he has the good grace to look embarrassed.
I am a Linn LP12 owner and have been since 1975 mine is an original spec LP12 , i qm qll in favour of upgrading retro fitting newly developed components but i am in tears 😂 laughing on the floor wetting myself at the announcement of the new Linn Bedrock plinth cost £8750😂😂😂😂, for the love of god yes it looks nice , but a bit of posh wood that costs the same as a good second hand car someone at Linn is having a laugh. I bet most peoples hifi systems dont even cost £8750, that number is just a joke. I love Linn as a company they are engineers and innovative but come on you cant be serious, April fools day is not till April. There are upgrades and there are upgrades but you have lost the plot with an £8750 plinth, so lets ask a serious question how many plinths at that price do you think your going to sell to break even ??? i am lost for words i am thinking someone has been on very large quantities of the fairy juice.
£8750 for the plinth only. Really? Is that correct? No electronics just timber and a metal plate. That can’t be right?
And finally the LP12 does not sound any more like a real Linn LP12 😂
Oh and for the second plinth you say the grooves are for cable routing, what an absolute load of bullshit again by another Linn Disciple. That groove is just part of the machining of the long lengths of timber so that the corner triangles when put together can fit in anywhere along the timber and don't require special machining in a specific location. Unbelievable what you clowns believe from this mob.
I'm delighted you like the video! You may like our "Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable Upgrade 2024 at ripcaster" video that does indeed show just how the slots in the side of the plinth is used for routing cables (skip to 26m40s). Enjoy ruclips.net/video/eLtW0xEE3wE/видео.html
What an absolute JOKE ! Gee Linn owners are so easily sucked in to allow this mob direct access to their wallets. Oh well if anyone is stupid enough to buy this packing box plinth then they deserve everything they'll cop.
Great now the LINN LP12 will run for 59.000EUR. Love it.
Nice upgrade. Just afraid to hear the retail price in the US...
I brought half a dozen for my cottage
I recently (well not super recent) learned from the areas oldest Linn Naim dealer that the black ash was the best sounding plinth because it was the lightest of the bunch(before the Bedrok existed). Now I'm guessing that there cannot be much weight difference between them but they're really never wrong about this stuff as Ken and John have been involved with Linn since the seventies and still make the best music in the area from audio systems and there background in music from recording to final playback. Nowhere else have I ever heard that before; the performance, then the playback of it, later CD's and Lp's of it. I'm guessing the Bedrok is the heaviest yet. I can't wait to hear one. What do you think?
The 'standard plinth' with top plate is approx 2.9kg, the new Bedrok with topplate is approx 4.9kg - see our video here ruclips.net/video/E5zHh4A54BA/видео.html
How many of the drm locked cds can it do. For ripping
why are you wearing gloves ?
All the equipment you see in our videos will eventually be sold as ex-demonstration to our customers in store or via our website here ripcaster.co.uk/preowned We want our ex-demo and pre-owned equipment to be in the best condition possible - hence the gloves to reduce fingerprints etc
@ripcastercouk very considerate....maybe dont do it at all !!
Excellent; I now have a better appreciation of my deck. Right now, the LP12 is in the shop getting a much needed up grade.
Waiting for a Solo 400, half the power, half the height and half the price.
I am surprised and astonished about how crappy a turntable this is for the budget. A superlight plinth, singing swinger plate, a motor control right next to the bearing, a cheapened out on/off switch compared to the vintage model, a hard mounted little motor to the plinth cover, suspension adjustment by pre-load increase only, no further damping, from underneath, basically no better, just newer than an old Thorens TD150. Sure it’s cult and in standard form is very likely better, but it cost over double what a new, modernized Thorens, that is actually better than the Linn in frabrication and comes fully set up from the manufacturer, no dealer DIY. You want even better for the price? Get the TD1600/1601 with TP160 arm. You’ve got to spend multiples of that with Linn to improve the obvious crappy parts to establish a sound beyond the Thorens’ Capability, exchanging motor, bearing, motor control, plinth, springy chassis plate and dampers, and tonearm, by then Linn will have charged you another 10-15K or even more.
Americans and British are very showy!
"Walnut" plinth???
Yes - this is a Walnut plinth. You may find this other video on LP12 plinths on our channel useful: ruclips.net/video/9KuX0Y8GMgo/видео.html
Awesome explanation of all these Linn products. About to purchase the Linn Selekt dsm classic. Trying to decide whether to go with the standard, katakyst, or organic dac.. can you tell a substantial upgrade with the organik dac? Thanks!
Thank you for watching.. In a word 'Yes' - the Organik DAC is highly recommended. You are welcome to visit our showroom and we can demonstrate the difference in performance between the multiple Selekt configurations. Email info@ripcaster.co.uk or call 01183218292 for advice/quote etc.
What is the exact bit type and size required for removing the two set screws on the casing (and the internal screws)?
Thank you for watching... You will need a Torx 10 Driver for the case and a 3mm Hex Driver for the cartridges. If you purchase from Ripcaster we configure and install for you.
Very detailed presentation, thanks!
I like this brand of speakers, but I don’t care for the active speakers. I rather have the passive bookshelf speakers in this brand which I haven’t been able to find so hopefully I will cause I would like to hear how they sound.
The switch really kills the design. Try to fix the soundtrack to the video, it is completely off.
I owned the Linn jig and did my own maintenance, its not rocket science like some Linnies would have you believe. Its actually a rather simple device.
