven. Luckily the hand brake was solid enough to just about stop me before I mowed down a crowd of kids on a crossing. It would've made national news if it failed. The cause was a hole in a perished brake pipe. Because of this I still say that these are the most dangerous vehicles on the road because it required compressed air to activate the brakes. You lose the air and the footbrakes stop working. Modern trucks have spring brakes on the rear drive wheels so if you lose the air the springs activate the brakes.

What a cracking truck love the way it’s been done to a New Zealand spec really stands out .great shame when AEC were taken over by British Leyland .we haven’t got a truck industry over here in the uk all the British makes have long gone taken over by European truck makers then shut down .Im a ERF fan myself , big Cummins engine fuller gearbox what could be better 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

I have one of these 1976 model 40ft with a horizontal motor but the guy i broght it off in 2014 had reconditioned the motor but he joined the wires every few inches when I went to start it a few years ago it melted the wiring back to where it goes down through the floor I still live in it and turn it over by hand but I want to try and get it started again thanks for showing me that this might be possible