I'm looking for an alternative to the cocktailaudio X45. I found her!
That was excellent. Well done.
You're the first one explaining the Linn LP12 Upgrade Options in detail. I've upgraded to Lingo 4 in 2023 and in 2024 there was a promotion to upgrade the chassis plus Karousel which was performed by my dealer. The recommendation for the last upgrade was to run an 200 hours running-in period. I can say the upgrades made siginificant changes in playing LP's from a sound point of view. Take care and have a great time. Martin
Thanks for a super Video. I've enjoyed how you performed with passion the different upgrade steps. Subscribed from Southern Germany
Thank you for the video. Excellent production. You are the audiophile version of a surgeon. As I look across the room at my 80's Linn, I fear I've missed the boat for those type of upgrades. Nice to dream though. Subscribed from Australia.
i'm interested by the prices of all this components
Thank you for watching.... You can see all the component prices here: ripcaster.co.uk/Linn_LP12_Components The complete Majik LP12 here ripcaster.co.uk/Linn_Majik_LP12 Please get in touch if you would like a demonstration or a quotation.
@@ripcastercouk thanks
What an unbelievably stupid product
Thank you for the video, helped me step by step install my new utopik psu.
Thanks for watching. The Utopik is an excellent upgrade. We do have a dedicated Utopik upgrade video here ruclips.net/video/j7F91PGfctE/видео.html
Based on your experience with respect to the Linn cartridges having a Krystal in use at an Ekos SE tonearm: would you recommend the Kendo or save more money and shoot for the Ekstatik? Where is the bigger sound quality delta, from Krystal to Kendo or from Kendo to Ekstatik? Cheers Andi
50K though?
Thank you sir for your tutorial…much appreciated from USA…I recently purchased Muranos and am considering pairing with Abyss.
Aah...Cabasse...great products! 🥰👌
I would be very interested to know what was the final upgrade cost in UK ££££££
Thank you for watching. Please get in touch and I'd be happy to go through the numbers/quote 01183218292 info@ripcaster.co.uk
Can this be used as a pre amp/hub with active speakers from another manufacturer? Are the outputs true balanced?
Yes - you can connect third-party active speakers via (fully) Balanced or Unbalanced cables e.g. ATC
Great information 🙏 I’m surprised Linn would put a Phono Preamp in a table. Most spending that kind of money wouldn’t be going for a Preamp at that level. Wonder what their logic was for that decision.
Brilliant, Love that colour. 🫡
Did you really say Radio four play at 14.05 😂😂
If you question replacing parts after 40 years you’re in the wrong hobby. You toss a car after 10 years but a mechanical device in the home should last forever. 🤔
Brilliant 🫡
Amazing, didn’t realize there was so many upgrades. I’ll have to look into some of these. 🫡
Just about to get an sr25 Mkii - but just wondering if the tidal work around is still required (if all the latest firmware is installed)and if yes what version of tidal do I need to get it functioning properly?- also for Apple Music do u just need to install the app?
Great video!
Good day, I'm racking my brains what is better to buy Cabasse Murano and Cabasse Abyss All-In-One in a pair, or Cabasse Rialto what will sound better and louder, please tell me? Thank you
Nice video, the custom colour of the speakers are lush
The plinth and speakers are in a custom VW paint finish. The Majik 109 speakers are currently available in the pre-owned/ex-demo section of our website.....
does linn have a house "sound"? is it warm? analytical? could you try to describe?
what kind of frequency response can you expect? its a big secret with linn
I have the Abyss, it sounds incredibly good for a Class D amplifier, and the streamer is solid, I find it better than the BlueSound Node N130. I have my Abyss paired with the Murano bookshelf speakers and a trio of REL T-Zero subwoofers. The room correction works, very happy with that. Again, the sound is more Class A/B to my ear, they did a very good job here. The software could be improved, it is not that intuitive when compared to others, but I am getting it figured out. The software is at least stable, no issues there other than one major issue I will get to. Streaming, Tidal is via Tidal Connect, which is annoying. Qobuz works seamlessly in the Cabasse app, very happy with that. Those are the only two I use. Connections, at this price, a pair of XLR would have been nice. The TV HDMI, no clue what that does, it does nothing functional that I can tell. I had to use an optical SPDIF to connect to my TV. My niggles, there is yet to be full Roon certification, so if you use Roon, you are stuck with AirPlay. The Abyss needs Roon certification, I cannot believe they are not there yet. Then the elephant in the room... THERE IS NO REMOTE CONTROL! This NEEDS a remote control, I hate using my phone or an iPad to control volume. And this is where the software has issues. My volume control jumps, it is not smooth on either my iPhone or iPad. I thought I blew my speakers when it jumped all the way to full volume. This is a deal killer in my book, and I wish I would have known that before purchasing. I am seriously considering returning this, but I will more than likely keep it. Why keep it? Well, it sounds incredibly good, and I have wanted another Class D amp in the house since selling my last one. I am using my preamp and Volumio Rivo streamer out to the Abyss so that I have volume control for now, and a useable Class D amplifier. I will order a iPad remote for volume control and see how that goes, they sell them on Amazon. Then, if this ever gets Roon certification, which they say they are working on, this will take the sound quality to another level and may be worth recommending. So, there you have it. If you are looking for a standalone unit like this, I would look elsewhere due to the remote issue, but that is just me.
